Why San Francisco Will Win

The New England offense isn’t working without a passing game. The Patriots like to run, they like to get Cam Newton being Cam Newton in the red zone, and the hope is for the defense to take care of the rest. However, the offense stopped scoring and it needs takeaways to help the cause.

The Patriots are last in the NFL in passing scores and haven’t hit the 200-yard mark in the last three games. Worst of all, the turnovers are coming with seven in the last two games. San Francisco’s pass defense has been terrific, not allowing more than 200 yards in five of the last six games.

Why New England Will Win

This is one flaky San Francisco team.

Injuries had a lot to do with it, but just when everything seems like it’s falling apart with a disastrous day against Miami, the team is almost flawless in a win over the Rams.

Offensively, forget the running game. The Patriots are second in the NFL in run defense, have only allowed one rushing score, and have yet to allow more than 154 yards on the ground. That means it’s all on …

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

QB Jimmy Garoppolo, San Francisco
It’s his day against his old team, but that can’t matter. He has to be on considering the ground game isn’t going to work, and he has to keep using George Kittle after a big performance against the Rams.

Garoppolo was awful against Miami – the ankle injury was an issue – and he bounced back to throw three scores against LA. If he doesn’t throw for three scores against the Patriots, the 49ers lose.

What’s Going To Happen

Garoppolo won’t throw three touchdown passes.

San Francisco has been fantastic in its two east coast road games, but those were against the New York teams. The New England defense will keep being fantastic, and the offense will finally start to kick in just enough to take an early lead so the D can handle Jimmy G.

Why Los Angeles Will Win

Now these are the Jacksonville Jaguars we were expecting from the start.

This was supposed to be one of the lead dogs in the Tank For Trevor (Lawrence) race, but they screwed it up with a win over Indianapolis that now appears to be a total aberration.

The offense has stalled with fewer than 17 points in three of the last four games, and the defense has become a disaster at allowing big plays down the field. Jacksonville allows a whopping 8.2 yards per throw, and Justin Herbert and the Charger offense are rolling through the air.

Why Jacksonville Will Win

It’s not like the Chargers are winning, either.

They’ve played in two overtime games, and they’ve been interesting and entertaining, but they’re not good at winning with four straight losses. And why? This plays like a team that doesn’t know how to win. That’s why happens when you have a rookie quarterback going against Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady and Drew Brees.

Jacksonville is good enough offensively on third downs to keep things moving, and while the team has problems with the whole winning thing, Gardner Minshew is fearless when it comes to try making the big throw.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

TE Hunter Henry, Los Angeles
The Jaguars have the 30th ranked defense against tight ends, and now they’re about to be picked apart again. Henry has been targeted at least seven times in four of the last five games. With Keenan Allen not at 100%, and receiving threat Austin Ekeler still out, Henry will get increased targets and should flirt with 100 yards and a TD.

What’s Going To Happen

It’ll be a fun and wild shootout between two bad football teams. Jacksonville will open it up enough to get the passing game rolling, but Herbert and the Charger offense will blow up for over 400 yards with all of the top targets getting to have some fun.

Why Tampa Bay Will Win

The defense is a total killer.

The offense has been just fine with the passing game good enough to get by, but it’s the NFL’s No. 1 defense that’s making Tampa Bay a real, live Super Bowl contender. And it helps to be getting Antonio Brown, too – but not yet.

The Raiders aren’t forcing enough takeaways with just three on the year, the tun defense has been good enough, and now the offense has to deal with a D that hasn’t allowed 250 yards of total offense in three of the last four games.

Why Las Vegas Will Win

The Raiders are rested, they’re at home, and they’re getting a Tampa Bay team that went to Chicago, flew home to get up for Green Bay, and now has to go to Las Vegas. Throw in the date against Denver, and this is the team’s third game in a different time zone in the last five weeks.

How do you beat the Bucs? You have to own third downs, and Vegas is one of the best teams in the NFL at keeping things moving and owning the clock. The passing game is good enough at home to keep pushing.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Ronald Jones, Tampa Bay
This was supposed to be the Leonard Fournette running game, and Tom Brady is going to be the star of any attack, but Jones has been the steady force over the last three games. He was a good part of a rotation, and then he ran for three straight 100-yard games with two touchdown runs last week against Green Bay.

What’s Going To Happen

The Buccaneers were able to jump all over Aaron Rodgers last week in blowout win over the Packers, and they’ll do it again this week. However, Jon Gruden and the coaching staff have had two weeks to prepare for this, and they’re about to pitch a defensive gem. It won’t be a high-flying show, but it’ll be wildly entertaining.

Why Chicago Will Win

The Bears continue to find a way. They might not be pretty, and they might not have enough of a running game to matter, but the defense continues to be terrific – especially in the secondary – and it’s doing an amazing job on third downs. As long as the turnovers are kept to a bare minimum, the Bears have the right formula.

Why Los Angeles Will Win

This is about as one-dimensional an NFL team as the Rams will face. It’s not that Chicago doesn’t want to run; it just can’t do it. There aren’t enough attempts, and there isn’t any sort of a commitment to the ground game, and this isn’t the game to get everything healthy – the Ram run defense has been consistently solid all year.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

Avoid the Bears defense if you can, especially if you have Ram receivers. On the other side, though Graham is getting targeted six times a game, and now he’s going against an LA D that just got roughed-up by George Kittle. Graham has four TDs in six games.

What’s Going To Happen

Again, the Bears are finding ways to win, and every time it seems like it’s about to get tagged by a team that’s due for a big performance – like Atlanta in Week 3 and Carolina last week – but this time that’s actually the case. The Rams are coming off an offensive clunker against San Francisco, but the D will take over in this.

This dog of a Giant offense just won’t hunt.

It’s actually moving the ball well on key third down plays, but it’s simply not going anywhere. Daniel Jones will connect on just enough downfield plays to make defenses worry a wee bit about the deep ball, but he has only thrown three touchdown passes on the year for the league’s worst passing game.
