Genshin Impact voice actor encourages fans to bathe properly

A popular Genshin Impact voice actor advised fans to trim their nails and bathe before attending her concert so they wouldn’t offend people

A popular Genshin Impact voice actor advised fans to trim their nails and bathe before attending her concert so they wouldn’t offend other attendees. Rie Takahashi, who voices Hu Tao in the RPG’s Japanese voice track and also has a career as a band singer and solo artist, didn’t just ask fans to bathe. She provided them with a full self-care diagram on Twitter, complete with advice for how to behave appropriately at the event, which took place at the end of February (thanks, TheGamer).

The infographic Takahashi shared covered how to properly care for one’s nails and the best way to bathe to eliminate body odor. It also reminded people to wear a mask and included other relevant pieces of personal safety information as well.

A move like this could easily come across as offensive, and some followers joined in by poking fun at the stereotypical anime fans.

“Anime fan has discovered personal hygiene! The world is becoming a better place,” one Twitter user said.

Takahashi’s fans mostly responded in a positive way, though. One said they couldn’t bathe due to a serious injury, so Takahashi recommended wipes and dry shampoo, a suggestion they responded to with gratitude. Most thanked her for taking the time to make the infographic and assured her they would refer to it before attending the concert.

Takahashi didn’t post a follow-up about whether her fans actually followed the infographic’s advice.

Luka Doncic randomly showed up on an Overwatch 2 stream and had a priceless interaction with his team

Luka Doncic is him. He said it himself.

Sometimes, the worst thing about playing video games online is that you’ll have no idea who you’re playing with. That’s especially tough on team games.

Whether it’s a game of NBA 2k, Overwatch, Call of Duty or whatever else you choose to play in your spare time, it can be pretty exhausting teaming up with random folks out there. You don’t know how they play, so you obviously can’t trust them.

On the rarest of rare occasions, though, you might end up teaming up with an NBA superstar.

That’s what happened to a couple of Twitch streamers when Luka Doncic showed up on their stream of Overwatch 2. The funniest part is the dudes didn’t even watch NBA basketball, so they had no idea who he was.

Luka told them he plays for the Mavericks and then mans asked “like…varsity?” I’m dying, y’all.

That wasn’t it, though. They continued to interrogate our boy to see if he was really who he said he was. After all, people can fake personalities online. It’s reasonable to ask questions.

The streamers asked Luka when his birthday was and he proceeded to tell them it was February 28, which is accurate. Because, of course, it is Luka.

I don’t know what’s funnier — the fact that they still don’t seem to believe it’s Luka Doncic or the line of questioning Luka Doncic is being asked to prove that he is, indeed, himself.

Either way, this is fantastic. We need more random appearances from Luka on the internet. Come play 2k with me, buddy.

Bethesda finally announces a Starfield release date and showcase

After months of silence about the space game, Bethesda’s Todd Howard finally announced a Starfield release date

After months of silence about the space game, Bethesda finally announced a Starfield release date. Starfield will launch on Sep. 6, 2023, for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Windows and Steam, and producer Todd Howard said the team is planning a Starfield Direct for June 11, 2023.

Starfield, which is reportedly Bethesda’s biggest RPG ever, was originally planned for release in late 2022, before getting delayed to early 2023. It’s worth noting that the game hasn’t gone gold yet, which is when studios announce the project is completely finished, so it could be delayed again.

Xbox confirmed the Starfield Direct will air after the Xbox Games Showcase, casually announcing Xbox’s E3-but-not presentation in a retweet.

Howard said the Direct will take viewers inside Bethesda and show off more of Starfield’s secrets. He said that, while Starfield includes many of the studio’s hallmarks that fans of Fallout and Skyrim will recognize, it’s a unique experience with plenty of surprises in store.

As for what those surprises might be, Bethesda is still keeping its cards close. In the announcement video, you can see producer and Oblivian veteran Tim Lamb playing Starfield and catch a glimpse of new environments, including a rocky canyon with scrubby undergrowth climbing up the sides of a clifface – and that’s about it.

The last time Bethesda opened up about Starfield was during Xbox’s 2022 showcase, where Todd Howard revealed some of the massive RPG’s customization options and space flight mechanics.

The women who rocked the video game industry this year

So, this International Women’s Day, we’re going to celebrate five women (and one non-binary person) who have done great things in the gaming industry over the past year.

The Last of Us Season 2 may start filming in 2023

‘Yes’ – Pedro Pascal on the possibility of filming starting this year.

HBO’s The Last of Us might start filming its second season relatively soon, according to none other than Pedro Pascal.

During an interview with Collider, Pascal gave a non-commital but exciting answer about the possibility of Season 2’s filming starting in 2023.

“In the year 2023? Oh, what season are we in now? We’re getting into spring,” Pascal said. “Yes, there is a chance. Yes.”

It’s not much to go on, but hey: something to look forward to nonetheless!

Of course, HBO already renewed The Last of Us for another season, so it’s not a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’ it’ll happen. The first season was in production for several years – with filming taking place from July 2021 through June 2022 across Alberta, Canada.

We also know that Season 2 will follow the events of The Last of Us: Part 2, which most consider a much bleak game than the original. Seriously, we all know – that scene – is going to shock a lot of folks.

Thus far, the series has been a tremendous success for Sony and HBO. Many believe that the third episode, in particular, will take home loads of accolades during awards season. As for ratings, The Last of Us had the second-biggest debut for HBO since 2023 – coming in second only to House of the Dragon.

The Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story gets spring launch date

The action RPG will take players deeper into the Runeterra universe.

Mageseeker, the latest League of Legends spinoff game, has a release date at long last.

On Tuesday, Riot Games announced that Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is coming out on April 18, 2023, for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store. Pre-orders are already live, with the Standard Edition and Digital Deluxe Edition going for $29.99 and $39.99, respectively.

Mageseeker: A League of Legends Story is an action RPG with beautiful 2D pixel art that’s being developed by Digital Sun, the studio behind the critically-acclaimed Moonlighter. Check out the release announcement trailer for yourself below to see how stunning it is in action.

Over the past year and a half, Riot Games has steadily grown the League of Legends universe with several spinoffs. Hextech Mayhem and Ruined King were among the first, while Convergence will launch later this summer. There’s also Project L, the studio’s long-awaited fighting game that we’ll hopefully hear more about soon.

Given how staggeringly huge Riot Games is, it’s no surprise that the company is branching out well beyond League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant.

Riot Games veterans form The Believer Company to create a ‘next-gen open world game’

The studio has secured 55 million in funding for its first project.

Two former Riot Games executives have formed The Believer Company, an all-new studio that’s already working on a next-generation open world game with an original IP.

The Believer Company is an effort by Michael Chow and Steven Snow, Riot Games’ former vice president and League of Legends executive producer, respectively. While the studio isn’t ready to show off this mysterious open world game yet – it did secure $55 million in funding for the project.

“Players are the best audience to serve in the world. They’re noble, smart, discerning, and infinitely inventive,” Chow said in a press release. “We hold their investments of time, skill, and hard-earned money as sacred, and we will always put their needs first at every stage of Believer’s journey.”

It’s no secret that Riot Games is a juggernaut within the games industry, no doubt partially thanks to Chow and Snow’s efforts. Without League of Legends, free to play games likely wouldn’t have taken off, and the folks at Believer seem keen on embracing exciting new trends (not NFTs, either – thankfully).

“The last few years have brought forward some very exciting technologies. In our world, where the player is the focus, our goal is to bring select technologies into the development and gameplay spaces explicitly for the betterment of our players and the games they love,” Snow added. “Bringing free-to-play to North America and Europe with League of Legends really changed the landscape of how games as a service could work. It is our privilege to have the opportunity to help shape the future responsibly.”

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet patch is reportedly deleting save files

Maybe don’t download the latest patch yet.

Heads-up: it seems as though the latest update for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is seemingly deleting save files for many players.

According to Kotaku, a rather inauspicious bug in the latest update for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can ease a player’s save data. There doesn’t seem to be a single cause for these save-corruption woes, but many users on Reddit mention that the issue began after connecting their Pokémon GO account. Furthermore, others claim that simply downloading the DLC also wiped their save data. One user states they lost almost 600 hours of progress – brutal stuff.

So, if you haven’t updated Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in a bit – maybe don’t do it. At least not until the issues are ironed out. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have yet to acknowledge these bugs publically, though players in the aforementioned Reddit thread mention customer support is looking into it. Don’t worry about it too much, though – as this glitch seems to be only impacting a handful of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players.

There’s quite a bit of new content coming for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in the near future – specifically, two new Paradox Pokémon: Walking Wake and Iron Leaves. There’s also Okidogi, which is making fans go wild.
