CBS Sports believes the Texas Longhorns will be much better in 2022

CBS Sports has Texas at No. 16 in their way-too-early top-25

Is this just history repeating itself or are the Longhorns going to finally be for real?

We will have to wait to actually know the answer to that question, but multiple outlets such as 247Sports, and more recently CBS Sports, seem to believe that the Longhorns are poised for a bounce-back season.

Texas fans are certainly hopeful of a major turnaround, as going 5-7 in the first year under Steve Sarkisian was not the expectation of the Longhorn faithful at all.

CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd released his way-too-early top-25 ahead of the 2022 season, and surprisingly Texas was a part of it. Even more surprisingly, Texas came in at No. 16 in the rankings behind Tennessee and USC, while being ahead of Wake Forrest and Oregon.

Here is what Dodd had to say about what he thinks of the Longhorns:

The Longhorns will need an entire offseason to wash the taste of a loss to Kansas, as part of a 5-7 season, out of their mouths. Steve Sarkisian gets a five-star infusion at quarterback with Quinn Ewers. Xavier Worthy is a budding star at wide receiver. Only TCU and Kansas, though, gave up more yards. Is this any way to get ready for the SEC?

In reality, Texas may not even start the season with a ranking, but they are counting on a ton of young talent to help lift the program to success.
