Jason McCourty’s first college football broadcast will be at the birthplace of his career. The former Rutgers football standout will get the nod for his alma mater’s season opener on CBS.
In an unusual – albeit brilliant – but still unusual twist, Rutgers opens the season on Sunday, September 3 at SHI Stadium. The timeslot was afforded to the Big Ten because the NFL doesn’t begin till the following week.
It makes the Northwestern at Rutgers game, already an intriguing one, essentially the only game in town at that time.
This will be the first season for the Big on CBS.
McCourty, a former Rutgers standout defensive back, spent 13 seasons in the NFL and won a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots. He played for four teams, making 173 appearances (141 starts). He had 18 career interceptions and 744 total tackles in his career.
CBS Sports has released its announcer lineup for the 2023 College Football season.
