2022 RBC Heritage prop bet picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the odds for the 2022 RBC Heritage with PGA Tour picks and predictions for the top prop bets.

Many of the world’s top players head to Hilton Head this week to tee it up in the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. Below, we search for the best value prop bets among the 2022 RBC Heritage odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions.

The last two RBC winners are in the field. Stewart Cink is the defending champ and Webb Simpson won in 2020. Neither has played particularly well this season, but their track records at this tournament are strong. So, this could be a perfect time to jump-start their 2022 campaigns.

Justin Thomas is the highest Golfweek/Sagarin-ranked player in the field at No. 3. Fifth-ranked Cameron Smith, No. 9 Patrick Cantlay and No. 10 Daniel Berger are also here. Thomas (+1200) is the favorite, followed by Collin Morikawa (+1300), who finished fifth at the Masters last week.

2022 RBC Heritage – Top-10 picks

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 3:36 p.m. ET.

Matt Fitzpatrick (+200)

Fitzpatrick made a late push Sunday at the Masters to finish top-10 for the fifth time this season, all in the last two-plus months. He’s playing extremely well right now, leading the tour in total strokes gained (2.053).

In his last four starts here, he’s only finished worse than T-14 once, tying for fourth last season. I love his value at +200.

Joaquin Niemann (+330)

Niemann has only played this tournament once, tying for fifth in 2020 with a score of 19-under, just 3 off the record-setting number set by Simpson. Niemann started the Masters strong with a 3-under in the opening round, but he faded down the stretch. His ball-striking with his irons will give him an edge this week.

Kevin Na (+500)

Na is a high-risk, high-reward play at this event. He’s finished in the top 10 five times, but he’s also missed the cut three times in his last six appearances here. Though he missed the cut last year, he tied for 10th in 2019 and tied for fourth in 2016.

He’s been hot the last few weeks, making it deep into the WGC match play event and tying for 14th at the Masters despite an unsightly third-round 79.

Other T10 contenders (in order from longest odds to shortest):

  • Russell Henley (+250)
  • Cameron Smith (+175)

2022 RBC Heritage – Top-20 picks

Webb Simpson (+190)

Simpson is not playing his best golf at the moment, which is why I’m much more comfortable betting on him to finish in the top 20 than I am taking him to win. He hasn’t finished better than 35th since last December and, although he’s been good around the greens, his ball-striking is lagging behind.

Simpson is an absolute horse at this course, though, making 11 of 12 cuts and winning the RBC Heritage once.

Denny McCarthy (+350)

McCarthy isn’t among the favorites, but he played well here a year ago, finishing tied for 13th. He also tied for 18th in his last start, at the Valero Texas Open, and ranks 45th in total strokes gained this season. At +350, he’s a good long shot pick to finish in the top 20 compared to others in the field.

Other T20 contenders (in order from longest odds to shortest):

  • Harold Varner III (+230)
  • Si-Woo Kim (+230)
  • Kevin Kisner (+200)

2022 RBC Heritage – Matchups

Matt Kuchar (-110) vs. Adam Hadwin (-110)

Kuchar has begun to pick up some steam as of late, finishing tied for second at the Valero Texas Open and tying for 16th two weeks prior at the Valspar. He loves this event, too, only missing the cut once in 18 tries, with six top 10s. Hadwin is playing well, too, with three straight top 10s, but Kuchar has a good track record here.

Alex Noren (+100) vs.  Billy Horschel (-115)

Noren has three consecutive top-30 finishes at this event and has made the cut in six straight tournaments this season. He’s quietly had a good season with two top 10s, and this matchup with Horschel – who struggled at this tournament from 2014-2020 – is a good one.

Shane Lowry (-115) vs. Corey Conners (+100)

In his last three starts at this event, Lowry has two top 10s and a missed cut. But he’s on a hot streak right now and is favored over the consistent Conners. I like Lowry’s chances to not only contend Sunday, but finish better than Conners.

2022 RBC Heritage – Top European

Matt Fitzpatrick (+380)

For all the reasons listed above, Fitzpatrick is a great pick here. He’s the favorite among Europeans, and his top competition will be Lowry (+400), Tommy Fleetwood (+650) and Tyrrell Hatton (+650). Outside of that group of four, it’s not a particularly strong field of Europeans.

2022 RBC Heritage – First-round leader

Ian Poulter (+7000)

Poulter was tied for fifth after the first round in 2017 and tied for the lead with a first-round 64 in 2020. He’s never missed the cut at this event and, though he’s had his share of struggles this year, it only takes one good round for this bet to cash.

Cameron Smith (+3000)

Smith shot a first-round 62 here last year and was playing very well last week before things went awry in the final round of the Masters. He made eight birdies last Thursday and has the ability to go really low in any given round.

More expert prop bet predictions

Group D winner: Kevin Kisner (+320)

This group features Noren (+300), Horschel (+300), Kisner, Varner III (+380) and Na (+400). While Kisner has the third-best odds to win the group, one could make the case he should be the favorite. Don’t let back-to-back missed cuts at the RBC Heritage the last two years scare you.

Winning margin: 1 shot (+250)

This event typically yields and exciting, close finish. From 2013-2019, the margin was either one shot or there was a playoff in six of those seven years. A 1-shot victory is a solid bet this week.
