Jason McCourty goes on epic rant before announcing Titans’ 3rd-round pick

Jason McCourty had quite the moment before announcing the Titans’ third-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

Former Tennessee Titans defensive back Jason McCourty was tasked with announcing the team’s 2023 third-round pick (No. 81 overall) on Friday night, but the “Good Morning Football” host added a lot extra to his role.

McCourty ended up going on an epic rant that not only went after the host city’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs, he also repped the Titans by going after the entire AFC South, while also staking the Titans’ claim to Oilers history.

Admittedly, McCourty’s rant went on a bit too long, making it awkward, but I can let it slide when he’s throwing shade at the Chiefs and the division in the process. Check out the rant in full below.

McCourty didn’t have the attention of Titans fans for long, as he went on to announce the selection of running back Tyjae Spears, which was a puzzling pick to say the least and rightly drew quite the negative reaction from fans and media alike, including from our own Shaun Calderon.

Putting that aside for now, a look at how Twitter reacted to McCourty’s moment.

WATCH: DeAndre Hopkins indicates Chiefs, Bills are preferred trade destinations

#Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins let his body language and facial expressions do the talking when it comes to his preferred trade destinations.

Arizona Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins has been the subject of trade rumors for over a month now. He doesn’t have any control over whether he will or won’t be traded, but it appears he has some preferred trade destinations should something happen.

In a recent interview with CBS Sports’ Bryant McFadden during “The Catch”, Hopkins was asked to react to some potential trade destinations, but only using body language and facial expressions and not words. Surprisingly he was only asked about four AFC teams (three AFC East teams). His body language and facial expressions narrowed it down to two potential destinations.

First, he was asked about the New England Patriots and he didn’t seem to have much of a reaction other than to look away. That one was presumably a “no.”

Next, he was asked about the Buffalo Bills. He basically nodded his head to suggest “yes” on this one.

Third, he was asked about the New York Jets, who still don’t have a trade done for Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers. Hopkins didn’t seem to want anything to do with that mess right now.

Lastly, he was asked about the Kansas City Chiefs. His eyes got really wide, seemingly suggesting that he’d be OK to land with the reigning Super Bowl champions.

Hopkins could wind up with any of the 31 teams in the league if Arizona does decide to trade him. Right now, there’s no indication that anything is imminent involving Hopkins. Still, it’s fun to at least get some inkling of the types of teams he’d be excited to play for.

There’s also this. . .

WATCH: Skyy Moore elevates to catch pass from Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes

It didn’t take long for clips to emerge of #Chiefs WR Skyy Moore training with Patrick Mahomes in Texas.

The offseason work continues for Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and a group of receivers that he’s hosting down in Texas.

It didn’t take long for some clips to emerge of second-year Chiefs WR Skyy Moore, who has been down in Texas with Mahomes from the get-go. The latest clip shared on the team’s Twitter page is one of the more impressive throws from Mahomes where he’s targeting Moore.

In the video, Mahomes is working on a “hands-up drill” with throwing coach Jeff Christiansen. Basically, they’re trying to work on Mahomes’ launch point for the football when a defender in front of him is trying to get their hands up to bat down the pass.

Mahomes gets the ball just over the stick that Christiansen is holding, throwing a beautiful spiral to Moore. Given the nature of the drill, the ball is a little high, but Moore is able to elevate and pluck it out of the sky with his fingertips before turning mid-air and hauling the pass into his body.

Moore finished the 2023 NFL season with a combined 27 receptions for 267 yards and one touchdown between the playoffs and the regular season. Fans are hopeful that that he can greatly increase that production with an offseason of work and more opportunity to thrive within the Chiefs’ offense. The glimpses of what we’re currently seeing from Moore out of Texas certainly make for a good start.

Titans drop video teasing reveal of Oilers throwbacks

The Titans dropped a video on Monday that teases the reveal of the Oilers throwbacks.

The Tennessee Titans are set to wear their Houston Oilers throwback jerseys for a home game in 2023, and the team recently dropped a teaser video that hints the reveal will come this summer.

The video features a black oil barrel that has the substance leaking out of the top of it, with “coming summer 2023” written on the front, which likely means the reveal will come then.

The only thing that can make the Titans wearing Oilers throwbacks better is if they do so against the Houston Texans, whose fan base is irate at the idea that Tennessee owns the rights to those jerseys.

That debate was recently re-ignited by Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy, who believes Houston should have the rights to the jerseys.

However, former Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan immediately shot that down, rightly noting that Oilers history belongs in Tennessee.

Titans beat writer Jim Wyatt is of the opinion the Titans will wear their throwbacks against the Texans, but fellow long-time beat writer John McClain recently explained why he doesn’t think they will.

I’m right there with McClain in hoping the Titans do wear them against the Texans, as it would certainly add more juice to the divisional rivalry.

Grading ceremonial first pitches from current and former Bucs players

As the Tampa Bay Rays are set to play on opening day, we wanted to see which Bucs players threw the best opening pitches on the mound at Tropicana.

It’s opening day, and there’s baseball in Tampa Bay.

The Tampa Bay Rays are set to host the Detroit Tigers for some MLB action on Thursday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, so that got us thinking — of all the former and current Tampa Bay Buccaneers players who got the opportunity to throw out a first pitch, who did the best? So we at Bucs Wire did the natural thing: We rounded up as many videos as we could of current and former Bucs players throwing a first pitch and graded them on the result.

So without further ado, here are five opening pitches from current or former Buccaneers at the Trop and our opinion on how they did:

Video of ex-Titans OC Todd Downing’s DUI arrest released

Video of former Titans OC Todd Downing’s November DUI arrest has been released.

A little over four months after former Tennessee Titans offensive coordinator and current New York Jets passing-game coordinator Todd Downing’s arrest for DUI, video of the incident has been released.

The video of Downing’s arrest comes from TMZ Sports, and in it the officer notes that Downing was doing “easily over” 100 MPH before he pulled him over.

The ex-Titans offensive coordinator, who helped lead Tennessee to a victory over the Packers in Green Bay just hours before his arrest near Nashville on his way home from the airport, apologized for speeding and told the officer he was rushing home to his family because he received a death threat.

“I never meant to go reckless, I’m just worried about my family,” Downing said.

The officer told Downing he smelled alcohol coming from the car; however, the 42-year-old coach denied he was drinking. Downing then went through field sobriety tests, which he failed, prompting his arrest for DUI.

After being put in the police car, Downing can be heard pleading for “grace” from the officer. He then calls someone with the team to let them know what happened before admitting he drank a “victory beer.”

Check out the entire video below.

Downing, who was fired by the Titans in January and hired by the Jets the following month, eventually served a 48-hour sentence in February.
