Taysom Hill has a couple rushing touchdowns as the Saints face the Falcons

Drew Brees is known for his arm. Taysom Hill replaced the injured quarterback, who is recuperating from 11 broken ribs, and is using his legs to get the New Orleans Saints in the end zone.

Hill has scored two rushing touchdowns in his first start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

Hill had 250 yards of total offense — a 57-yard TD pass was nullified by a penalty — with the game in the fourth quarter.

Report: Drew Brees has 11 rib fractures

It is more remarkable that Drew Brees remained in the game against the San Francisco 49ers last Sunday when one realizes the New Orleans Saints quarterback had 11 rib fractures and a collapsed lung.

The star QB, who was placed on IR Friday, told ESPN’s Ed Werder on Saturday that doctors found he has 11 rib fractures. 11!

New Orleans Saints place Drew Brees on Injured Reserve

The Saints will be without Drew Brees for at least three games after the quarterback was placed on IR

The New Orleans Saints will be without star quarterback Drew Brees for at least three games after playing him on Injured Reserve.

The team announced the move Friday amid reports Taysom Hill would get the nod over Jameis Winston to start against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 11.

Brees suffered multiple rib fractures and a collapsed lung while taking a hit against the San Francisco 49ers in the Saints’ victory on Sunday.

The next three games are against the Falcons, the Denver Broncos, and the Falcons, again. Brees could miss more time than that, as the 3-week time period is the minimum. The first possible game Brees could be back for is the Saints’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 13.

In nine games, Brees has completed 73.5% of his passes for 2,196 yards with 18 touchdowns and 3 interceptions.

The Jameis Winston experiment in New Orleans lasted all of one week. The Saints will hand the keys to their offense to Taysom Hill for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Hill has completed 4-of-5 pass attempts this season for 86 yards and earned 34 carries, for 186 rush yards, 1 TD. He also has six receptions for 74 yards and another score.

Winston came into the game against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10 when Drew Brees went down with what turned out to be multiple fractured ribs and a collapsed lung.

He was 6-of-10 for 63 yards.

Report: Drew Brees has multiple rib fractures, punctured lung

Drew Brees has suffered multiple fractured ribs and a punctured lung

The injury that Drew Brees suffered Sunday in the New Orleans Saints’ victory over the San Francisco 49ers is quite serious, per a report.

ESPN is reporting the veteran quarterback has suffered multiple rib fractures and a punctured lung.

The Saints play the Falcons in Week 11. If Brees can’t go, it would be Jameis Winston, who replaced the quarterback against the 49ers, or Taysom Hill.

Based on what happened against San Francisco, one would have to presume Winston would be in line for the start.

Drew Brees has suffered a rib injury against the 49ers

The New Orleans Saints are playing a team in the San Francisco 49ers that have suffered more injuries than any NFL team in 2020. Now, the NFC South leaders are dealing with a key injury of their own: Drew Brees.

The great quarterback did not start the second half for the Saints, who went with Jameis Winston at quarterback in the Superdome.

Word soon was that Brees is questionable to return with injured ribs.

Watch: Jordan Reed with the dazzling one-hand grab

Jordan Reed with a great grab of a pass … with one hand

When Jordan Reed is healthy, he is one of the better tight ends in the league. However, being cleared to play has always been a problem for the tight end.

He was in the lineup for the San Francisco 49ers’ on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints and displayed why he is held in such high regard.

Check out the amazing catch — with one hand, no less — he makes in the first half.

The man has the gift of grab.

Week 10: How to survive and advance in your knockout pool

Week 10: How to survive and advance in your knockout pool

Tampa Bay Buccaneers set NFL rushing record in loss to New Orleans Saints

It isn’t exactly a mark you want but the Bucs set the record for fewest rushing attempts in an NFL game.

The Buccaneers have a quarterback who has records galore. He is part of one now that he would rather forget.

With a kneel-down by Blaine Gabbert on the last play of the game in a 38-3 loss to the New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay had five rushing attempts.

That would be the lowest in NFL history. The Bucs had eight yards on the five carries, nine for Ronald Jones Jr. on three, none for Leonard Fournette on one, and minus-one for Gabbert on his kneel-down.

The Minnesota Vikings had six rushing attempts in a loss to the Buffalo Bills in 2018. Coincidentally, Latavius Murray, now a Saint who had 10 rushing attempts Sunday was on that Minnesota team. The Vikings had six rushes for 14 yards in a 27-6 defeat.

Others who had a six-pack of rushes were the New England Patriots who set the NFL record in 2004 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The quarterback for the Patriots in that 34-20 loss was one Tom Brady, who saw his team rush for five yards.

It was matched two years later by the Arizona Cardinals playing against the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings had 17 yards rushing in a 31-26 defeat to the Cardinals.

Watch: Saints’ Drew Brees shreds Buccaneers for 3 first-half TDs

The New Orleans Saints are off to a sizzling start against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The first half of the New Orleans Saints’ visit to Tampa Bay has been one-sided.

Drew Brees has been dismantling Tampa Bay’s defense while Tom Brady and the Bucs are struggling mightily.

Brees had three touchdown passes and only three interceptions at one point of the opening 30 minutes.

Brady, meanwhile, could nothing started. And after a pick of the G.O.A.T., it was 28-0. Remember, the Saints handled the Bucs in the season opener, too.

It was the biggest first-half deficit Brady faced in his 21-year career.
