Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco Game Preview

Why Los Angeles Rams Will Win

You think the Rams are going to do that again?

The national stage was theirs against a Derrick Henry-less Tennessee, and they didn’t show up in a lifeless 28-16 loss.

The temptation will be to start bombing away and get back to doing what made Matthew Stafford look like an MVP candidate, but this needs to be all about Darrell Henderson, Sony Michel, and the running game.

James Conner isn’t that great, but he looked like the best back in the league as he ripped through the 49er defense last week. San Francisco is giving yards in chunks on the ground, allowing close to 500 yards over the last three games.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why San Francisco Will Win

The offense got George Kittle involved again.

Lost in all the problems stopping Conner and the Arizona offense was a San Francisco attack that was okay for the second week in a row.

Jimmy Garoppolo is quietly playing well, running for a few scores to go along with a 300-yard day against Chicago, and following it up with close to 300 against the Cardinals.

Turnovers were an issue last week, but the Rams aren’t taking the ball away enough over the last few games.

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

The 49er defense has inexplicably gone bye-bye against the run, while the Ram defense has been slightly disappointing overall.

Stafford will bounce back from last week, the ground game will get to 150 yards, and the Rams will look and play like their normal selves …. sort of.

They rolled a whole bunch of bad teams and had one great performance against Tampa Bay. San Francisco makes this a fight.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Kansas City at Las Vegas Game Preview

Why Kansas City Will Win

Can the turnovers flip to the other side?

Kansas City was having massive giveaway problems for weeks – with 19 in seven games – and then it got through the Green Bay game clean, was a +2 in turnover margin, and it got the big win.

Meanwhile, Las Vegas turned it over three times and lost to the Giants despite a big day from the defense.

The air show is there at Kansas City somewhere, but in this it will likely be about the running game. The Vegas defensive front is among the worst in the league at holding up to ground attacks – allowing 100 yards or more to everyone but Pittsburgh – and the Chiefs will need it because …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Las Vegas Will Win

It’s not like defenses using a two-high safety coverage scheme is anything out of the ordinary – Kansas City is just not playing well.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chief attack had major turnover issues before last week, but it’s not like it’s a one week fix.

All of a sudden, the big plays have gone bye-bye, Mahomes is forcing things and his timing is off, and now it all goes against a Vegas secondary that doesn’t give up the deep shot.

And yes, Las Vegas isn’t great against the run. That’s okay, Kansas City hasn’t been all that great on the ground.

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

It’s okay to say it – even after a two-game winning streak – Kansas City isn’t very good right now.

The D was able to save the day against a Packer team missing its guy and against a banged up New York Giant squad, but The Raider O should be able to throw enough to get everyone out of its shell.

At home in a rivalry game, this should be a bit of a shootout with Mahomes rolling in the second half, but the Raiders will pull out a thriller after last week’s disappointment to New York.

Seattle at Green Bay Game Preview

Why Seattle Will Win

Does this seem like a settled and happy Green Bay situation to you?

Aaron Rodgers is back in the mix, but Jordan Love was the one who took the practice reps after his mediocre performance in the loss to Kansas City.

Can Rodgers go from his bizarro career-branding pivot to play like an MVP talent again just like that?

Seattle has its own guy back with Russell Wilson looking to try giving it a go through the injured finger that kept him out over the last few weeks.

More than just Wilson, this is a rested team coming off the bye week. Green Bay just played two straight road games before dealing with that.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Green Bay Will Win

Rodgers, Schmodgers … the Green Bay defense has been the star of this team.

That’s a wee bit of an overstatement, but the Packers have been terrific at limiting the deep shots, it came up with 14 takeaways over a seven game stretch before not getting one last week, and now it gets a pedestrian Seattle offense that has to get back up to speed.

But, of course, the game will be about 12 – assuming it’s not Love that’s stepping in.

The Seattle secondary has been good to give up 210 yards or more through the air in every game so far.

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

It won’t be business as usual for both teams, but Green Bay has the defense and Seattle doesn’t.

Both quarterbacks will be fine. Wilson just doesn’t have the guys around him the Rodgers does.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Philadelphia at Denver Game Preview

Why Philadelphia Will Win

The running game is rocking.

With Jordan Howard battering away, Boston Scott looking the part at times over the last few weeks like a lead back, and with the flash of Jalen Hurts, there are a whole slew of parts making the Eagle O move on the ground.

After running for 236 yards on Detroit, the ground game kept the game alive against the Chargers with a fourth straight 100-yard day.

There aren’t a ton of turnovers, Hurts has a way of helping the team comeback after a rough first 50 minutes, and …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Denver Will Win

Is that the Denver we’re going to be seeing the rest of the way?

Sort of a dud throughout the first part of the season, the Broncos lost four straight before slipping past the Washington Football Team. And then came one of the biggest shockers of the season.

From an attention standpoint, it helped the Dallas cause that Jacksonville stunned Buffalo, but getting down 30-0 against a mediocre Denver team was a disaster.

The Bronco D is starting to take the ball away, the run defense was solid, and the offense looked and played with a little explosion. Now on a two-game winning streak, there’s light at the end of the tunnel with the bye week coming up.

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

The Eagles will continue to run well, but can Denver do to this ground game what it did against Dallas?

Not really. However, Philadelphia isn’t getting enough out of its own defense against the run.

It might not be anything beautiful, but Melvin Gordon, Javonte Williams and the Bronco ground attack will keep pushing on the way to the win.

All of the CFN Fearless Predictions

Minnesota at Los Angeles Chargers Game Preview

Why Minnesota Will Win

The offense continues to work.

The Vikings might not be having a whole ton of luck with two straight rough losses coming off a bye week, but they’re throwing well, the running game is good enough, and it should all work against a porous Charger defense that’s not getting any better.

Los Angeles has a fun offense, but the run D it getting run over – it’s the worst in the league. Everyone but Las Vegas has hit 126 yards or more, and Minnesota will feed its rotation backs to get it all going.

However …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Los Angeles Chargers Will Win

The Viking defense isn’t holding up.

After making Cooper Rush look like he’s ready for a Hall of Fame bust in the 20-16 loss to Dallas, the Minnesota D got destroyed by Baltimore for 500 yards in last week’s rough overtime loss.

The Chargers might be leaky on defense, but they’re making up for it with their own explosive attack. This isn’t all that hard – when Justin Herbert and the passing game are rolling, they win.

Minnesota’s defense has been rocked against the teams so far that have an offense – Arizona, Dallas, Baltimore – and now …

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

Minnesota is desperately due.

It’s not going to happen.

Once again, Minnesota will be in a good fight and look in control for a long stretch, and once again the second half meltdown will come.

Los Angeles will be balanced, explosive, and it’ll come through late in what should be yet another thriller in a Minnesota game.

Atlanta at Dallas Game Preview

Why Atlanta Will Win

The Falcons might not have a running game, they’re missing star WR Calvin Ridley, and they’re not doing a whole lot on defense, but they’re managing to pull off wins with three in the last four games.

Matt Ryan has cranked up the passing game – Atlanta is 3-0 when he throws for 300 yards – and Dallas can be thrown on. All of a sudden, the Dallas defense has stopped taking the ball away, it’s allowing too many big throws, and now the offensive side is banged up with Ezekiel Elliott trying to push through a knee injury.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Dallas Will Win

Do you really thing Dallas will clunk two games in a row?

It’s like it took a week off after getting a week off – resting Dak Prescott against Minnesota to save him for the second half run – and then the offense didn’t get off the bus in a puzzling performance against Denver.

No matter who’s able to go, it starts with a running game that should be able to crank away on the soft Atlanta run defense.

But Dak has to be great, too.

For all of the good things Atlanta has done, it hasn’t exactly faced a who’s who of top flight passers since Week 2 against Tampa Bay. Start with the run, win with the passing game, and …

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

Dallas has to start taking the ball away again.

The defense came up with multiple turnovers in each of the first six games, and then … nothing.

Nothing against Minnesota, and nothing against Denver. The team isn’t sharp enough to not win the turnover battle, and it won’t.

Atlanta didn’t give the ball away against New Orleans, but the two it’ll give up this week will matter.

New Orleans at Tennessee Game Preview

Why New Orleans Will Win

What can New Orleans throw together?

No more Jameis. No Alvin Kamara this week – and maybe next week. Trevor Siemien at quarterback because Taysom Hill doesn’t seem to be quite back full – and, even though Sean Payton doesn’t seem to want to say it, doesn’t fit the offense.

The defense is still playing well enough to win.

Tennessee doesn’t have a running game anymore without Derrick Henry – no, Adrian Peterson isn’t the answer … maybe – and New Orleans will do everything it can to slow this down.

The combination of Hill and Mark Ingram should be able to rumble a bit on a decent-but-moveable Tennessee run D.

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Tennessee Will Win

Who’s playing with more swag?

Henry might not be around, but no problem … the Titans went in and made the Rams look like they didn’t know how to play football anymore.

It starts with the takeaways. Tennessee is making up for a whole slew of other issues with 12 turnovers forces over the five-game winning streak.

Again, New Orleans isn’t exactly bringing a who’s who of big-time offensive stars to this. This will be a grind, but Tennessee is good at that. The D should be up to the task, but …

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

New Orleans doesn’t turn the ball over.

The Saint defense can force mistakes, too, and the offense only has two giveaways over the last three games. The New Orleans coaching staff will junk it up a bit, get a good rotation going, and then …

Ryan Tannehill will go off against a Saint secondary that’s been torched by Tom Brady and Matt Ryan – at least yardage-wise – over the last two weeks.

Jacksonville at Indianapolis Game Preview

Why Jacksonville Will Win

Seriously, is Jacksonville … good?

It came up with a special defensive effort – for the love of humanity, enough of the Josh Allen on Josh Allen stuff – in the shocking win over Buffalo, but it’s more than that. It’s won two of its last three games, plays tough against the Bengals a few weeks ago, and they’re not all that terrible as long as they’re just functional on offense.

Indianapolis can give the ball away. Jacksonville beat Buffalo on three takeaways – yes, Josh Allen – and Indy turned it over five times in two games before the win over the Jets. However …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why Indianapolis Will Win

That was a total aberration.

Jacksonville’s defense has had its moments, but it came up with two takeaways before last week’s win.

Indianapolis is better in the turnover game, forcing two or more in every game but two, and coming up with at least one in every game.

Jonathan Taylor has busted out, Carson Wentz is fine when he’s not making mind-numbing misfire throws, and that defense is a whole lot better than it showed against the Jets when the team was just trying to get the game over with.

NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

That Buffalo win was cute and all, but Jacksonville isn’t scoring. It has just 16 points in the last two games, and it’s not going to breakout this week.

The Jaguar defense will keep Taylor in check, but Wentz will have a massive day – even with a forced interception in there.

Cleveland at New England Game Preview

Why Cleveland Will Win

You want to figure out the Cleveland team?

It does nothing for a few weeks offensively, and then roared against Cincinnati helped by some huge plays by the defense and a huge day from the ground game.

New England isn’t going to want to make this a shootout.

It’ll want to give away with its own running game, rely on the defense to take the ball away, and keep it all going with a slew of third down conversions.

The problems is that Cleveland doesn’t turn the ball over. The three against Arizona were an aberration with just one giveaway in the last three games. That, and the third-best run defense in the NFL should be enough to keep New England from finding its groove, but …

NFL Expert Picks, CFN Week 10

Why New England Will Win

That’s a good groove.

It’s almost like the team is well coached.

The secondary is pouncing all over every possible mistake – the Patriots have forced 11 takeaways in the last five games – but it’s the rise of Damien Harris and the running game that’s making all the difference.

As good as he is, Mac Jones is still a rookie.

The running attack that stepped it up with 120 yards or more in each of the last five games has helped control game after game, winning four out of the last five and going into overtime in the lone loss.
NFL Schedule, Game Previews Week 10,

What’s Going To Happen

The New England run defense has been a bit hit-or-miss, but it’ll do just enough to keep the Cleveland offense from taking over. Here’s the problem …

Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson are both in the concussion protocol and are questionable at best. But it’s New England. There will be a rushing option to come form somewhere.

Can the Patriot offensive line handle the Cleveland pass rush? Not really, but it won’t matter.

Cleveland will go back into its scoring funk New England slugs out a close, low scoring battle by maintaining control the whole way.
