Cleveland Guardians at Minnesota Twins odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cleveland Guardians at Minnesota Twins odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Cleveland Guardians (71-65) and Minnesota Twins (69-68) play the middle contest of a 3-game series Saturday at Target Field in Minneapolis. First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET (FOX). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Guardians vs. Twins odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Guardians lead series 7-5

The Guardians held on for a 7-6 victory in Friday’s series opener. Cleveland built a 7-0 lead in the top of the 5th inning, but Minnesota stormed back for 6 runs from the 5th through the 8th innings.

The Twins slipped to 3rd place with the loss, 2 1/2 games behind the Guardians in the AL Central Division, and they now trail the Chicago White Sox by 1 game as well. Minnesota is in freefall, going 2-7 across its last 9 games.

Guardians at Twins projected starters

RHP Triston McKenzie vs. RHP Chris Archer

McKenzie (9-11, 3.18 ERA) makes his 26th start and 27th appearance. He has a 0.97 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 in 158 1/3 IP.

  • Is 4-8 with a 3.41 ERA with a .202 opponent batting average with 76 K across 95 IP in 15 road starts and 1 relief appearance
  • Has managed an 0-2 record, 8.31 ERA and .290 opponent BA with 7 HR allowed in just 17 1/3 IP across 3 starts vs. Minnesota in 2022

Archer (2-7, 4.47 ERA) makes his 25th start. He has a 1.31 WHIP, 4.2 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 in 100 2/3 IP.

  • Allowed just 1 ER and 1 H with 6 BB and 2 K across 4 IP in a no-decision at Cleveland June 30
  • Hasn’t won in 10 consecutive starts dating back to June 25 against the Colorado Rockies

Guardians at Twins picks and predictions

Prediction

Guardians 6, Twins 5

Money line

The GUARDIANS (-125) are looking to stay hot. Cleveland has won 12 of its last 17 road games, including Friday’s series opener. The Guardians are also an impressive 5-2 in their last 7 games against AL Central Division opponents.

The Twins have been ice cold. Minnesota has won just twice in the past 12 games against teams with a winning overall record while going 1-7 in their last 8 against a right-handed starting pitcher.

Run line/Against the spread

The TWINS +1.5 (-170) stormed back and picked up the run line cover Friday, although they didn’t win outright. It was a miracle cover for those who took the chance. This one has an equally good chance of being a 1-run game, as McKenzie has had his difficulties against the Twins this season. He is anything but a sure thing.

Over/Under

OVER 7.5 (-105) is the best bet in this middle game. You’ll be going against the trends, as the Under is 11-4-1 in the last 16 road games for the Guardians and 7-3 in the last 10 games for the Twins against AL Central Division teams.

However, both of these pitchers have been very giving, especially McKenzie against the Twins. He has been a flamethrower this season, but the Twins have solved him, and taken him out of the yard plenty. Archer is about as inconsistent as they come, so look for plenty of fireworks here.

Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Boston Red Sox at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Boston Red Sox (67-72) and Baltimore Orioles (73-65) play the second game of a 3-game set Saturday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Red Sox vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Orioles lead 8-5

The Red Sox gave up 3 runs in the 6th inning in a 3-2 loss at the Orioles Friday. Boston RHP Brayan Bello threw 5 innings of no-run baseball for the 2nd straight start before his fortunes turned. He ultimately allowed 3 ER on 3 H and 4 BB with 7 K in 5 1/3 IP. The Red Sox have lost 4 straight games.

The Orioles capitalized off of Baltimore SS Gunnar Henderson hitting a bases-loaded single in the 6th inning in the series-opening victory. Baltimore had lost 3 of 4 games vs. the Toronto Blue Jays in its previous series, but the victory pulled it within 4 games of the final AL wild-card spot.

Red Sox at Orioles projected starters

RHP Michael Wacha vs. RHP Jordan Lyles

Wacha (10-1, 2.58 ERA) makes his 19th start. He has a 1.03 WHIP, 2.3 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 101 IP.

  • Last start: No-decision at Tampa Bay Rays allowing 2 ER on 7 H and 0 BB with 7 K in 6 IP Monday
  • Won his last 7 decisions
  • Last start at Orioles: Allowed 0 R on 4 H and 1 BB with 4 K through 5 2/3 IP in a win August 20

Lyles (10-9, 4.25 ERA) makes his 28th start. He has a 1.44 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 7.3 K/9 through 152 1/3 IP.

  • Last start: Allowed 0 R on 4 H and 3 BB with 2 K through 6 2/3 IP in a win at the Cleveland Guardians August 31
  • Won 6 of his last 8 decisions
  • In 3 starts vs. Boston this season: 1-0 with a 5.02 ERA through 14 1/3 IP

Red Sox at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Orioles 3

Money line

It’s time to buy low and sell high.

The Red Sox are not as bad as they have appeared in the last 4 games. Boston is 4-0 in Wacha’s last 4 starts following a loss in its previous game. The Red Sox should bounce back vs. an inconsistent Orioles team.

BET RED SOX ML (-110).

Run line/Against the spread

Giving up a 2-run lead late to the Orioles Friday should be embarrassing for the Red Sox. Expect an extra-focused Boston team to come out and try to win by margin.

BET RED SOX -1.5 (+145).

Over/Under

Friday’s low-scoring affair probably won’t be duplicated. Lyles has struggled to contain Boston’s offense this season and Boston’s extra motivation to not lose 5 straight games should make it even more difficult.

BET OVER 8.5 (-102).

Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Rays (78-58) and New York Yankees (83-56) meet Saturday at 1:05 p.m. ET to continue a 3-game AL East series at Yankee Stadium. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rays vs. Yankees odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: New York leads 9-8

Tampa Bay won Friday’s series opener 4-2. The Rays have won 4 straight games and 9 of their last 10. Over that stretch, they have outscored foes 50-19.

The Yankees — who now lead the Rays by just 3 1/2 games in the AL East standings — have lost back-to-back games after winning 4 in a row from Sunday-Wednesday.

Rays at Yankees projected starters

RHP Corey Kluber vs. RHP Jameson Taillon

Kluber (10-7, 4.00 ERA) is tabbed for his 27th start. He has a 1.12 WHIP, 1.1 BB/9 and 7.8 K/9 through 141 2/3 IP.

  • Owns a 4.78 ERA over his last 6 road starts
  • Facing the Yankees for a 2nd straight turn: tossed 7 scoreless frames against New York Sunday

Taillon (12-4, 3.95 ERA) has made 27 starts this season. He has a 1.14 WHIP, 1.6 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 145 2/3 IP.

  • Tossed 8 scoreless innings when he last faced the Rays (May 27)
  • Current Tampa Bay batters own an aggregate .552 OPS against him

Rays at Yankees picks and predictions

Prediction

Yankees 4, Rays 3

Money line

The Yankees are a walking wounded of late, with big names missing games left and right and up and down the lineup. However, New York’s offensive woes have been underpinned by support numbers that bring a lot of bad luck and timing into the picture.

NEW YORK (-112) is a sliver of a lean Saturday. Consider a partial-unit play.

Run line/Against the spread

Avoid the extra juice here. STEER CLEAR.

Over/Under

The UNDER (-107) is the strongest play in Saturday’s Rays-Yanks game. Both teams are grinding for the AL East flag, both have starters with overall numbers pointing to some ill fortune at times and both have bullpens in good shape at the back end where innings get dealt with more efficiently.

Arizona State at Oklahoma State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Arizona State at Oklahoma State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 10 Oklahoma State Cowboys (1-0) welcome the unranked Arizona State Sun Devils (1-0) to Boone Pickens Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Arizona State at Oklahoma State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

With high expectations in the Big 12, Oklahoma State will look to stay undefeated. However, it didn’t give bettors much to back in a Week 1 shootout, beating Central Michigan 58-44.

Oklahoma State did enter the half up 44-15, so this wasn’t as close as the score indicates. OSU starting QB Spencer Sanders went for 406 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Two drastically different offensive styles will clash as the run-heavy Sun Devils come to town. Arizona State beat Northern Arizona 40-3 in its season opener, but it did it behind 116 rushing yards from starting RB Xazavian Valladay.

Three different backs took double-digit carries with the Sun Devils topping 200 yards on the ground while starting QB Emory Jones had just 152 passing yards.

Oklahoma State is No. 10 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Arizona State at Oklahoma State picks and predictions

Prediction

Oklahoma State 38, Arizona State 24

Money line

PASS.

Arizona State should be able to reasonably hang with Oklahoma State, but at +350, I don’t see enough value to sprinkle on its ability to come out on top on the road.

OSU was a perfect 7-0 at home last season.

Against the spread

LEAN OKLAHOMA STATE -11.5 (-112).

Sanders accounted for a career-high 6 touchdowns in the Cowboys’ season-opening victory. He’s the real deal and should have his speed on display against the Sun Devils.

Also, Arizona State didn’t have a tough challenge in Week 1 and has many new faces, including 2 transfer defensive backs, 2 starting transfer offensive linemen, a transfer starting quarterback and running back.

While that could undoubtedly bode well for it in the long run, the Sun Devils will have Jones leading the way, and he didn’t play overly well at Florida last season. He’s difficult to trust in this situation.

Most of Central Michigan’s success against OSU came through the air, not on the ground. Jones only threw 18 attempts in a 40-3 win. OSU should be able to limit the ground attack and force Jones to win.

I’ll back that OSU is able to tame a Sun Devils group that hasn’t played a high-level game with each other so far this season. Back OKLAHOMA STATE -11.5 (-112).

Over/Under

BET OVER 58.5 (-105).

Both teams scored 40 or more points to open the season.

Although OSU should be smarter and put more in the box to stop ASU’s rush game (especially with more size than Northern Arizona), they did allow over 120 rushing yards against Central Michigan.

While the statement remains that OSU should be able to be better against the run, just at what level it can stop ASU is still in question.

On the other hand, Sanders should be able to light up an ASU secondary that has 2 new starting faces. His dominance should help push the pace of this game and inevitably the OVER 58.5 (-105) feels like the better option.

Hawaii at Michigan odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Hawaii at Michigan odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors (0-2) and Michigan Wolverines (1-0) meet Saturday at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Hawaii vs. Michigan odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Rainbow Warriors have not only lost each of their first 2 games at home, but they’ve looked really bad in doing so. Vanderbilt crushed Hawaii 63-10 in the Week 0 opener, and Western Kentucky rolled to a 49-17 win in the islands last weekend.

Michigan made rather quick work of Colorado State by a 51-7 count, covering a 31-point number. The Wolverines amassed 234 yards on the ground and went for 206 yards through the air in the easy victory.

Michigan is No. 5 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Hawaii at Michigan picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 66, Hawaii 7

Money line

There was no money line at the time of published, but it wouldn’t be worth pursuing anyway.

Against the spread

MICHIGAN -52.5 (-110) laying this kind of number is crazy, and it’s even more ludicrous to suggest taking a team to win by more than 7 touchdowns. However, that’s how bad Hawaii has been this season.

The Rainbow Warriors lost by 53 and by 32 on their home field against unranked teams, so you know the Wolverines are going to be putting it on them. It wouldn’t be surprising to see 70 in this one, quite frankly, before the Wolverines power it down.

Over/Under

OVER 67.5 (-110) is a rather high number only because of Hawaii’s ineptitude. Can the Rainbow Warriors score at all on this trip to the Big House? Colorado State managed just 7 last week, and it’s a heck of a lot more effective than Hawaii.

Michigan will get its points, and likely quite a bit of them early. The Rainbow Warriors have yielded 112 total points through the first 2 games against Vandy and WKU, so the Wolverines will find the end zone frequently. In fact, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Michigan take care of the Over, or come close to do doing so, all on its own.

Wagner at Rutgers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Wagner at Rutgers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights (1-0) welcome the Wagner Seahawks (0-1) to SHI Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Wagner at Rutgers odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Wagner is coming into this game following a 48-31 loss to Fordham. After being up at half, Wagner allowed 34 second-half points to its opponent and ended up being outscored in the final 2 periods 34-10.

Wagner starting QB Nick Kargman went for 2 touchdowns yet also had 2 interceptions with just over 200 yards. Kargman is a transfer from Western Michigan.

As for the Big Ten Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights are coming into this game having taken down 22-21. Rutgers went into the half down 14-6 but used a strong second half to stay undefeated.

The Scarlet Knights are led by starting RB Kyle Monangai who had a team-high 78 rushing yards. Rutgers had just 110 passing yards split among 2 quarterbacks.

Wagner at Rutgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Rutgers 60, Wagner 10

Money line

PASS.

There is certainly no value here. Upsets happen, and if this comes back on the board before kickoff, it’s not worth the risk.

Against the spread

LEAN RUTGERS -47.5 (-110).

Wagner allowed 38 points to Fordham, so when it plays a Power-5 program, the unthinkable could happen.

Rutgers should be able to run the score up, especially at home. Rutgers hasn’t beaten a program this badly since Morgan State in 2017, but it’s likely that this is a repeat of that brutal 65-0 beatdown.

The Scarlet Knights actually looked good with 322 yards and more than 200 of those coming on the ground. Wagner isn’t going to be able to keep pace in the trenches and should get ran over.

I’d bet on Rutgers to blow them out in this one, and the number dropped 4 points in your favor Saturday morning.

Over/Under

BET OVER 57.5 (-112).

Another way to bet on Rutgers is by backing the Over.

The Scarlet Knights went for 58 and 75 in their 2 non-Power 5 games last season. Having a significant edge in size on the offensive and defensive line, expect a strong showing that should be filled with lengthy runs.

Also Wagner’s Kargman was a three-star recruit, so he has some talent and should be able to get his side on the board, having scored 34 in their season-opening loss.

With Kargman hopefully getting Wagner a few scores, Rutgers dominant in the trenches and especially in the run game, expect a high-scoring battle.

Samford at Georgia odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Samford at Georgia odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs (1-0) host the Samford Bulldogs (1-0) Saturday in Athens. The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Samford vs. Georgia odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

(Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports)

Samford beat Kennesaw State 27-17 Thursday, Sept. 1. It was a come-from-behind win as the Bulldogs scored 13 unanswered points in the 4th quarter. QB Michael Hiers put up 289 passing yards with 4 touchdowns, while RB Jay Stanton had 16 carries for 90 yards. WR Kendall Watson was Heir’s favorite target with 9 receptions for 187 yards and 2 TDs. Samford will hope for a sliver of that offense to show up against a strong Georgia team.

Georgia will be looking to continue its dominance, coming off a 49-3 victory against then-No. 12 ranked Oregon. QB Stetson Bennett threw for 368 yards and 2 touchdowns with 117 yards attributed to WR Kenny McIntosh (9 receptions). On the defensive side of the ball, DB Malaki Starks had 5 solo tackles and an interception, while DB Christopher Smith had 3 solo tackles and a pick of his own. Georgia will be clicking on all cylinders in its first home game back in Sanford Stadium since their national championship victory.

Samford at Georgia picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia 68, Samford 3

Money line

Georgia is such a big favorite that some sportsbooks might not offer a money line. As of this publishing, Tipico Sportsbook didn’t list a money line. Even if it does before kickoff, playing such a big favorite makes no sense at all.

Against the spread

PASS. With a 52.5-point spread, this is not worth the risk. Georgia is going to blow Samford out of the water similar to the way it beat down Oregon, a much, much better team. This game should be decided by the end of the 1st quarter and the backups should get to see some playing time by the end of the game.

Over/Under

BACK OVER 65.5. (-108).

Both Georgia’s offense and defense will be far too much for Samford to handle. Samford will not contribute much to the total points in this one, rather Georgia running up the score will help hit the Over.

The Zips were able to open the season with a win, although it wasn’t pretty. Akron needed overtime to sneak by St. Francis (PA) of the FCS, 30-23. Akron actually allowed 189 rushing yards and 264 passing yards to the Red Flash but posted just 98 rushing yards and 286 passing yards of its own.

The Spartans vanquished another MAC opponent, topping Western Michigan 35-13 for the narrow cover. Michigan State led just 21-13 heading to the 4th quarter but pulled away with 2 late touchdowns to seal the deal.

Michigan State is No. 11 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Akron at Michigan State picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan State 52, Akron 10

Money line

Look, Akron (+1500) is horrible, and definitely in the conversation of which team is the worst FBS program in the nation right now. But Michigan State (-10000) will cost you $100 for every $1 won. There is no way to ever justify betting that kind of a heavy favorite, although people still choose to do so.

AVOID.

Against the spread

MICHIGAN STATE -34.5 (-110) is going to crush Akron, and the Zips are going to provide very little resistance.

QB Payton Thorne and the Michigan State passing attack should have a healthy amount of yards and several touchdowns against an Akron defense that was thrashed by an FCS opponent on its own field.

Over/Under

OVER 55.5 (-110) could potentially be handled by Michigan State with little to no help from Akron. The Spartans have the offensive weapons to go for a 60-burger, although coach Mel Tucker Jr. is likely to call off the dogs since he is a classy coach. Still, don’t be surprised to see at least 40-45 points on the board by halftime.

Northern Colorado at Wyoming odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Northern Colorado at Wyoming odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Wyoming Cowboys (1-1) welcome the Northern Colorado Bears (0-1) to War Memorial Stadium Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Northern Colorado at Wyoming odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Wyoming is entering this matchup with a win on the season, but it was brutally beaten down by Illinois in its opener, losing 38-6. It did win over AAC side Tulsa 40-37 in its 2nd game.

The Cowboys are led by redshirt junior QB Andrew Peasley, who transferred from Utah State. He threw for over 250 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Hurricanes.

As for Northern Colorado, it lost to Houston Baptist 46-34. Despite having a 20-point fourth quarter and 7-6 lead at the end of the first, the Bears still struggled to keep up.

They were led by both QB Jacob Sirmon and QB Dylan McCaffrey, each of which threw for over 175 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Northern Colorado will be heavy underdogs.

Northern Colorado at Wyoming picks and predictions

Prediction

Wyoming 38, Northern Colorado 17

Money line

PASS.

There’s just no value. Upsets happen, but I wouldn’t bank on one here.

Against the spread

BET NORTHERN COLORADO +24.5 (-112).

Wyoming was crushed by Illinois and then went to overtime with Tulsa. It hasn’t necessarily had quality showings. Northern Colorado can’t say the same, but it does have some talent on the roster.

One of their two used quarterbacks, McCaffrey, was a four-star recruit that transferred to UNC to play for his father, who is the head coach of the Bears. His talent may be able to keep this game within 4 scores.

Their starting RB Elijah Dotson is also a graduate transfer, so the Bears, despite struggling to open the season, do have experience and talent on their roster.

Also, Wyoming didn’t have many big-time wins last season, not beating either the Independent (UConn) or FCS (Montana State) by more than 3 scores.

Wyoming hasn’t beaten a Sun Belt team by 24 or more since Texas State in 2017 (having played 2 other Sun Belt teams since then).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 46.5 (-115).

The Bears didn’t play an efficient game and still put up 34 points. The Cowboys can say the same as they put up 40 points on the Hurricanes without having a player rush for over 45 yards.

With McCaffrey and a lacking defense, the Bears are certainly likely to get some garbage time scores as well.

The Cowboys would’ve barely missed this total in their opener but should be in control for most of this game, and without a strong run game, they could opt to keep the pass game hot and blow out the Bears at home.

Combine both teams’ hot offense in their last game, and I’d preferably play the OVER 46.5 (-115) here.

Middle Tennessee at Colorado State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Middle Tennessee at Colorado State odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (0-1) and Colorado State Rams (0-1) meet Saturday at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins, Colo. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Middle Tennessee vs. Colorado State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Blue Raiders traveled to James Madison last week and played a scoreless 1st quarter. Once the second quarter began, the wheels fell off. JMU outscored MTSU 21-0 in the 2nd and scored 37 unanswered points before the Blue Raiders final responded with a TD last in the 3rd quarter. The Dukes rolled to the 44-7 victory in their FBS debut.

The Rams’ road trip to Michigan went about as well as the Blue Raiders’ road trip did. Colorado State was trampled 51-7 in the Big House as it turned the ball over 2 for a minus-2 turnover margin and was sacked 7 times in the rout.

Middle Tennessee at Colorado State picks and predictions

Prediction

Colorado State 31, Middle Tennessee 24

Money line

Colorado State (-420) will cost you more than 4 times your potential return. In no way, shape or form did it show anything in Michigan last weekend which would warrant such a wager.

AVOID.

Against the spread

MIDDLE TENNESSEE +11.5 (-112) was a disaster last week at James Madison, but so was Colorado State in Michigan. The Rams have no business laying double digits to anybody.

The Blue Raiders will be much better, and so will the Rams. In fact, this game should be a pretty entertaining affair, as these teams who were embarrassed last week fight for their first victory of the season.

Over/Under

UNDER 58.5 (-112) is the lean here, as both teams scored just 7 points in their road trip losses last week.

The Under is 13-6-1 in the past 20 games in September for Middle Tennessee, while the Under is 4-0 in the last 4 September games for Colorado State. In addition, the Under has hit in 4 straight non-conference outings for the Rams, while going 8-1 in their last 9 against teams with a losing record.
