2022 Mexico Open odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2022 Mexico Open, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The PGA Tour added a new event to its calendar this year, welcoming the Mexico Open to the mix. And despite being in its first year, the tournament has some big names signed up to play. Below, we look at the 2022 Mexico Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Jon Rahm is the overwhelming favorite this week, coming in at +425 as the outright winner. Tony Finau, Gary Woodland and Abraham Ancer are also in the field, tied with Kevin Na for the second-best odds to win. Daniel Berger was planning to play but he withdrew on Monday, lessening the firepower of the field a bit. Still, with five top-40 players, including the No. 2 player in the world, teeing it up it makes this a promising event.

Vidanta Vallarta will play host to the Mexico Open this week, and it’s a relatively new course. It opened in 2015 and was designed by Greg Norman, spanning 7,456 yards and playing as a par 71. It’s the first PGA Tour event ever to be on the Pacific coast of Mexico, so it will be a new experience for those teeing it up at the spectacular venue.

2022 Mexico Open – Expert picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 3:10 p.m. ET.

Jon Rahm (+425)

It’s almost comical that Rahm is only +425 to win this week, and the gap between him and the field is pretty considerable. There are a lot of mid-tier players, but without Berger, Rahm doesn’t face a lot of star power.

There’s a perception that he’s been struggling this season, which is half-true. Rahm is 132nd in strokes gained: putting, but he’s still 6th in total strokes gained and 1st in SG: off the tee. So his ball-striking hasn’t dropped a smidge, he’s just not putting that well.

There isn’t a ton of value in taking a guy to win at +425, but you can use it almost as insurance against your longer-shot bets.

Chris Kirk (+3000)

Kirk has quietly had a very good season so far, with top-10 finishers at the Honda Classic and Arnold Palmer Invitational, as well as 5 total top-25 finishes. Like Rahm, he’s had trouble on the greens, but he’s 21st in total strokes gained and 9th in strokes gained: tee to green.

It’s hard to know how this course will play, but Kirk’s iron play and relatively good accuracy off the tee will benefit him.

2022 Mexico Open picks – Contender

Russell Knox (+6000)

Knox played well in New orleans and is coming off a T-21 finish at the Zurich Classic alongside Brian Stuard. That has continued a trend from the last 2 months for Knox, who has only missed 1 cut since the start of February and has 4 top-25s this season. If he has a decent week putting – he’s 198th in strokes gained: putting – he can contend because he should hit plenty of greens (21st in SG: approach).

[tipico]

2022 Mexico Open picks – Long shot

Tyler Duncan (+10000)

Duncan may not be a name you’ve heard much lately but he’s been on the fringe of his first top-10 this season. He finished tied for 12th at the RBC Heritage and T-14 at the Zurich Classic after finishing no worse than T-35 in his previous 3 starts. He’s a risk to miss the cut (6 times this season) but if you’re looking for a long shot or a top-20 play, Duncan is a decent value.

2022 Zurich Classic at New Orleans final-round odds, golf teams to watch

Analyzing the golf odds entering the final round to win the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans at TPC Louisiana.

Three rounds are in the book at the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the only full-field team event with 2 golfers paired in a 72-hole event.  Below, we look at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans odds entering Sunday’s final round. Check back throughout the season for our PGA Tour picks, predictions and bets.

The team of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, which had opening odds to win of +750, hold a 5-stroke lead at 29-under 187 heading into the final round at TPC Louisiana, which plays to 7,425 yards, par 72. The leaders are the No. 5 and No. 20 players in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings.

The pre-tournament favorite team of Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa (+700 before the opening round and now at +50000) is tied for 28th at 16-under. Defending champions Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman, who won the 2021 event in a playoff at 20-under 268, are tied for 19th place at 17-under 199. They opened at +900 to win and are now at +50000.

TPC Louisiana was designed by Pete Dye and is a bunker-filled layout. There is little elevation on the course, which stretches over 250 acres of wetlands.

2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans – Final pairing

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated 12:27 a.m. ET.

This marks the fifth year the event has been played as a team format. The winning duo each get 400 FedExCup points each.

Patrick Cantlay/Xander Schauffele (-847)

The leaders shot a 12-under 60 in Saturday’s best-ball round after shooting a tournament-record 59 in Thursday’s best-ball round with a 68 in Friday’s alternate shot in between. They played Saturday’s back nine in 8-under 28 and their 29-under broke the 54-hole record by 6 shots. The team has made 26 birdies, 2 eagles and 1 bogey and would appear a good bet to break the tournament record of 27-under set in 2019.

Garrick Higgo/Branden Grace (+1300)

The South African tandem starts Sunday’s alternate shot final round 5 strokes back after rounds of 64-65-63. The 144th-ranked Grace and 326th-ranked Higgo, opened at +10000.

2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans – In the hunt

Before the final group tees off at 1:50 p.m. ET (CBS), keep an eye on these 3 teams as they try to chase down the leaders.

Billy Horschel/Sam Burns (+1000): Start 6 shots back at 23-under after rounds of 62-68-63. The No. 13 and 15th-ranked players opened at +1500.

Jason Day/Jason Scrivener (+3000): Australian duo 6 back at 23-under after rounds of 65-65-63. The No. 138 and 209 players opened at +7000.

Shane Lowry/Ian Poulter (+20000): Start 10 shots back at 19-under after rounds of 64-69-64. The No. 10 and 55 players opened at +2000.

2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans prop bet picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the odds for the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans with PGA Tour picks and predictions for the top prop bets.

Players will get a break from individual stroke play this week at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which is a two-man team event that includes two rounds of best ball and two rounds of alternate shot. It’s a unique tournament that pairs some of the top players in the world as they compete across 72 holes with a standard 36-hole cut. Below, we search for the best value prop bets among the 2022 Zurich Classic odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

There are some big names in the field at TPC Louisiana this week, including a few top players teaming up together. Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele are a promising tandem, ranking 5th and 20th, respectively, in this week’s Golfweek/Sagarin rankings. The most talented team might be Viktor Hovland (4th in Sagarin rankings) and Collin Morikawa (12th), while last year’s champions, Cameron Smith (11th) and Marc Leishman (33rd) know this event and its format well.

2022 Zurich Classic – Top-5 picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 12:59 p.m. ET.

Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman (+230)

Smith has won this event twice, each time with different partners. He missed the cut in 2019 and 2018, but he and Leishman made a great team last year en route to their victory. If Smith plays the way he did at Augusta rather than his performance at the RBC Heritage last week, he and Leishman will be in the hunt late Sunday.

Billy Horschel and Sam Burns (+250)

Horschel and Burns are a fun team. They’re both up there in birdie average, each ranking in the top 26 this season. Horschel’s putting will pair nicely with Burns’ ball striking, just as it did last year when they tied for 4th, finishing only 2 shots off the lead.

Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (+162)

It’s really hard not to like this team. Cantlay is getting hot after finishing second in a playoff last week, while Schauffele has no glaring weaknesses in his game. They have the shortest odds to come in the top 5, but it’s worth a bet because they could legitimately win this week.

Other T5 contenders (in order from longest odds to shortest):

  • Will Zalatoris and Davis Riley (+650)
  • Max Homa and Talor Gooch (+425)

[tipico]

2022 Zurich Classic – Top-20 picks

Bubba Watson and Harold Varner III (-120)

Watson has finished in the top 35 in each of his last 4 appearances here, though Varner hasn’t made the cut since 2016 at this event. Despite that trend, Varner is picking up steam entering this week after a rollercoaster showing at the RBC Heritage.

Sahith Theegala and Beau Hossler (+200)

There are always going to be a few surprise teams that crack the top 20 and this could be the pairing in 2022. Hossler missed the cut in his only appearance here last year, and this is Theegala’s debut. Experience helps in a format like this one, but sometimes a lack of expectations can also fuel a young pairing.

Other T20 contenders:

  • Denny McCarthy and Ben Kohles (+260)

2022 Zurich Classic – Matchups

Suggested play is team in bold (first team listed).

Scottie Scheffler/Ryan Palmer (+125) vs. Morikawa/Hovland (-145)

Morikawa and Hovland could very well win this thing, but they’re both in the bottom 25 among all players in strokes gained: Around the green this season. Their chipping could be their Achilles’ heel. Meanwhile, Palmer has won this event before and he’s paired with the No. 1 player in the world. I like this bet at plus money.

Homa/Gooch (-120) vs.  Sungjae Im/Byeong An (+100)

I love this pairing of Homa and Gooch. They tied for 17th last year and both possess the ability to rack up birdies. Ball striking will be on display in this tandem – Homa and Gooch are both top-30 in strokes gained: Tee to green. So, it’ll come down to making putts when inside 15 feet.

2022 Zurich Classic – First-round leader

Scheffler and Palmer (+2000)

I’m going back to the well with Scheffler and Palmer here. Palmer is steady off the tee, while Scheffler has been great on the greens and hitting approaches. If you like Scheffler and Palmer to win, you can get them at longer odds to simply lead after one round.

More expert prop bet predictions

Will there be a playoff? Yes: (+280)

In the four years this tournament has been played as a team event – it was canceled in 2020 – there has been a playoff twice. The biggest margin of victory was 3 shots in 2019 and the margin was only 1 stroke in 2018.

I like this bet at +280, given the overall talent in the field and the lack of a true odds-on favorite.

Will there be a hole in one? No (-280)

With two of the four rounds being played as alternate shot, you lose half of the opportunities for a hole in one during those rounds. Sure, players can be more aggressive in attacking pins if their partner is in tight during best-ball rounds, but I’m betting there won’t be a hole in one.

2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2022 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

Following a thrilling finish at the RBC Heritage in Hilton Head, the next stop on the schedule is the uniquely formatted Zurich Classic of New Orleans. This is the only full-field team event on tour, pairing two players together in a 72-hole event. Below, we look at the 2022 Zurich Classic odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

The Zurich Classic is a one-of-a-kind tournament with golfers pairing up for four rounds — two being best ball and two being alternate shot. The first and third rounds will be best ball with the second and fourth being alternate shot.

Cameron Smith and Marc Leishman, last year’s champions, are back to try to defend their title, and it’s no surprise they’re among the favorites. Viktor Hovland and Collin Morikawa are another powerhouse team, as are Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is partnered with Ryan Palmer, while Sam Burns and Billy Horschel make up another powerful tandem.

The Zurich Classic is hosted by TPC Louisiana, which is a par 72 and plays at 7,425 yards. Designed by Pete Dye, just like last week’s event at Harbour Town Golf Links in South Carolina, it’s a bunker-filled layout with more than 100 traps spanning the course. There isn’t much elevation change throughout the course, which is laid out on wetlands and features plenty of water.

2022 Zurich Classic – Expert pick

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 6:42 p.m. ET.

Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele (+750)

Cantlay nearly secured his first win of the season last weekend at the RBC Heritage, losing to Jordan Spieth on the first hole of the playoff. He struck the ball well and now ranks seventh on tour in total strokes gained.

Schauffele hasn’t been playing as well as Cantlay, failing to finish inside the top 10 since February, but he’s still 35 in strokes gained: approach the green, and that ball striking will set up well with Cantlay’s putting when they play alternate shot.

2022 Zurich Classic picks – Contenders

Harold Varner III and Bubba Watson (odds +3000)

Varner made a strong push at the RBC Heritage with a third-round 63. He  had a shot to get into the playoff on the 18th hole Sunday, but a 40-something-foot birdie putt just burned the edge. It was his third straight top-25 finish, including the Masters, continuing a strong stretch of play from the 31-year-old.

Watson tied for 39th at the Masters and while he hasn’t played a full schedule, he did have two top-15s in his first two starts this season. With Varner’s ball striking into the greens and Watson’s work around the greens, these two should have a shot.

[tipico]

2022 Zurich Classic picks – Long shot

Sahith Theegala and Beau Hossler (+8000)

This is obviously a long-shot play with two young guns who can get hot at any time. Hossler finished tied for 4th at the Valero Texas Open two weeks ago, one of his five top-25s this season. While he’s struggled with his irons (162nd in strokes gained: tee-to-green), he’s 7th in strokes gained: putting.

Theegala also has five top-25s and though he hasn’t finished better than tied for 67th in his last two starts, he played well at the Valspar and Corales Puntacana Championship. It’s a fun pairing that could surprise some people this week.

2022 RBC Heritage prop bet picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the odds for the 2022 RBC Heritage with PGA Tour picks and predictions for the top prop bets.

Many of the world’s top players head to Hilton Head this week to tee it up in the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. Below, we search for the best value prop bets among the 2022 RBC Heritage odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

The last two RBC winners are in the field. Stewart Cink is the defending champ and Webb Simpson won in 2020. Neither has played particularly well this season, but their track records at this tournament are strong. So, this could be a perfect time to jump-start their 2022 campaigns.

Justin Thomas is the highest Golfweek/Sagarin-ranked player in the field at No. 3. Fifth-ranked Cameron Smith, No. 9 Patrick Cantlay and No. 10 Daniel Berger are also here. Thomas (+1200) is the favorite, followed by Collin Morikawa (+1300), who finished fifth at the Masters last week.

Also see: RBC Heritage odds, picks and predictions to win

2022 RBC Heritage – Top-10 picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 3:36 p.m. ET.

Matt Fitzpatrick (+200)

Fitzpatrick made a late push Sunday at the Masters to finish top-10 for the fifth time this season, all in the last two-plus months. He’s playing extremely well right now, leading the tour in total strokes gained (2.053).

In his last four starts here, he’s only finished worse than T-14 once, tying for fourth last season. I love his value at +200.

Joaquin Niemann (+330)

Niemann has only played this tournament once, tying for fifth in 2020 with a score of 19-under, just 3 off the record-setting number set by Simpson. Niemann started the Masters strong with a 3-under in the opening round, but he faded down the stretch. His ball-striking with his irons will give him an edge this week.

Kevin Na (+500)

Na is a high-risk, high-reward play at this event. He’s finished in the top 10 five times, but he’s also missed the cut three times in his last six appearances here. Though he missed the cut last year, he tied for 10th in 2019 and tied for fourth in 2016.

He’s been hot the last few weeks, making it deep into the WGC match play event and tying for 14th at the Masters despite an unsightly third-round 79.

Other T10 contenders (in order from longest odds to shortest):

  • Russell Henley (+250)
  • Cameron Smith (+175)

[tipico]

2022 RBC Heritage – Top-20 picks

Webb Simpson (+190)

Simpson is not playing his best golf at the moment, which is why I’m much more comfortable betting on him to finish in the top 20 than I am taking him to win. He hasn’t finished better than 35th since last December and, although he’s been good around the greens, his ball-striking is lagging behind.

Simpson is an absolute horse at this course, though, making 11 of 12 cuts and winning the RBC Heritage once.

Denny McCarthy (+350)

McCarthy isn’t among the favorites, but he played well here a year ago, finishing tied for 13th. He also tied for 18th in his last start, at the Valero Texas Open, and ranks 45th in total strokes gained this season. At +350, he’s a good long shot pick to finish in the top 20 compared to others in the field.

Other T20 contenders (in order from longest odds to shortest):

  • Harold Varner III (+230)
  • Si-Woo Kim (+230)
  • Kevin Kisner (+200)

WATCH: PGA Tour is live on ESPN+! Get ESPN+

2022 RBC Heritage – Matchups

Matt Kuchar (-110) vs. Adam Hadwin (-110)

Kuchar has begun to pick up some steam as of late, finishing tied for second at the Valero Texas Open and tying for 16th two weeks prior at the Valspar. He loves this event, too, only missing the cut once in 18 tries, with six top 10s. Hadwin is playing well, too, with three straight top 10s, but Kuchar has a good track record here.

Alex Noren (+100) vs.  Billy Horschel (-115)

Noren has three consecutive top-30 finishes at this event and has made the cut in six straight tournaments this season. He’s quietly had a good season with two top 10s, and this matchup with Horschel – who struggled at this tournament from 2014-2020 – is a good one.

Shane Lowry (-115) vs. Corey Conners (+100)

In his last three starts at this event, Lowry has two top 10s and a missed cut. But he’s on a hot streak right now and is favored over the consistent Conners. I like Lowry’s chances to not only contend Sunday, but finish better than Conners.

2022 RBC Heritage – Top European

Matt Fitzpatrick (+380)

For all the reasons listed above, Fitzpatrick is a great pick here. He’s the favorite among Europeans, and his top competition will be Lowry (+400), Tommy Fleetwood (+650) and Tyrrell Hatton (+650). Outside of that group of four, it’s not a particularly strong field of Europeans.

2022 RBC Heritage – First-round leader

Ian Poulter (+7000)

Poulter was tied for fifth after the first round in 2017 and tied for the lead with a first-round 64 in 2020. He’s never missed the cut at this event and, though he’s had his share of struggles this year, it only takes one good round for this bet to cash.

Cameron Smith (+3000)

Smith shot a first-round 62 here last year and was playing very well last week before things went awry in the final round of the Masters. He made eight birdies last Thursday and has the ability to go really low in any given round.

More expert prop bet predictions

Group D winner: Kevin Kisner (+320)

This group features Noren (+300), Horschel (+300), Kisner, Varner III (+380) and Na (+400). While Kisner has the third-best odds to win the group, one could make the case he should be the favorite. Don’t let back-to-back missed cuts at the RBC Heritage the last two years scare you.

Winning margin: 1 shot (+250)

This event typically yields and exciting, close finish. From 2013-2019, the margin was either one shot or there was a playoff in six of those seven years. A 1-shot victory is a solid bet this week.

2022 RBC Heritage odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2022 RBC Heritage, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

If you expected a field absent of stars the week after the Masters, you’ll be surprised to see the names set to tee it up at the RBC Heritage. Many of the top players in the world are in this week’s field, heading from Augusta to Hilton Head in pursuit of a win in South Carolina. Below, we look at the 2022 RBC Heritage odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

World No. 1 and Masters champion Scottie Scheffler is taking this week off, getting a well-deserved break after winning 4 of his last 6 starts. Among the top players in the RBC Heritage field are Justin Thomas, Cameron Smith, Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Matt Fitzpatrick and Shane Lowry. Last year’s FedExCup champion Patrick Cantlay is also in the field. Stewart Cink will try to defend his title at this event, though he has long odds to do so (+10000).

There won’t be nearly as much elevation change at Harbour Town Golf Links this week as there was last week at Augusta National, though very few courses match Augusta’s terrain. Harbour Town is a par 71 and plays to 7,121 yards, featuring much narrower fairways than usual, especially compared to the ones players saw at the Masters. Webb Simpson set the 72-hole scoring record here in 2020 when he finished with a final score of 262 (22-under).

Patrick Cantlay (+1500)

Cantlay has certainly cooled off since the end of last season and the start of this year, failing to finish better than T33 in his last 3 starts. But that doesn’t mean he’s flat-out struggling right now. He’s still 16th in total strokes gained this season and outside of a third-round 79, he played relatively well at the Masters – though not as well as many expected, finishing T41.

He has finished in the top 10 three times at the RBC Heritage from 2017-2019 and you’re getting him at a little bit of a discount now compared to what his odds were earlier in the year.

Russell Henley (+3000)

In 13 starts this season, Henley has 8 top-25 finishes. He’s made the cut every week he’s played and is coming off a T30 at the Masters. He tied for ninth at the RBC Heritage last year and has 2 other top-30s at this event, which seems to suit him despite missing the cut in back-to-back years (2019-20).

Henley is one of the best ball-strikers around and with smaller greens and narrower fairways, that will be valuable this week.

2022 RBC Heritage picks – Contender

Matt Kuchar (+6000)

In 18 starts at the RBC Heritage, Kuchar has made the cut 17 times and has 6 top-10s, including a victory at Harbour Town in 2014. He tied for 18th last year and finished second in 2019. In other words, he loves this event.

After a rough month of February, Kuchar has gone T16 and T2 in his last two starts at the Valspar and Valero Texas Open. He’s on a good run right now, helped by his play around the greens (third on tour in strokes gained).

[tipico]

2022 RBC Heritage picks – Long shot

Denny McCarthy (+10000)

McCarthy tees it up almost every week and of the 16 events he’s played, he’s only missed the cut 3 times. Most recently, he tied for 18th at the Valero Texas Open while his best finish was T6 at The American Express in January.

Last year, he tied for 13th at the RBC Heritage and tied for 33rd in 2019, sandwiching a missed cut in 2020. He may not win, but he’s a solid bet to finish in the top 20.

2022 Masters Tournament final-round odds

Analyzing the golf odds entering the final round to win the 2022 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Ga.

Three rounds are in the book at the 2022 Masters Tournament and there are only 7 golfers with scores under par. Below, we look at the Masters Tournament odds entering Sunday’s final round of the 86th tournament in Augusta, Ga. Check back throughout the season for our PGA Tour picks, predictions and bets.

Scottie Scheffler, who had opening odds to win of +1500, shot a 1-under-par 71 Saturday and has a 3-shot lead at 9-under 207 heading into the final round on the tough Augusta National Golf Course, which plays to 7,510 yards, par 72. Scheffler, the No. 2 player in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, was one of only 9 players to break par Saturday.

Pre-tournament favorite Jon Rahm (+1000) is tied for 41st at 223 (+7) after rounds of 74-72-77. Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama, who won the 2021 event at 10-under par, is tied for 14th place at 2-over 218 after a third-round 77 after shooting 72-69.

The dream of winning ended for Tiger Woods (+199900), who defied the odds by playing the grueling Augusta National course less than 14 months after crashing his car, as he shot 78 after rounds of 71 and 74. He’s tied for 41st at +7, 16 shots back.

2022 Masters Tournament – Final pairing

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated 6:04 a.m. ET.

Since 2010 at Augusta National, 14 golfers have had led or shared the Masters lead after 3 rounds, and only 5 have won the coveted Green Jacket, including Matsuyama last year.

Scottie Scheffler (-200)

Scheffler got his first PGA Tour win on Super Bowl Sunday in Phoenix and has been on a tear since, winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational and WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play title. The 25-year-old New Jersey native has made 17 birdies and 8 bogeys in 54 holes as he bids for his first major title. Playing in his third Masters (18th last year, 19th in 2020), he ranks 28th on the PGA Tour this season in final-round scoring average at 69.0.

Cameron Smith (+250)

The 28-year-old Australian is 3 back as he tries for his third win this season. Smith, who won The Players Championship after winning in Hawaii in January, shot Saturday’s best round at 4-under 68; he had 74 in round 2 after leading with a 68 on Thursday. Opening at +1500 to win, the sixth-ranked Smith has 16 birdies, 6 bogeys and 2 double-bogeys in 3 rounds. He’s tied for second on tour in final-round scoring average this season 67.0.

Tiger Woods: 2022 Masters prop bet picks and predictions

Analyzing Tiger Woods’ odds and prop bets for the 2022 Masters with PGA Tour picks and predictions.

The week began with folks tracking the flight of what was believed to be Tiger Woods’ plane from Florida to Georgia. Since then, Woods has said he’ll tee it up at the 2022 Masters, hoping to complete a remarkable comeback from a horrifying car crash that left Woods’ right leg badly injured.

The fact that he’s even able to play competitively 13 months after that crash is incredible, and he’s become a popular pick to contend this week at Augusta. Below, we break down Tiger Woods’ 2022 Masters odds and prop bets and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

Woods isn’t fully healthy, even saying that scaling the hills of Augusta National will be a challenge. That’s the hard part for him: Walking 72 holes. However, when asked if he believes he can win this week, he replied very simply: “I do.”

He hasn’t logged an official round since the 2020 Masters that November, so he has some rust to knock off. But anyone who’s doubted Woods before has learned never to do so again.

Tiger Woods’ Masters odds and picks

To win (+5000)

At +5000, Woods is tied for the 19th-best odds to slip on his 6th green jacket Sunday. Anyone else who hasn’t played a competitive round in a year and a half wouldn’t have those short of odds, but this is Tiger Woods.

While it’s fun to picture him winning his 6th Masters and his 2nd in the last 4 years, we also have to be realistic about our expectations for the likely Hall of Famer. Fatigue could set in and/or rust could show up.

I’m not fading Woods, and I’ll sprinkle a little bit on him to win outright for the sake of having a rooting interest Sunday.

Top-5 finish (+900)

Aside from his win in 2019, Woods’ last top-5 showing at the Masters was in 2013. His track record at Augusta is undeniable. He placed T6 eight times during a 9-year stretch between 2005-13, always finding himself in contention. But this week, I’d rather go all-in by betting him to win outright or playing it a little safer to finish top 20.

Top-10 finish (+400)

A top-10 finish comes with decent value at +400. But when Woods finishes in the top 10 at the Masters, he’s typically inside the top 5, too, or wins outright. Of his 14 top-10 finishes as the Masters, he was in the top 5 12 times. For that reason, I’d rather take him to finish top 5 instead of top 10.

Top-20 finish (+150)

I actually like Woods’ odds to finish in the top 20. Yes, the field is loaded, but even in recent years, Woods has remained competitive and in contention. Plus, with the cut only being 50 players, as long as he gets to the weekend, he’ll have a good chance to finish in the top 20.

[tipico]

More Tiger Woods’ odds and predictions

Will Tiger Woods make the cut? Yes -110 | No -125

Yes. Woods can play Augusta with his eyes closed and hasn’t missed the cut at the Masters since – wait for it – 1996! Obviously, he’s playing this week under different circumstances, but still. I think he’ll be playing the weekend because he only has to be better than 41 other players.

Top former winner group (+900)

This is a pretty big group and a talented one, too. But Woods won’t have to contend with most of the top players in the field – guys like Jon Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Patrick Cantlay and Brooks Koepka.

Dustin Johnson (+240) is the favorite among the former winners, followed by Jordan Spieth (+280), Adam Scott (+650) and 2021 winner Hideki Matsuyama (+700). Woods is tied with Sergio Garcia and Patrick Reed for the fifth-best odds in this group and it’s a good way to bet him to have a good week without competing against the odds-on favorites.

Top American finisher (+3000)

This group excludes some of the top players at the Masters. Rahm, Cameron Smith, McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Matsuyama and Louis Oosthuizen all have better odds to win than Woods, but by his odds shorten a bit when taking him to be the top American. There’s too much American talent for me to take this bet, though.

More Masters coverage:

Tiger Woods’ Masters first-round odds

  • Leader +5000 (bet $100 to win $5,000)
  • Top American +3000 (bet $100 to win $,3000)
  • Top 5 +1000 (bet $100 to win $1,000)
  • Top 10 +500 (bet $100 to win $500)
  • Top 20 +200 (bet $100 to win $200)

I’m hesitant to bet any of Woods’ Round 1 lines. We just don’t know what his game is going to look like, nor do we know how he’ll fare walking around Augusta with all of its elevation changes.

Then again, if you take him to be top 20 after the first round, all it takes is a solid 18 holes for that wager to cash at winning ticket, not a full 72 holes.
