Why Alabama Will Win

Missouri will be working on its offensive line for a little bit.

It’s not like the Tigers will be awful up front, but new head coach Eliah Drinkwitz and the staff had some reworking to do,. New starting quarterback Connor Bazelak or Shawn Robinson will need time to get the proverbial feet wet, the secondary that was solid has to come up with a whole lot more picks and big plays, and …

Yeah, Alabama isn’t the team you play as a tune-up.

The Crimson Tide offensive line should be ready to blast away from the start. With everyone a bit rusty to start the season, the easiest thing to do is line up, run the ball, and keep it going. With Najee Harris and Brian Robinson working behind another line full of all-stars, Bama should control the game and the clock.

Why Missouri Will Win

Can the Mizzou passing game get into a rhythm early on?

The Alabama secondary is more than fine and full of excellent talents, but it’s the one area that’s going to need a little while to be great. The Tigers have to take advantage. and no matter who the starting quarterback is, he has to keep pushing.

The receivers are there to push the Tide, with Virginia Tech transfer Damon Hazelton a true No. 1 target around a slew of other new, dangerous parts. No one will expecting much of anything, so the Tigers are going to turn it loose.

What’s Going To Happen

Alabama 42, Duke 3.
Alabama 51, Louisville 14.
Alabama 24, Florida State 7.
Alabama 52, USC 6 … and on, and on, and on.

2014 West Virginia is the only team to not get obliterated in a Crimson Tide opener for a long, long time, and the last loss in a first game of the season was against UCLA back in 2001.

Bama will be business-like with good balance, a solid game from starting QB Mac Jones, and despite a few big Missouri plays here and there to give Nick Saban a few things to be mad about, there won’t be any major issues.

College Football Hot Seat Coach Rankings: After Week 3

Which coaches are on the hottest seat and under the most pressure after Week 3 of the college football season?

Which coaches are on the hottest seat and under the most pressure after Week 3 of the college football season?

Contact/Follow @ColFootballNews & @PeteFiutak

Which ten coaches are going to be feeling it if they don’t win … NOW.

The hot seat rankings are done in two ways. First, the five coaches who need a win for job security – even in a year when most coaches will get a whole lot of benefits of a whole lot of doubts.

Then come the five coaches who aren’t in any real danger of being fired, but could desperately use something positive.

[jwplayer PkCtjTd4-boEY74VG]

Coaches On The Hot Seat: Win, Or Else

5. Dana Dimel, UTEP

It’s sort of hard to put him on any real hot seat list after winning as many games in the first three dates of this year than he did in his first two seasons combined, but the 2-1 start is a bit of a mirage. The two wins were too tight over Stephen F. Austin and Abilene Christian, and the loss was a blowout to Texas. Dimel won’t be fired anytime soon, but he could really use a win over an FBS team and win on the road against …

4. Matt Viator, ULM

Army has been great in its two games, so there’s some forgiveness for being off in the 37-7 opening win. However, getting boat-raced at home against Texas State 38-17 hurts. Lose at home to UTEP, and ULM could be facing a winless season.

3. Dino Babers, Syracuse

The games against North Carolina and Pitt were on the road, but those two aren’t that amazing. They’re both good, but not good enough to lose to by a combined score of 52-16. The offense is a disaster because the line is a mess, and now Babers – after winning ten games in 2018 and the 2019 season opener – has gone 4-9 in his last 13 games.

2. Rick Stockstill, Middle Tennessee

Chalk up the 42-0 clunker at Army to start the season as an opening weekend misfire when the team didn’t do much of anything right. Two weeks later, everything was supposed to start working at home against Troy, and … 47-14 loss. Stockstill might be a fixture for the program, but now he’s 5-13 in his last 18 games. Lose at UTSA, and there’s a problem.

1. Will Muschamp, South Carolina

The schedule is unforgiving.

South Carolina doesn’t have to play Clemson this season, but seven of the ten teams on the all-SEC schedule went bowling last year, and three of the first five games are on the road. After going 4-8 in 2019, a bad start with losses to Tennessee and at Florida would set up a true hot seat game at Vanderbilt.

College Football Lines: Week 4 Opening Lines, Early Values

The early lines and odds are out for Week 4 of the college football campaign. What are the early values?

The early lines and odds are out for Week 4 of the college football campaign. What are the early values with the SEC coming back and the season starting to kick in?

 Pete Fiutak @PeteFiutak

Finally, the season is about to get a whole lot stronger.

The Big Ten might be a month away from getting going, but the SEC is back, the ACC and Big 12 seasons are starting to get rolling, and the overall play should be a whole lot sharper.

Here’s how the drill goes. Without looking, I take a guess on what the initial college football lines are going to be for Week 4. The real lines are added after to see if there might be anything that appears to be way off.

Hawaii Adds Robert Morris To Its Schedule For 2020 Season

Hawaii lost four games but now they have added one as a replacement in getting Robert Morris on the docket.

Hawaii Adds Robert Morris To Its Schedule For 2020 Season

Warriors add an independent FCS team

Contact/Follow @JeremyMauss & @MWCwire

Hawaii now has nine games scheduled.

Hawaii has already lost four games due to the Pac-12 going to an league-only slate and Fordham cancelling its game as part of the Patriot League which is not playing football this fall.

The Warriors were looking for an opponent to add to its slate since the first month is basically has been cancelled out.

Well, not anymore, Hawaii announced the addition of playing Robert Morris of the FCS ranks and the two will play on Sept. 26.

“I’m pleased we were able to fill one of our open dates with Robert Morris,” Athletics Director David Matlin said. “With so much uncertainty surrounding the fall season, it was important to lock up a home game and try to salvage as close to a full schedule as possible. That said, the health and safety of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff is still our number one priority and we’ll make decisions with that in mind.”

[lawrence-related id=31037]

This now gives Hawaii 10 games, for now, but what it also gives an insight into how the Mountain West might be addressing its upcoming season.

The initial thought was that all of the conferences would go to league-only slates but this move from the Warriors could mean a few things. For one, it allows Hawaii to have more games for TV inventory for its SpectrumTV deal for Warriors fans on the Hawaii islands.

The bigger picture could mean that if Mountain West teams can replace cancelled games then they will be able to do with a willing opponent.

Adding games will be an interesting thing to watch as the Mountain West has lost 15 total games vs. Power 5 teams.

Hawaii’s 2020 football schedule

Sept. 26 vs. Robert Morris (New addition)

Oct. 3 Nevada

Oct. 10 New Mexico State

Oct. 17 at Air Force

Oct. 24 Boise State

Oct. 31 at Fresno State

Nov. 7 New Mexico

Nov. 14 UNLV
