Chet Holmgren shared his emotions from the hospital after a heartbreaking hip injury

This was remarkable insight into the mind of Chet Holmgren after a tough injury.

Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren went down with an injury during the first quarter against the Golden State Warriors.

While contesting a layup attempt against Warriors wing Andrew Wiggins on Sunday, the 22-year-old made an effort to stop the basket and then landed on his hip.

Unfortunately for Holmgren, he could not put much weight on his right leg following the play and needed help to the locker room. The team then later announced he suffered a pelvic fracture and they would then provide another update in eight to ten weeks.

Holmgren, who also missed his first professional season due to injury, shared his thoughts from the hospital room after the diagnosis:

“Can’t tell if I feel better or worse about this having been through something similar before. On one hand I know how to approach it, I know what to do, what not to do and how beautiful the other side is. But on the other hand I’ve felt the frustration of this process, and the wear it puts on your mind. Most of all I’m hurt I can’t help my teammates and play for our fans and supporters for a while. Everyone who sticks with me and our team, along with my need for hoops, is a big part of my passion to return. Don’t pity me or feel bad, there’s lots of people out there rn with real problems that don’t heal. Anyways excuse my rambling just wanted to address our okc fans and family.”

The 7-foot-1 big man is expected to return to action for the Thunder later this season, but it is unclear when.

Oklahoma City is currently playing without big man Isaiah Hartenstein and backup big man Jaylin Williams as well.

Although he was clearly feeling emotional about his injury, Holmgren was also frustrated that Wiggins still scored on the possession.

That is the exact kind of mentality that makes him such an impactful player on both sides of the ball for the Thunder.

LeBron James had hilarious reaction to fan who encouraged his triple-double

This was such a funny move by LeBron.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James needed just one more rebound to record his second consecutive triple-double.

With two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the 39-year-old star pulled down his tenth board of the game against the Toronto Raptors. Immediately after grabbing the rebound, the four-time NBA Finals MVP pointed at a fan who was watching the game.

James was clearly aware of his accomplishment, which actually marked the second game in a row that he was able to achieve as much. But it seemed the fan was fully aware of what just happened as well.

After the game, James was asked about the exchange with the fan.

He spoke candidly about what happened in that moment.

According to James, the fan yelled “one more rebound” which got his attention.

So when he was done cleaning the glass, James made sure that he acknowledged that he was listening.

Bill Burr roasted Shaquille O’Neal promoting stuff in SNL monologue

Bill Burr roasted Shaq.

Bill Burr’s monologue after the cold open of the latest Saturday Night Live did touch on the election, but he ventured into other subjects as stand-up comedians do.

And Shaquille O’Neal ended up being roasted.

Burr talked about waking up in the middle of the night recently and was greeted by Shaq promoting printer ink. He did a little O’Neal impression and then made jokes.

MORE SNL: Weekend Update made a Bronny James joke

“Dude, is there no end to that guy’s credibility?” Burr asked. “I thought when he was selling Buicks, that was the end of it. … It blows my mind, doesn’t he even have like a billion dollars at this point?

Watch below — the Shaq stuff starts around the 6-minute mark:

SNL Weekend Update somehow made a Bronny James joke about Donald Trump’s win

We promise, it makes actual sense.

Of course the Weekend Update segment on Saturday Night Live this week — hosted by Bill Burr — was going to deal with the 2024 presidential election, as the cold open did.

And wouldn’t you know it? There was a sports joke woven in about it.

Here’s what Michael Che said: “Clearly, I’ve been spending too much time with you white liberals and your goofy optimism. It wasn’t even close. At one point, [Donald] Trump was so far ahead, they put in Bronny [James].”

A clear reference to a blowout victory that would feature Bronny getting put in because the Los Angeles Lakers game would be out of reach.

Watch below, around the 1:04-minute mark:

NBA legends: Their stats in Finals losses

For some, it’s all about the rings when ranking players.

But if you look at the numbers of NBA stars in Finals they lost, it shows how flawed that logic can be. Sometimes, opponents are just too tough to overcome despite heroic performances.

Jerry West, LeBron James and Kevin Durant, for example, all posted stat lines in defeats that would have gotten them Finals MVP without a doubt had they won their series. West actually did win Finals MVP in 1969 despite his Los Angeles Lakers falling to the Boston Celtics in Game 7, making him the only player in league history to earn Finals MVP despite losing in the championship series.

And looking at some of the numbers below, maybe that’s something that should happen more often.

Besides West, James and Durant, there are a few other players who have a reputation for struggling to win the big one below who actually posted great numbers in defeat.

Sabrina Ionescu wants to partner with Caitlin Clark vs. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson in All-Star shooting contest

Sabrina and Caitlin vs. Steph and Klay? We would like to see it.

One of the highlights of NBA All-Star Weekend last season was the 3-point shooting contest between Golden State Warriors’ guard Steph Curry and New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu. NBA stars made picks and chose sides, WNBA stars had takes too, and in the end, Curry got the edge over Ionescu 29-26.

Because of how compelling and entertaining the shootout was, a lot of folks want Curry and Ionescu to run it back.

And some folks want to add an extra wrinkle to the contest, making it a two-on-two matchup, with Curry and his former co-Splash Brother Klay Thompson on one side, and Ionescu with a WNBA partner on the other.

Who would Ionescu pick? She revealed her answer in the hypothetical scenario on Saturday when she joined the FOX college football set ahead of her top-ranked alma mater Oregon hosting Maryland.

“If I would have to choose, I’m taking Caitlin Clark on my team.”

Was there really any other choice?

This past season, Clark and Ionescu ranked first and fourth respectively in 3-pointers made per game, and both knocked down north of 100 shots from behind the arc.

Let’s see it. Set up Klay and Steph versus Caitlin and Sabrina at All-Star Weekend 2025.

There aren’t many stars who can boast about besting Michael Jordan, widely regarded as the greatest of all time by most basketball fans. Though MJ gave everybody the business, a bunch of NBA luminaries managed to beat him more often than not during his early days with the weak Chicago Bulls roster in the mid-80s or when he donned the Washington Wizards jersey.

Few accomplished that when MJ and his team were at the peak of their powers – most notably a towering center from the Western Conference.

Here’s a list of stars who retired with a winning record against the GOAT:

The Vince Carter crying and screaming meme has taken over the internet in so many amazing ways

The Vince Carter meme is EVERYWHERE.

Vince Carter has been a meme in the past — I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used his “It’s over” GIF from the 2000 Slam Dunk Contest.

But now? Thanks to his crying and celebrating reaction to his jersey being retired in Toronto with the Raptors, he’s got a whole new meme that might be the biggest of 2024. He’s sobbing, shaking his hands and then screaming “COME ON!!!” to the grateful crowd. It’s wonderful, but also perfect meme fodder.

So here’s a roundup of some of the best ones we’ve seen from fans using the clip of the Hall of Famer:
