Kawhi Leonard and Paul George finally played together for the Clippers. The NBA should be very, very afraid.

Uh-oh.

It’s the NBA reunion — actually, just a union — we’ve all been waiting for.

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard played a Los Angeles Clippers game together. And you know what? They didn’t play that well, but it didn’t matter.

The Clips walked away with an overtime victory over the Boston Celtics … which means the rest of the NBA should be very, very afraid.

George and Leonard shot a combined 15-of-38 from the field and 10 turnovers. There was also this lowlight for George, known for his defensive prowess:

Yet they beat a really talented Celtics squad, thanks in part to Patrick Beverley, who played lock-down D, snagged a team-high 16 rebounds, hit four from deep and gave us one Oscar-worthy flop:

Leonard made his biggest play of the night with a game-saving block:

No wonder Doc Rivers deemed it, per USA TODAY Sports, “an ugly win, but it was beautiful.”

The takeaway should be that once George and Leonard figure out how to truly play together — and there’s SO much time for that — this team is going to be so annoying to play. The starting five (Leonard, George, Beverley, Mo Harkless and Ivica Zubac) is a nightmarish mix of lengthy defender, and then you have to worry about Lou Williams coming off the bench. By the time April rolls around, George and Leonard will figure out how to communicate on the defensive end, find their spots on the offensive end and rest enough to be fresh for the postseason.

Once they get it right and get healthy, it’s all over for the rest of the league.

The Celtics-Clippers game lived up to the hype (and more) with OT-thriller ending

The Clippers were at full strength with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George on the court, and took in the Celtics in a game that went to overtime. See all the highlights.

It’s fun when a hyped-up game comes out and exceeds expectations.

The Boston Celtics traveled to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers on Wednesday night, who finally had their full-look roster with Paul George returning from injury and Kawhi Leonard on the court.

The Clippers looked good. The Celtics also looked good! It went to overtime, a deserved result as for the entire game it felt like neither team could pull away. This wasn’t a game of big runs. They just traded baskets and stops all night.

The game went to overtime after Jayson Tatum went and broke George’s ankles and drained a huge three to tie the game late, but the Clippers went on a nice run in OT and were able to hang on and win 107-104, thanks in part to a fantastic last-second block from Leonard.

If you had to ask: No, Leonard didn’t celebrate at all, because he’s Kawhi Leonard.

It was a bit of a wonky game because it’s clear that George and Leonard are still figuring things out. It’s wild to say that, considering George finished with 25-5-8 and Leonard finished with 17-6-3, but Leonard especially was a little more deferential than we usually see him. It was also a bit wonky in that the Celtics’ Kemba Walker had an uncharacteristic off night, finishing with 13 points on 4 of 17 shooting.

Tatum had 30 though, and backup point guard Brad Wanamaker came hot off the bench and got 14 points.

Potential finals matchup? Maybe. Sure. We’d do that.

Kawhi Leonard had the most Kawhi Leonard reaction to his game-sealing block at the buzzer

Kawhi Leonard didn’t seem all that impressed by Kawhi Leonard.

The Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics played a great November NBA game Wednesday night that was ultimately won in overtime by the Clippers, 107-104, who were playing with Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in the lineup together for the first time this season.

The Clippers stormed back in the final minutes of regulation to take the lead but a 3-pointer by Jayson Tatum tied things up and then a missed 3-pointer by Leonard at the buzzer sent the game to overtime.

The Celtics had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer in OT but Leonard flew through the air to block Kemba Walker’s 3-point attempt:

Did you see his reaction to that block?

One. Clap.

LOL:

That’s so Kawhi it’s perfect.

WATCH: LeBron James becomes first NBA player to record triple-double against all 30 teams

LeBron James made NBA history becoming the first player to get a triple-double against all 30 teams in the league.

LeBron James has added yet another basketball milestone to his long list of them, becoming the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double against all 30 teams in the league.

He did so Tuesday night in a 112-107 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Staples Center, going for 25 points, 11 boards and 10 assists. That marked his fifth triple-double of the season and the 86th of his career.

“Coach (Frank) Vogel came in here and said, ‘Congratulations,’ and I thought he was joking about my seven turnovers,” James said to the Associated Press. “I really don’t know what to think about it. I just think it’s a pretty cool stat to know, and I’m glad it happened in a win.”

Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook is next in line to get a triple-double against all 30 teams, only missing his former team of 11 years, Oklahoma City.

Luka Doncic humiliated the Warriors with a historic first quarter

Luke Doncic embarrassed Golden State in the first quarter.

So yeah, Luka Doncic is really, really good at basketball.

The second-year star of the Dallas Mavericks entered Wednesday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors averaging just under 30 points a contest. He also has 10.7 rebounds a game and 9.3 assists.

Earlier this week our Charles Curtis gave you six reasons why Doncic is the favorite to win the NBA MVP award this season.

Then Wednesday night he went out and had a monster first quarter against the banged-up Warriors, putting up numbers that haven’t been seen since Allen Iverson in 2003.

Check out what he did to poor Golden State, who added Draymond Green to their list of injured stars before the game:

He had 22 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists in the first:

He then had a good second quarter, too:

And he had another triple-double before the fourth quarter:

This adds to his historic run of late:

Yup, the 20 year old is pretty good.

The Clippers may have landed the best player in the NBA when acquiring Leonard during the offseason. As the reigning Finals MVP, Leonard’s combination of defensive ability and scoring acumen has him consistently talked about as the best all-around player in the league. Combined with the newly acquired Paul George, the Clippers have two stars that can potentially carry them to the promised land.

But the NBA is about depth as much as it is about star power, and the Clippers have that as well. Defending sixth man of the year Lou Williams is still available to give second units around the league nightmares, while players like Montrezl Harrell should see easier opportunities now that defenses have to focus on Leonard and George. Whether this group can get on the same page in time for a postseason run remains to be seen, but this unit could be the most exciting in the history of the Clippers.

Ben Simmons hit his first official 3-pointer and NBA fans had lots of jokes

Ben Simmons’ first 3-pointer with the Titanic song is pretty good.

Ben Simmons, the No. 1 overall pick of the 2016 NBA draft, did the once unthinkable Wednesday night as he launched a shot from behind the 3-point line and by golly the darn thing went through the hoop.

Yup, Simmons finally hit the first 3-pointer of his NBA career Wednesday night against the New York Knicks (because of course the Knicks allowed this history to happen).

Simmons hit one 3-pointer during a preseason game against a team from China, which made us all wonder if he’d be able to add this shot to his game this year. But now he has an official 3-pointer under his belt, which who knows how much that could change things for him moving forward.

Here’s the moment NBA fans will never forget:

The Brooklyn Nets were one of the pleasant surprises of the 2018-19 NBA season, with their young core earning a playoff spot ahead of schedule. This year, they come into the season with higher expectations as a result of some key player acquisitions in the offseason. In a wide open Eastern Conference, the Nets will look to exceed expectations once again.

The Nets won’t be at the peak of their power this season as they await the return of Kevin Durant from the injury he suffered in last year’s NBA Finals. However, the Nets will have Kyrie Irving to lead them this season after he signed as a free agent during the offseason. Irving is an artist with the basketball in his hands, but the question will be how the team’s chemistry changes with Irving now in the fold.

Also interesting will be how the young players on the Nets adjust to smaller roles after last season’s success. Players like Spencer Dinwiddie propelled the Nets for much of last season but will have to take a back seat to Irving and eventually Durant. If they can evolve into solid role players, the Nets could become championship contenders over the next couple of seasons. However, all of that starts with continued development from the young players on the roster this season.

Trusting the process has finally paid off in Philadelphia. After a long rebuilding period, the 76ers are now legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference. In 2018, the young Sixers emerged as a serious threat late in the season with a remarkable 16-game win streak to close out the season. While their playoff run was cut short due to a loss to the eventual NBA champion Toronto Raptors, there’s a ton of expectations and hope for 2019.

So far, so good for the Sixers. All-Star center Joel Embiid has picked up right where he left off last season. He’s averaging 22.3 points per game, while also averaging 11.8 rebounds. Couple him with offseason acquisition Al Horford, who is putting up 15.9 points and 7.4 boards per game, and they have formed one of the most formidable frontcourt tandems in the league.

Philly isn’t just strong in the paint. In fact, the team has five players averaging double-figures in points. The Sixers also have a very solid bench to pull from in case of injury or fatigue. It’s for these reasons that many believe they’ll challenge for the top spot in the East. It won’t be easy with the likes of Milwaukee and Boston again looking strong, but there’s a ton of optimism around this talented bunch.

How to Watch New York Knicks, NBA Live Stream, Knicks vs 76ers, Schedule, TV Channel, Start Time

Watch the New York Knicks 2019-20 Season Online.

Whoever coined the phrase ‘progress is a slow process’ was likely a New York Knicks fan. One of the most prestigious sports franchises in the entire world may still be as recognizable as any NBA team, but its on-court success has left them unrecognizable in the competitive sense. Going into a sixth straight season without a playoff appearance, several rebuilding attempts have come and gone in the Big Apple. Can the Knicks latest effort at building a roster able to compete be the one that gets them back on track?

RJ Barrett is the latest to bear the pressure of getting the iconic Knicks brand back into the spotlight. The No. 3 overall pick out of Duke has been tapped to be the face of the franchise heading into the future. So far, early in his rookie season, it’s been an up and down project. The 19-year-old is averaging a respectable 15.8 points per game.

Like Barrett, the Knicks as a whole have a lot of work to do to get to a level where they’re competing for a playoff spot, much less with the best teams in the Eastern Conference. There are reasons for hope in New York, even if they may seem distant. Yes, the likes of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving passed on the chance to sign, but the addition of Julius Randle in conjunction with Barrett gives the Knicks something to build off of. Perhaps another strong draft class or two and some improved luck in the free agent market could be what gets them heading back into the direction their fans expect.
