Pittsburgh Steelers (8-0) vs Cincinnati Bengals (2-5-1) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Cincinnati Bengals Will Win

The Bengals are rested, and Pittsburgh really, really isn’t.

It’s not just that the Steelers had their bye week well over a month ago, it’s that they’re coming off a brutal three-game road stretch with emotional wins over Tennessee and Baltimore and a relatively flat date against a plucky Dallas team that was overmatched, but balled out.

As good as the Steelers are, they’re not pushing the ball down the field enough, the ground game has failed to hit 100 yards in the last three games, and the run defense is starting to get hammered on over the last few weeks.

Why Pittsburgh Steelers Will Win

As great as Joe Burrow is, the Bengals have to run to win. Burrow is great at forcing comebacks and he’s playing well beyond his rookie experience, but the team has won two games this year and those just so happened to be the two times it ran for 100 yards.

The Steelers got hammered by Baltimore and Dallas was somehow able to get going for 144 yards, but they’ve been great all year against everyone’s ground game.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

WR Diontae Johnson, Pittsburgh
Johnson has been targeted 10+ times in four of the seven games he played in. Although he has had some dud games – one catch against Baltimore – but he’s still Plan A #1 WR on a stacked skill position team. The Bengal D has been up and down this year, but it’s going to give up a slew of downfield plays this week to a team that doesn’t normally hit deep shots.

What’s Going To Happen

Pittsburgh might be leaking oil, but they’re surviving on key offensive plays and a whole slew of takeaways form the defense. It has come up with two or more takeaways against everyone but Houston and Tennessee, and Cincinnati  is usually good for a giveaway or two.

Baltimore Ravens (6-2) vs New England Patriots (3-5) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Baltimore Ravens Will Win

The New England offense hasn’t stopped, but it’s not exactly rolling.

Oh sure, it had no issues with the Jets, but the passing attack is still mediocre – don’t fall for the big day against the New York secondary – and now it’s going against a defense that’s a rock against the run.

Baltimore is great at holding up against one-dimensional teams, the D is good at getting behind the line, and there’s no real worry about Cam Newton firing down the field on a consistent basis.

Why New England Patriots Will Win

The Patriot running game is working. It’s going to have a hard time getting things consistently going against the Ravens, but it still will pound again. Baltimore leads the NFL in rushing, but New England is second.

The Patriot secondary is strong at taking the ball away, Newton and the ground attack are good at controlling the clock, and there’s a good chance it’ll keep the score low and the tempo at its level.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB JK Dobbins, Baltimore
Dobbins received a season high 10 and 12 carries the past two weeks against tough Indianapolis and Pittsburgh defenses, respectively. Now he gets a big schedule break against a New England D that was great early on, but is starting to get gouged. With Mark Ingram still hurt, and Dobbins fresh-legged, it’s his time to bust out.

What’s Going To Happen

Baltimore does what New England does, only a whole lot better. The defense is better, the running game is better, and it takes the ball over just as much. As long as the Ravens don’t royally screw up, this won’t be a problem.

Minnesota Vikings (3-5) vs Chicago Bears (5-4) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Minnesota Vikings Will Win

The Chicago Bears have stopped being so magical.

They weren’t very good over the first six weeks of the season, but they always found a way to get it done. Whether it was a late rally, or a key stop, or a dropped pass by the other side, they kept on winning.

That magic is gone in a three game losing streak with the O coming up short way too much. The coaching staff is changing up the play calling, but will that help the league’s worst running game? Can the turnovers stop after giving it up five times over the last three games? On the flip side, Minnesota has found its mojo with Dalvin Cook and the running game rolling, but …

Why Chicago Bears Will Win

How do you stop Minnesota? You stop the running game.

That’s easier said than done, but the Chicago run defense has been able to hold up well enough to be fine. It’ll give up yards and the defense is the best in the league at coming up with third down stops. The group will give up a decent day from Cook, but don’t expect the gashes he’s getting against everyone else.

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

WR Allen Robinson, Chicago
With the many injuries in the Vikings secondary, look for Nick Foles to funnel passes to Robinson, who’s averaging close to ten targets per game, catching 17 of 20 targets the past three games. With a young, battered group of defensive backs, Minnesota will get hit hard.

What’s Going To Happen

Cook and the hot Viking offense will have a few good moments, but the great running game will suddenly be bottled up. Kirk Cousins will hit a few deep passes, but overall, the Chicago defense will keep this in range. The Bears aren’t going to be Kansas City all of a sudden, but the O will start to be a bit fresher.

Indianapolis Colts (5-3) vs Tennessee Titans (6-2) Game Preview

For latest lines and to bet on the NFL, go to BetMGM

Why Indianapolis Colts Will Win

The defense is still terrific.

It might not be as strong as it was over the first part of the season, but no one’s able to do too much on the ground, there’s only been one 300-yard passing day – exactly 300 by Joe Burrow in a win over Cincinnati – and the team still leads the NFL in total D.

The running game still isn’t dominant, and Phil Rivers still can’t seem to have the same good games twice, but the offense has been pulling its weight, especially on the ground lately.

Week 11 Schedule, Predictions, Lines

Why Tennessee Titans Will Win

It’s not all about the turnovers, but they’re going to make a difference.

As good as Indianapolis is, there’s a relatively thin margin of error. It can score – it certainly did in the blowout win over Detroit a few weeks ago – but in general, it needs to be relatively clean to win.

The Colts didn’t turn the ball over against Detroit, but they’ve turned it over twice in three of their last four games – along with the loss in the opener against Jacksonville – and lost two of them and hung on to win in the other against Cincinnati.

Tennessee is a rock on giveaways – it has only given it up four times so far. Indy’s D lives on takeaways.

CFN College Football Experts Picks

Fantasy Football Player To Watch

RB Derrick Henry, Tennessee
He’s still a superstar, and he’s still the main man, but he’s coming off a mediocre 68-yard day against Chicago, ripped up Cincinnati the week before that, and got stuffed too often against Pittsburgh the week before that. However, the Steelers and Bears have killer run defenses. Indianapolis does, too.

What’s Going To Happen

Considering how good the Indy D is, it’ll be more of a shootout than many might think. The Titans have failed to get to 300 yards in total offense in two of the last three games, but it’ll be just efficient enough to overcome a strong passing day from Rivers to get out on a late field goal.

College Football Cavalcade: What Will The College Football Playoff Be?

What I think, know and believe about the college football world, what will the College Football Playoff be? The College Football Cavalcade.

What I think, know and believe about the college football world, what will happen the rest of the season, and are Cincinnati and BYU THAT good? All in the latest College Football Cavalcade.

Sorry if this column sucks, it’s not my fault …

Along with Jim Harbaugh, James Franklin, Kirby Smart, Jeremy Pruitt, Chip Kelly, Will Mushchamp, Les Miles, Lovie Smith, and for just over 57 minutes, Clay Helton, Twitter wanted the column fired at some point on Saturday.

However, watch how quickly it all goes from cute to really, really, really annoying …

Puff that chest out this week you Indiana fans, you.

Northwestern fans, you chirp over a 3-0 start with the hope of going to a second Big Ten championship in three years.

Liberty fans, you go annoy the hell – sorry, heck – out of those Virginia Tech people you work with.

Coastal Carolina fans, you get to point out that not all teams from South Carolina lost this weekend.

Tulsa, dream of possibly playing in the American Athletic Conference Championship and being a factor again for the first time since 2016.

Arkansas fans, you WOO PIG your butts off after what you did to Tennessee.

Cincinnati fans, your team is going to really and truly be in the College Football Playoff discussion.

Maryland fans, you bask in the glory of a magical last five quarters of college football including the first win over Penn State since 1961. Rutgers fans, enjoy that you beat the team that beat Michigan and have as many victories as the Wolverines.

UTEP fans, your team is 3-3. UTSA fans, your team is 4-4. Kansas fans, your team is … Kansas fans, basketball season is around the corner.

We all focus on the Alabamas, Ohio States and Clemsons of the college football world, but what gets lost in the narrative is how miserable an existence it is to be a superfan of a blue-blood powerhouse program.

Really, have you ever met an Ohio State fan who’s truly happy? Winning the Big Ten title like the team did last year would be reason for parades at most programs, but the only thing Buckeye fans remember is the loss to Clemson in the College Football Playoff.

Really, have you ever met an Alabama fan who’s able to enjoy the moment? Win an SEC championship and throw it on the pile – it doesn’t matter without a national title. Even then, it’s all about whether or not the Tide can win it next year, too.

So in this year of so much unhappiness, let’s celebrate the unbridled joy experienced by the fan bases of so many afterthought programs.

With all that said, fans of some of those teams, please stop reading now.

5. Winners & Losers From Week 10

– Clemson vs. Notre Dame: One Really Big Thing
– BYU vs. Boise State: Most Overrated Thing
– Florida vs. Georgia: Most Underrated Thing
– The big-team losses: What It All Means, Week 10

Winner: QB Michael Penix Jr., Indiana

The star recruit is getting his chance to shine after a few injury issues, and he’s coming up huge. The comeback win over Penn State was nice, but over the last two games against Rutgers and Michigan, he has thrown for 588 and six touchdowns without an interception.

Loser: Michigan running game

The University of Michigan – home of the self-proclaimed Leaders and Best – ran 18 times against Indiana for a grand total of 13 yards in the 38-21 loss. It was the only time the program has been held to under 30 yards rushing since coming up with 28 yards in a loss to Michigan State back on October 3rd, 2009.

Winner: QB Kyle Trask, Florida

With his 30-of-43, 474-yard, four-touchdown day in the 44-28 win over Georgia, Trask has become the first quarterback in SEC history with five straight games with four touchdown passes or more.

On the year, he has thrown for 1,815 yards with 22 touchdowns and three interceptions. Last year after five games, Joe Burrow had thrown for 1,864 yards with 23 touchdowns and three interceptions.

Loser: Georgia pass defense in big games

The secondary was without star defensive back Richard LeCounte after a frightening accident, but it was still supposed to be better than it showed against Florida. The Dawgs allowed 474 yards and four touchdowns through the air. Two games earlier against Alabama, they gave up 417 yards and four touchdowns.

Winner: RB Breece Hall, Iowa State

With his 133 yards in the 38-31 win over Baylor, Hall has hit the 1,000-yard mark seven games into the season. It was his seventh 100-yard day in seven games, and he ran for multiple scores for the fifth time.

Loser: Oklahoma State passing game

The offense was supposed to be a high-flying fun show, but quarterback injuries and inconsistencies have been the issue. The Cowboys threw for 400 yards in the loss to Texas, but last week, Spencer Sanders threw for for 108 yards and no scores in the win over Kansas State. Just a few years ago, the 2017 OSU team led the Big 12 in passing. At the moment it’s seventh.

Winner: QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson, UCLA

Now a veteran in the Chip Kelly system, he only hit half of his throws in the 48-42 loss to Colorado, but they went for 303 yards and four scores with an interception, and he ld the team with 109 rushing yards and a score. However …

Loser: UCLA in season-openers

With this loss, UCLA is 7-18 so far under Kelly. It’s the third year in a row the Bruins have lost their season-opener, and it’s the fourth time in the last five seasons.

– Clemson vs. Notre Dame: One Really Big Thing

The College Football News bowl projections, and the predictions for the College Football Playoff after Week 10.

1. The Bahamas, Celebration, Fenway, Hawaii, Holiday, Quick Lane, and Redbox bowls won’t be played this year, and the Montgomery Bowl will take the place of the Fenway.

2. The Las Vegas Bowl is questionable. The Pac-12 is missing a few of its bowl ties, and now the rule in the league is that a team has to go .500 to be eligible. For everyone else, records don’t necessarily matter this year.

Next week it’s really on when the Pac-12 adds its two-cents into the mix.

As always, the ground rules for this are 1) win your Power Five championship and go unbeaten and you’re almost certainly in, or 2) finish with one loss and a Power Five championship and you’re probably in, or 3) lose one game in the SEC, Big Ten or ACC and as long as that’s it, you have a shot.

Everyone else is playing for the joy of college football.

Finished. Done. Let’s go take a steam

Teams that haven’t played yet, but have a chance

With a short season, go 7-0 with a Pac-12 championship and there’s a shot. 6-1 and ehhhhhhh.

Finished. Done. Let’s go take a steam …

These teams are either Power Five programs with multiple losses or Group of Five programs with one loss. Also being added is any Pac-12 team with a loss – there’s no chance with the league’s short schedule.

Unless something insane happens, these 83 teams are out of the College Football Playoff hunt.
