Can Air Force keep on rolling despite replacing most of last years starters?

WEEK 1: Air Force Falcons 0-0 vs. Merrimack College Warriors 0-0

WHEN: Saturday, Aug. 31, 1:30 p.m. MT

WHERE: Falcon Stadium (Colorado Springs, CO)

TV: CBS Sports Network; Chris Lewis- play by play, Robert Turbin- Analyst and Amanda Guerra- reporter

GAME NOTES (PDF): Air Force

The wait is finally over, Air Force football has arrived! The last time we saw the Falcons in action, they were pummeling James Madison in the Armed Forces Bowl. This of course was the win to stop a four-game losing skid to end the regular season, which ironically was preceded by a blazing 8-0 start to the year. A lot of ups and downs along the ride to a 9-win campaign.

The reset button has been pressed, and we will be seeing a very different team in 2024. The hope is to have similar results to what Troy Calhoun has been able to manifest consistently in Colorado Springs over the years, but with a lot of new starters.

Historically, the season opener for Air Force has often been an FCS opponent, and with very consistent results. A win. The Falcons are 27-0 all-time against the FCS, while Troy Calhoun has led the team to victory in 17 of those wins. Standing in the way of a 1-0 start to the 2024 season are the Merrimack College Warriors from the FCS level MAAC.

The Warriors were 5-6 last season, finishing sixth in their conference with a 4-3 record. Last years team was led by running back Tyvon Edmonds Jr. who rushed for more than 1,200 yards and collected 10 touchdowns. Well Edmonds Jr. has since transferred to Robert Morris University, who Air Force opened the season against last year.

Trying to fill the void for all those rushing yards this year will predominantly be Donovan Wadley, who is on the Walter Payton Award Watch List. Wadley ran for just over 200 yards last year, averaging over 6 yards per carry on the way to three touchdowns. The belief is that he will be able to deliver at a very high level with the increased opportunities. He is the first player from Merrimack to ever be named to the Award’s pre-season list.

They also return their starting quarterback from last year, Malakai Anthony, who presents as a dual threat. Expect Merrimack to lean on their ground.

PREDICTION

At risk of marginalizing their opponent Saturday, the focus for Air Force will be a lot more about chemistry, execution and exiting the game healthy. There are a lot of new players in critical positions that will be getting acclimated as starters against the Warriors. This is the time work the kinks out, before speeding right into Conference play against San Jose State in week two.

Expect John Busha, Dylan Carson and the newly crested offensive line to get to work early and often before relenting to some depth players as the game wears on. The same should be said for the defense with a lot of new guys in the starting line-up, supported by some absolute studs like Payton Zdroik, Camby Goff and Jamari Bellamy.

Colorado Springs is a long way from North Andover, Massachusetts. Thankfully the weather is outstanding this time of year in Colorado, because that should be more enjoyable for Merrimack than the game, unfortunately. It will be good to find their rhythm against an FCS opponent before the competition really stiffens for the balance of the Air Force 2024 calender.

With a few new friends joining an already-enigmatic bunch, this is gearing up to be a very Mountain West-like season. Seven of the conference’s 12 teams will be showcasing a first-year head coach, one of which is returning to the Mountain West coach and two of which still have an interim tag attached. Of those two, one is the youngest coach in the FBS and the other took the job so recently that it was his predecessor at Mountain West Media Days. To add to the strangeness and excitement, the 12-team playoff has arrived, providing a clear and defined path to the College Football Playoff. This has given the Mountain West a real opportunity and the stakes have never been higher. If things fall into place just right, the Mountain West championship could mean a chance to play in the College Football Playoff.

The Mountain West is a tough league but until proven otherwise, it will appear to be a race to play, or replace, Boise State in the title match. The Broncos will have to ward off some formidable suitors. Fresno State, UNLV, and Wyoming will be gunning for a top spot. At the bottom, a trio of Nevada, New Mexico, and San Jose State will be looking to find their footing with the rest of the pack fitting somewhere in between.

Before we take a look at the conference, let’s take a look at the friends of the Mountain West. This year the Mountain West will have some visitors from the Pac-12. Oregon State and Washington State have both taken a beating on and off the field. Left behind as the only remaining members of their conference the two teams couldn’t even field a schedule. The two teams entered into a scheduling agreement with the Mountain West, so even though they won’t be eligible for the title game, they will be playing a Mountain West schedule.

Washington State

Jake Dickert’s Washington State didn’t get the kindest draw in the Mountain West slate and doesn’t have the easiest non-conference schedule either.

The Cougars open with Portland State, Texas Tech, Washington, San Jose State, and Boise State before their first bye. Portland and San Jose State represent winnable games, but the other three will be tough and they could pretty easily be 2-3 to open the season.

Coming out of the bye they will be met with a tough game against Fresno State, at which point the season could be at a pretty dangerous juncture. After what could easily be a 2-4 start, the Cougars would have to win at least four of their last six games against Hawaii, San Diego State, Utah State, New Mexico, Oregon State, and Wyoming. It’s possible, but the path to six wins is a rocky one for Washington State this year. Wazzu should end up between 3-9 and 8-4.

Oregon State

Oregon State is in slightly better shape and gets a slightly better draw. Like most of the Mountain West teams, the Beavers will be led by a first-year head coach in Trent Brady, who has been coaching defense within the program in some capacity since 2018. He was previously the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.

The schedule for the Beavers is broken up into three four-game pods broken up by bye weeks. Their first set includes Idaho State, San Diego State, Oregon, and Purdue. Oregon State should take care of the Mountain West portion of that schedule but will have a harder time against the Big Ten portion.

After a bye, Oregon State will face Colorado State, Nevada, UNLV, and Cal. The Nevada schools stand out in this section of the schedule. The toughest team in this stretch is UNLV while the Wolf Pack will be in a rebuild.

The final stretch starts with a game against another rebuilding team in San Jose State. Then the Beavers play at Air Force and host Washington State. Then the Beavers close their season on the road against Boise State. The Broncos won’t go down easy, but if the Beavers can survive against Air Force, the Beavers should best the Cougars, and a winning season should be in play even if they drop their season finale. Oregon State could land anywhere from 3-9 (though that seems like it would be a long shot) and 9-3. A record closer to 7-5 seems more reasonable.

Air Force Falcons

Air Force is Air Force, and that’s just about all there is to it. Troy Calhoun, the longest-tenured coach in the Mountain West by a large margin, has amassed a record of 130-82. In his 18 years, his Falcons have only missed a bowl game five times. In the 13 bowl games they have gone to, they are 8-5. That’s probably indicative of what’s to come.

The Falcons have plenty of holes to fill with a slew of departures headlined by quarterback Zac Larrier, but in Colorado Springs, it’s just rinse and repeat. The Falcons are coming off three consecutive bowl games and have won ten, ten, and nine games in the past three seasons. So, even with the substantial losses to the roster, anyone who has been watching Air Force for the past decade knows better than to count them out.

The Falcons open conference play early and will host San Jose State in week two. Their week three matchup on the road against Baylor should be interesting. After that, they get a bye week and proceed with a pretty standard Air Force schedule with games against the rest of the Mountain West, Navy, and Army. They avoid Boise State, but travel to Laramie and host the Bulldogs. Air Force could go 4-8 on the low end or 9-3 on the high end.

Boise State Broncos

As much as the other 11 teams — and their fan bases — hate to admit it, Mountain West football runs through Boise. This year looks like it won’t be different.

Much could be said about the dramatics of last season and the unlikely rise of an untested coach in Spencer Danielson, but none of that would discredit what is happening at Boise State. In fact, much could be said of the entire program, but not much discourse is necessary to sum up what the Broncos have. That’s all because of one Ashton Jeanty.

Jeanty is, without question, one of the most impressive ball carriers in the nation. He’s the best running back in the conference and one of the most dangerous offensive players. In a lackluster program, he can single handedly make up for deficiencies around him, be it insufficient help on offense or poor coaching. In a competent program, he can elevate the team from good to great and from great to titanic. The Broncos could have done anything this offseason and it wouldn’t matter one bit. As long as Jeanty is in a Bronco uniform, Boise State will be a contender. Boise State should expect to go between 9-3 and 11-1.

Colorado State Rams

Colorado State is going into year three of the Jay Norvell experiment and it hasn’t gone as well as the Rams would have hoped when they poached the offensive tactician from Nevada. All the Rams have really managed to do so far is sabotage their conference foe on the way to mediocrity (Nevada has gone 2-20 while Colorado State has gone 8-16 since then). The Rams hope that will change this season.

The Rams haven’t seen a bowl game since 2017, when they capped off a five-year run of bowl appearances, but got just about as close as possible last year. They got within a game of bowl eligibility last season and came up just short of adding that last win multiple times, including a 43-35 overtime loss at Colorado, a 25-23 loss at UNLV, a 24-15 loss at Wyoming, and a 27-24 loss at Hawaii.

As is standard with Norvell’s teams, the story here will be the offense. Norvell likes to throw the ball around and he has a team that should be able to pass to his liking. Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi showed flashes of being a really high-level quarterback last year and Tory Horton is one of the best wide receivers in the conference. Horton was All-Mountain First team last season and Fowler-Nicolosi earned an honorable mention. Horton was also named to the Preseason All-Conference team this year.

Overall, the Rams should be able to take a step forward this year. If everything clicks, Norvell, Fowler-Nicolosi, and Horton could create a solid, if not dangerous, offense. The defense, led by linebacker Chase Wilson, should at least be able to keep up.

An adept defense and a Jay Norvell offense would certainly do the trick in Fort Collins, but only time will tell if the Rams will hit those marks. Colorado State should finish within 4-8 and 8-4.

Can Air Force Keep Thriving with a Roster Overhaul?

Contact/Follow @Sean or @MWCWire

The last time we saw the Air Force Fightin’ Falcons in game action, they wore out the James Madison Dukes by a score of 31-21 in the Armed Forces Bowl, back in December. A lot has happened since then.

WHAT HAS HAPPENED

A quarter of last year’s starters on defense are presently on NFL rosters, Falcon Stadium has undertaken a spectacular renovation, more than 3,600 yards from last years offense graduated in the spring, along with the entire offensive line that was one of the best in the nation. And that is only covering the changes this team is experiencing at a very high level. So you get the picture, it’s a new season, and a very new team.

Noone is going to cry for Air Force though, nor should they. A very experienced coaching staff has excelled at developing players through their program that has navigated such changes with little to no turbulence. In fact, they tend to thrive in the given circumstances. If you want a detailed breakdown of the talent turnover and just how good of a coaching staff resides in Colorado Springs, Nittany Falcon wrote an excellent piece which you can find here.

WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT

Anytime you lose generational talents like Trey Taylor, Bo Richter and a deep experienced offensive line unit, a drop off is going to be expected. The schedule does not allow for a slow immersion for a team of majority new starters. After their week one FCS Opener against Merrimack, the rest of the schedule is relentless starting with their week two Conference opener against San Jose State. This is a Spartan team now led by someone very familiar with Air Force in long time Navy coach, Ken Niumatalolo.

After that, the Falcons head to Waco, Texas, where Baylor will be seeking retribution for the thumping Air Force handed them a two years ago at Bowl Season. This is their schedule in a microcosm, week to week matchups with familiar opponents, bitter rivals and of course the Beavers who for some reason are still in the Pac2. Or is it Tupac, because ‘Life Goes On’? Either, way, the 2024 schedule is quite interesting week to week.

For the second year in a row, Troy Calhoun and crew will be breaking in a new starting quarterback, who in all likelihood will be John Busha. Last year saw this team come blazing out of the gates behind Zach Larrier. But this years team doesn’t have the experience surrounding Busha that Larrier did. Namely an entire offensive line of All-Conference performers, basically. While Busha won’t be flanked by an entirely new backfield, they will have to replace 2,000 yards of rushing production from John Lee Eldridge III, Owen Burke and Emmanuel Michel.

This is what makes college football beautiful though. The year to year transition of players and roster composition are always there, and the best programs have learned to navigate it. Troy Calhoun and the Air Force Falcons certainly have managed it quite well. So don’t fret, there is plenty to be excited about. Where there may be critical player losses, new stars will emerge.

For starters, Steed Lobotzke is the King Midas of offensive line coaches. It seems like he is turning out gold at every turn with his players. And that is not by luck, there isn’t a better coach at the position in the country. The ball carriers behind the new offensive line are going to be fine as well. Dylan Carson was just a hair under 500 yards for the season last year, averaging over seven yards per carry, while splitting carries with two other fullbacks.

Defensively, it’s easy to focus on massive losses by volume and talent as mentioned earlier. But returning are two of the best players in the conference at their positions in Payton Zdroik and Camby Goff. Many are quick to forget, Camby Goff was an All-Conference player before a week one injury ended his season last year.  This is a guy who played as a freshman and is a three-year starter bouncing between the secondary and that hybrid spur position. Sticking with the secondary, it is the one area that the Falcons return plenty of game experience. Zdroik down in the trenches is an absolute game wrecker and will help settle a lot of new pieces in the front seven.

The most experienced unit at Air Force has to be special teams. They return all of their starters from last season and are two deep with experience at kicker and punter. With a Lou Groza Watch List kicker in Matthew Dapore.  They may have to break in a new kick and punt returner to confidently put their hand in the air to signal a fair catch though.

nice to see

One of the things that I am most excited about has to be the surfacing of prominent recruits from recruiting classes of the past rearing on the roster. Full disclosure, we all know the roster which Air Force shares isn’t necessarily an indication of who you are going to see on the field. But a lot of the underclassmen, and those who went to the prep school sort of vanish from sight for a year or two to either never be seen again or in some cases surface as playmakers.

Here are some the guys for those who have been following the Falcon recruiting classes the past few years should be excited about as newcomers to the roster, or prime to take a leap in contributions.

OFFENSE

Alec Falk (OL), Tre Roberson (WR), Kade Frew (RB), Kaden Cloud (RB), Henry Rickels (OL), Bruin Fleischmann (TE) and converted quarterback Kemper Hodges (FB).

DEFENSE

Houston Hendrix (DB/LB), Kyle Chen, Lincoln Tuioti-Mariner (DB), Dallas Daley (LB), Blake Fletcher (LB), Luke Meyer (LB), Jack Curtis (DE), Zach Juckel (LB) and Hiroshi Carr (DB).

UP NEXT

Next week we will have our first season preview for Air Force as they prepare to take on Merrimack for their opener. While your waiting for the Falcons to kick off the season, take in some of the week zero offerings as New Mexico, Nevada and Hawai’i all play this week!

2023 Records: Nevada (20-10) SMU (7-3)

Spread SMU -25 Over/Under 57 points

The 2024 college football season kicks off on Saturday with a light Week 0 schedule.

It features a key non-conference matchup between the 24th-ranked SMU Mustangs and the Nevada Wolf Pack in Reno, Nevada.

SMU, now part of the Atlantic Coast Conference after an 11-3 season in 2023, is heavily favored to win, with the odds set at 24.5 points.

The game marks the debut of Nevada’s new head coach, Jeff Choate, as the Wolf Pack seeks to improve on their disappointing 2-10 record from last year.

Former WAC rivals SMU and Nevada are set to meet in SMU’s first game as a member of the ACC.

The teams last faced off on Christmas Eve in 2009 when SMU dominated with a 45-10 victory over Nevada.

The betting line currently favors SMU at -25, with the potential for a further increase before kickoff.

Initially opening at -19.5 in May, the spread has steadily grown. Likewise, the total has risen from 53.5 to 57.

It is one talk about a baptism of fire with powerful SMU coming to play the Wolfpack at Mackay Stadium in Reno, NV.

Set to start at 8 pm ET at Mackay Stadium, this matchup revives an old rivalry tied at 3-3, with SMU winning the last two encounters.

However, in previous years, Nevada has won both home games against SMU at Mackay Stadium.

The last meeting was in the 2009 Hawaii Bowl, where SMU dominated with future NFL stars Cole Beasley and Emmanuel Sanders.

SMU returns with a strong lineup, including junior quarterback Preston Stone, who had an impressive 2023 season with 3,197 passing yards and 28 touchdowns.

The Mustangs bring back key offensive players, contributing to last season’s average of 38.7 points per game.

SMU scored eighth in FBS last year with 38.7 points per game and is poised for success as it transitions to the ACC.

The Mustangs returned three All-AAC First-Team offensive players. They bolstered their defense with DB Isaiah Nwokobia, who led in interceptions last year, and pass rusher Elijah Roberts, who was second in sacks.

According to Marshall, with solid performances expected on offense and defense, Bruce Marshall (TGS) predicts the Mustangs will secure a four-touchdown win and comfortably cover the spread as big favorites.

Nevada’s quarterback, Brendon Lewis, also returns after a solid but challenging 2023 season, where he passed for 1,313 yards and rushed for 495 more.

SMU Mustangs:

  1. Preston Stone (QB): The junior quarterback is coming off a strong 2023 season with 3,197 passing yards and 28 touchdowns. Stone is expected to lead SMU’s high-powered offense, which is crucial to their success in their first ACC game.
  2. Jaylon Knighton (RB): Knighton rushed for 745 yards last year and is a crucial part of SMU’s balanced offensive attack. His ability to gain yards on the ground will keep Nevada’s defense on its heels.
  3. Isaiah Nwokobia (DB): Nwokobia led the American Athletic Conference in interceptions last season and will be a crucial figure in SMU’s secondary. His playmaking ability can shift momentum and create opportunities for the Mustangs.
  4. Elijah Roberts (DL): Second in the AAC in sacks last year, Roberts will be looking to disrupt Nevada’s offense and put pressure on quarterback Brendon Lewis. His pass-rushing skills are crucial for SMU’s defensive success.

Nevada Wolf Pack:

  1. Brendon Lewis (QB): Returning as Nevada’s starting quarterback, Lewis had 1,313 passing yards and 495 rushing yards last season. His dual-threat capability makes him a key player for Nevada, especially against a strong SMU defense.
  2. Sean Dollars (RB): Dollars rushed for 527 yards and six touchdowns last year. He’ll be central to Nevada’s offense in the running game and as a potential target out of the backfield.
  3. Jaden Smith (WR): One of the new additions to Nevada’s receiving corps, Smith is expected to impact the offense significantly. His performance could be crucial for Nevada’s ability to keep pace with SMU.
  4. Cortez Braham (WR): Another newcomer to the Wolf Pack’s offense, Braham is set to play a key role as a wide receiver. His contributions will be significant as Nevada looks to improve on last season’s struggles in the passing game.

These players will likely be the difference-makers in this Week 0 showdown.

Despite the odds, Choate’s team aims to make a strong start, knowing the high stakes in his first game as head coach.

The game will be broadcast on CBS Sports Network, and radio coverage will be available on 105.7 FM in Northern Nevada.

As both teams face their earliest season opener in history, this matchup promises to set the tone for the challenges ahead.

For Nevada, if you’re a half-glass-full type of person, you get to play on national TV audience at home, playing a formidable opponent and seeing how you match up.

NFC Contenders

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers will be desperate to launch another title challenge this season, but they have a massive issue.

Efficient wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk requested a trade and has refused to train until he is allowed to move. Several teams have shown interest in his services, but he remains in San Francisco.

Apart from Aiyuk, the roster is largely intact, with star quarterback and MVP finalist Brock Purdy leading their charge. The 49ers have a solid mix of established stars and emerging talents, so keeping their core healthy and motivated will be key.

Aiyuk’s situation is a needless distraction, but the 49ers should appease him. He is a young player who could improve and enjoys a terrific understanding with Purdy.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles’ performances nosedived last year, culminating in a disappointing play-off exit. However, they still have one of the most talented rosters in the league.

Head coach Nick Sirianni’s decision to relinquish control of the offense to Kellen Moore could be a wise move. The Eagles are keen on bouncing back and Moore will be crucial to their hopes.

They still need to refresh their team and have sent scouts to Ireland, a country with a growing appetite for American football, to find new talents.

While the NFL might not have the same deep-rooted history as Gaelic Football, the sport is rapidly gaining traction. This increasing popularity has naturally led to a surge in NFL betting in Ireland.

Sports betting sites in Ireland have responded to this trend by offering a wide range of betting options on NFL games. Irish gridiron fans will be backing the Eagles to achieve Super Bowl success if the 2018 champions sign players from the Emerald Isle.

Detroit Lions

After their heartbreak in the NFC Championship last year, the Detroit Lions have quickly identified their weakness and addressed them in a massive roster reshuffle.

The Lions are serious about challenging for the Super Bowl and have moved with urgency. Head coach Dan Campbell will hope he can put a fire in the belly of the newcomers.

The fans have endured a long wait for a Super Bowl, and the team’s ability to build on last season’s success will determine whether they can finally end the drought.

AFC Contenders

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming to become the first team to win three Super Bowl titles on the spin. Everything looks possible with Patrick Mahomes at quarterback.

They have reinforced their squad with first-round pick Xavier Worthy and free agent Marquise Brown, plugging one of the niggling issues in the team. Despite losing cornerback L’Jarius Sneed, their defence remains formidable.

They were underwhelming during the regular season last term. However, they showed the resilience of champions, picking themselves up to clinch the title at the expense of the 49ers.

With Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce leading the charge to glory, the Chiefs are worthy favourites to make history at Super Bowl LIX.

Baltimore Ravens

Two-time champions Baltimore Ravens also carry Super Bowl aspirations, but it will not be a cakewalk.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to play a vital role, but the departure of defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald and crucial free agent losses could hurt their defence.

However, John Harbough is an adaptable coach who can forge a strong team with bare bones. With Jackson’s playmaking ability, they are a team to watch closely.

If their defence can hold the fort and Jackson stays healthy, Baltimore could make another deep play-off run.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills have some massive boots to fill on both sides of the ball if they want to challenge for the Super Bowl after losing Stefon Diggs, Gabe Davis, Jordan Poyer, Micah Hyde and Tre’Davious White.

There will be more work on quarterback Josh Allen’s plate this season. The former Wyoming Cowboys star is a perennial MVP candidate and one of the best in his position.

The Mountain West state representative must find a way to carry the team into the play-offs without his partner in crime, Diggs.

They still have some exciting veteran talents on their books that could aid their cause, but they need to bring in more quality to compete with the best in class.

Introduction:

In an era where digital communication is paramount, ensuring the security of email systems has become crucial for businesses and individuals alike. As cyber threats evolve, so do the strategies to combat them. One of the most effective tools for safeguarding email domains is DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance). This article explores how DMARC enhances email security, its operational mechanics, and the advantages it offers in protecting your domain from malicious activities.

Email remains a primary communication channel, but its widespread use also makes it a prime target for cybercriminals. Phishing, spoofing, and domain impersonation are common tactics employed by attackers to exploit vulnerabilities in email systems. As these threats become increasingly sophisticated, relying solely on traditional security measures is no longer sufficient. DMARC addresses these challenges by providing a robust framework for email authentication and reporting. Understanding DMARC’s role and implementation can significantly bolster your domain’s email security and enhance overall trust in your digital communications.

Understanding DMARC: A Comprehensive Overview:

“DMARC, or Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance, is an email authentication protocol designed to improve the security of email communications. It builds upon two existing protocols—SPF (Sender Policy Framework) and DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)—to provide a more comprehensive solution for preventing email spoofing and phishing. DMARC allows domain owners to publish policies that specify how email receivers should handle messages that fail authentication checks. By implementing DMARC, organizations can instruct email servers to reject or quarantine emails that do not align with their authentication policies, thereby reducing the likelihood of successful phishing attacks.” – Leo Baker, Chief Technology Officer at Vendorland

The protocol also includes a reporting feature that provides valuable insights into email authentication results. This reporting mechanism helps domain owners monitor and analyze email traffic to detect and address potential security issues. With DMARC, organizations can receive reports on the authentication status of their emails, enabling them to identify any unauthorized use of their domain and take appropriate action. This visibility into email traffic and authentication performance is crucial for maintaining the integrity of your domain and protecting against evolving threats.

The Benefits of Implementing DMARC:

One of the primary benefits of implementing DMARC is the enhanced protection it offers against phishing attacks and email spoofing. By enforcing DMARC policies, organizations can prevent unauthorized parties from sending emails that appear to come from their domain. This is particularly important for maintaining brand reputation and ensuring that recipients trust the authenticity of communications. DMARC helps to safeguard sensitive information and reduce the risk of data breaches resulting from fraudulent email activities.

Additionally, DMARC contributes to improved email deliverability. When emails pass DMARC authentication checks, they are more likely to reach recipients’ inboxes rather than being marked as spam or rejected. This ensures that legitimate communications are delivered successfully, enhancing overall communication efficiency. By aligning DMARC policies with SPF and DKIM, organizations can create a robust email authentication framework that improves both security and deliverability, ultimately fostering trust in their email communications.

How DMARC Works: An In-Depth Look:

“DMARC operates by leveraging SPF and DKIM to validate email messages. SPF allows domain owners to specify which IP addresses are authorized to send emails on behalf of their domain. DKIM, on the other hand, involves signing email messages with a digital signature that can be verified by the recipient’s email server. DMARC combines these authentication methods and adds an additional layer of policy enforcement.

When an email is received, the recipient’s email server performs SPF and DKIM checks to verify the authenticity of the message. If the message passes these checks, DMARC evaluates the results according to the domain owner’s published DMARC policy. The policy dictates how the email should be handled if it fails authentication—whether it should be rejected, quarantined, or allowed through. This comprehensive approach ensures that only authenticated and legitimate emails are accepted, reducing the risk of email-based attacks and improving overall security.” – Tatevik Iskajyan, SEO Specialist at Power DMARC

Challenges and Considerations in DMARC Implementation:

While DMARC offers significant security benefits, its implementation can pose challenges. One of the main considerations is the need for accurate and comprehensive SPF and DKIM configurations. Ensuring that all authorized sending sources are included in the SPF record and that DKIM signatures are correctly applied is crucial for effective DMARC enforcement. Misconfigurations or incomplete records can lead to legitimate emails being incorrectly flagged as suspicious.

Another challenge is the ongoing management and monitoring of DMARC reports. Although DMARC provides valuable insights into email authentication results, interpreting and acting upon these reports can be complex. Organizations need to have processes in place for analyzing DMARC reports, identifying potential issues, and making necessary adjustments to their authentication policies. Additionally, coordination with email service providers and third-party vendors may be required to ensure that all email sources are covered by DMARC policies.

The Future of Email Security with DMARC:

“As email security threats continue to evolve, DMARC is likely to play an increasingly important role in protecting domains from malicious activities. The adoption of DMARC is expected to grow, with more organizations recognizing its value in enhancing email security and maintaining trust in their digital communications. Future developments in DMARC technology may include improvements in reporting capabilities, better integration with other security protocols, and enhanced support for emerging email authentication standards.” – Tal Holtzer, CEO of VPS Server

To stay ahead of evolving threats, organizations should continuously assess and update their DMARC implementations. This includes regularly reviewing and refining authentication policies, staying informed about new security trends, and leveraging advancements in email security technologies. By proactively managing DMARC and other email authentication measures, organizations can ensure that their email communications remain secure and reliable in an increasingly complex digital landscape.

Conclusion:

In summary, DMARC is a powerful tool for enhancing email security and protecting your domain from email-based threats. By implementing DMARC, organizations can benefit from improved protection against phishing and spoofing, better email deliverability, and valuable insights into email authentication performance. While there are challenges associated with DMARC implementation, the benefits far outweigh the complexities, making it an essential component of a comprehensive email security strategy. As email security threats continue to evolve, DMARC will remain a crucial element in safeguarding digital communications and maintaining trust in the integrity of email interactions.

Your home is your sanctuary, a place where comfort and cleanliness should always reign supreme. Yet, despite regular cleaning efforts, carpets can often harbor dirt, dust, allergens, and even stains that are tough to remove. In a bustling city like Abu Dhabi, where dust from the desert and high foot traffic can quickly accumulate, keeping carpets fresh and pristine can seem like a challenge. This is where professional carpet cleaning services come in, offering a transformation for your home that regular cleaning simply cannot achieve.

Why Professional Carpet Cleaning Matters

Carpets are more than just floor coverings—they contribute significantly to the overall aesthetics and comfort of your home. However, they also tend to trap dirt, allergens, pet dander, and even bacteria deep within their fibers. This accumulation can lead to a variety of health issues, including respiratory problems, allergies, and skin irritations, especially for children and pets. Regular vacuuming helps, but it only removes surface dirt.

Professional carpet cleaning Abu Dhabi employ advanced techniques and equipment to thoroughly clean your carpets, reaching deep into the fibers to extract dirt and allergens that typical home cleaning methods miss. This not only improves the appearance of your carpets but also enhances the air quality in your home.

The Process: How Professional Carpet Cleaning Works

Professional carpet cleaners in Abu Dhabi utilize various methods depending on the type of carpet and the extent of dirt and staining. Some of the most common techniques include:

  1. Hot Water Extraction (Steam Cleaning): This method involves spraying heated water combined with a cleaning solution into the carpet, which loosens dirt and grime. The mixture is then extracted using a powerful vacuum, leaving your carpets fresh and sanitized.
  2. Dry Carpet Cleaning: Ideal for delicate or natural fiber carpets, dry carpet cleaning involves applying a special powder that absorbs dirt and is then vacuumed away. This method requires little to no drying time and is perfect for high-traffic areas.
  3. Carpet Shampooing: Shampooing involves using a carpet-specific detergent that is scrubbed into the carpet using a machine. After the solution has lifted the dirt, it is vacuumed out, leaving the carpet clean but requiring a longer drying time than other methods.
  4. Encapsulation: This modern technique uses synthetic detergents that crystallize into powder form when they dry, encapsulating dirt particles. The carpet is then vacuumed, and the dirt is removed along with the dried detergent.

The Benefits of Professional Carpet Cleaning

Investing in professional carpet cleaning services in Abu Dhabi offers a variety of benefits beyond just a visually clean carpet. Here are some key reasons why it’s worth considering:

  1. Prolonged Carpet Life

Carpets are a significant investment, and regular professional cleaning can extend their lifespan by removing deep-seated dirt and preventing wear and tear on the fibers. This helps you avoid the cost of premature replacement, allowing you to enjoy your carpets for years to come.

  1. Improved Health and Indoor Air Quality

Abu Dhabi’s hot, dusty climate can lead to carpets accumulating allergens and bacteria. Professional carpet cleaning eliminates these contaminants, leading to better indoor air quality and a healthier environment for your family.

  1. Enhanced Aesthetic Appeal

Nothing compares to the look and feel of a freshly cleaned carpet. Professional cleaning restores the carpet’s original color, texture, and softness, transforming the look of your entire home. Stubborn stains, whether from spilled drinks, pet accidents, or foot traffic, are effectively removed, leaving your carpets looking brand new.

  1. Time-Saving and Convenient

While DIY carpet cleaning can be time-consuming and labor-intensive, hiring professionals allows you to save time and energy. Carpet cleaning experts come equipped with the necessary tools and expertise to get the job done efficiently, allowing you to focus on other important tasks.

  1. Eco-Friendly Cleaning Options

Many carpet cleaning services in Abu Dhabi offer eco-friendly and non-toxic cleaning solutions that are safe for your family, pets, and the environment. These green cleaning methods effectively remove dirt and stains without leaving harmful residues behind.

Finding the Right Carpet Cleaning Service in Abu Dhabi

To fully transform your home, it’s essential to choose a reputable carpet cleaning service that provides high-quality results. Here are a few tips to help you find the best service in Abu Dhabi:

  • Research Reviews and Testimonials: Customer reviews and testimonials provide insight into the reliability and effectiveness of the service. Look for companies with a strong reputation for delivering excellent results and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience and Expertise: Choose a company with experience in handling different types of carpets, stains, and cleaning methods. A knowledgeable team will be able to assess your carpet’s needs and recommend the most suitable cleaning solution.
  • Certifications and Equipment: Ensure the company uses modern equipment and follows industry best practices for cleaning and sanitation. Certifications from organizations like the IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) indicate a commitment to professionalism.
  • Customer Service: Opt for a carpet cleaning service that values clear communication, offers flexible scheduling, and provides transparent pricing.

Conclusion: Transform Your Home Today

Professional carpet cleaning services in Abu Dhabi offer a convenient and effective way to restore the beauty and cleanliness of your home. Whether you’re dealing with everyday dirt and grime or tough stains that just won’t budge, a professional service can breathe new life into your carpets, making your entire living space feel refreshed and revitalized.

With improved air quality, extended carpet life, and a healthier environment, professional carpet cleaning is an investment that pays off in both the short and long term. So why wait? Transform your home today by choosing a reliable and experienced carpet cleaning service in Abu Dhabi, and enjoy the comfort of fresh, clean carpets once again.

In just 12 months, the landscape of college football has transformed so dramatically that it’s nearly unrecognizable. How would you like to be the average fan these days?

The College Football Playoff expanded from four to twelve teams, and the once-mighty power conferences have now condensed from five to four.

The 12 teams will be the five conference champions ranked by the CFP selection committee, plus the following seven highest-ranked teams.

The Big Ten could more accurately be called the Big Eighteen, the Big 12, the Big 16. Meanwhile, the SEC welcomed Texas and Oklahoma.

Even the ACC, amidst adding three new schools, is tangled in lawsuits from members looking to leave.

Yet, as the dust settles on this seismic shift, one conference remains a steadfast beacon of tradition: the Mountain West Conference.

While the rest of college football is caught up in a whirlwind of change, the Mountain West stands firm, its 12 teams and rivalries intact.

From a fan’s perspective, it’s excellent, as you can count on long-standing rivalries continuing, knowing your teams are the same in the conference.

In a sport where stability has become a rare commodity, the Mountain West offers a refreshing glimpse of continuity and tradition.

It may not attract the same level of media frenzy as the newly rebranded Power Four. Still, for those craving some consistency in college football, the Mountain West promises to be a compelling watch in 2024—not just for its quality football but also for its comforting familiarity.

In any sport steeped in over a century and a half of history, the Mountain West has quietly become a sanctuary of football heritage, unchanged since its last realignment in 2013.

There is no denying that this conference does not get the credit it deserves for its stability and the quality of teams, athletes, and coaches it has.

With the new leadership under Gloria Nevarez who took over as commissioner of the MW on January 1, 2023, following the retirement of founding commissioner Craig Thompson, the future looks bright.

The Mountain West introduces seven first-year head coaches this season, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the conference. Here are our MW football coach rankings for 2024.

  1. Nate Dreiling, Utah State: At 33, Dreiling is the youngest FBS head coach, stepping in as Utah State’s interim coach.

Previously, he was a defensive coordinator at New Mexico State. Still, he faced a challenging situation and needed a solid season to secure his position. Dreiling, at 33, is the youngest head coach in FBS this fall, taking over for Blake Anderson.

Despite lacking head coaching experience, he’s ready to tackle the challenges ahead.

Having personally seen former defensive coordinators at New Mexico step into head coaching roles, I know that following in the footsteps of successful coaches like Blake Anderson comes with a steep learning curve.

I saw his defense firsthand during the annual Rio Grande Rivalry between the Lobos from New Mexico and the Aggies from New Mexico State. I was very impressed with scheme, shutting down the Lobos offense in Las Cruces.

It was easy to see why former head coach Blake Anderson saw in his defense when he hired him in early January.

The fact is that not all successful offensive & defensive coordinators equate to being a head coach. So, time will tell the story of his hire.

  1. Tim Skipper, Fresno State: Skipper, Fresno State’s interim coach, has extensive experience, including stints as associate head coach and coordinator roles.

Jeff Tedford stepped down as head coach due to ongoing health problems, which prevented him from coaching the Bulldogs in their bowl game at the end of the 2023 season, hence this hire.

Skipper worked at Colorado State from 2012-14 as a linebackers coach under former coach Jim McElwain. With Fresno State’s robust Roster, an MW title game appearance might be necessary for him to secure the job.

Talk about the right place and time for the right team situations. Just hand me the keys and change only a little to an already successful program under Tedford.

It is hard not to like coaching at Fresno State; the Bulldogs in a great sports town in Fresno, California, have a rabid fan base and great athletes.

  1. Jay Sawvel, Wyoming: Sawvel steps up as Wyoming’s head coach after serving as defensive coordinator under Craig Bohl.

With a solid defensive background, he faces the challenge of maintaining Wyoming’s recent success in Cowboy Nation in Laramie.

The Cowboys are coming off their first nine-win season since 1996, including a win over Toledo in last year’s Arizona Bowl.

The Cowboys face a demanding schedule this fall, beginning with a road game against Big 12 newcomer Arizona State.

Two weeks later, they’ll host Brigham Young, possibly marking the Cougars’ final visit to War Memorial Stadium.

The regular season wraps up for UW on the road against Washington State in Pullman.

The Pokes are always a formidable opponent at home. I expect much to stay the same regarding Craig Bohl’s method of bringing physicality to teams in Laramie. Of course, there are many challenges ahead this season.

  1. Timmy Chang, Hawaii: Chang, a former record-breaking quarterback at Hawaii, is in his third year as head coach. Despite a challenging start, there’s been improvement.

This season will show if Hawaii can rise in the MW under his leadership. For the offense, they look to continue making strides in the run-and-shoot system, led by returning starters Brayden Schager and Pofele Ashlock.

“Every year you have the run and shoot, it becomes better; it’s just seeing little things that I see Pofele do that I can know what he’s doing before he does it; that’s when it starts to get good,” Brayden Schager said. “that’s when you can already see I’m anticipating what he’s doing, getting the ball out earlier.

Hawaii has been good at its offensive schemes; the key to their success will be stopping teams from scoring.

So, new defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman, with a ton of experience, will have his hands full developing his scheme to blend with a potentially excellent offensive lead by Quarterback Brayden Schager.

The Rainbows were blessed to get back Dan Morrison, his second stint with Hawaii. Keep in mind that he was the positions coach for Timmy Change and Colt Brennan (a legend on the Island in college passing game)

Watching this offense with Shager under his coaching tutelage should pay big dividends for Hawaii this year. Talk about a one-two punch on the offensive side of the ball

  1. Spencer Danielson, Boise State: In 2023, Danielson led Boise State to the MW title as interim coach. With limited experience outside Boise State, he faces elevated expectations this season.

Under Danielson’s direction, Boise State’s defense ranked sixth in the nation last season, while the scoring defense ranked 15th.

In his first season as defensive coordinator, the team’s scoring defense ranked 12th in the country, while its total defense ranked 45th.

Talk about a dream job at the Mountain West Conference, but with that comes big expectations this year. It should be an entertaining team to watch compete with so much talent on both sides of the ball.

  1. Sean Lewis, San Diego State: Lewis, formerly the head coach at Kent State and offensive coordinator at Colorado, brings a dynamic offense to San Diego State.

He’s well-positioned to make an impact with the Aztecs. His offense worked wonders for Deion Sanders at Colorado while he was the offensive coordinator, so look for the Aztecs to lean heavily on the offensive side of the ball.

Brady Hoke resigned after a disappointing 4–8 season, announcing the move after the team fell to 3–7 with a Week 11 loss to Colorado State.

The Aztecs have had a strong football program in recent years, making a bowl game in 12 of the past 14 seasons, but last year was their worst since 2010.

  1. Jeff Choate, Nevada: Choate, with a varied coaching background, including a successful stint at Montana State, takes on the challenging role at Nevada.

He’s known for building vital programs and will aim to do the same with the Wolf Pack. Nevada football rarely hires head coaches with prior experience, with only one of the last nine full-time head coaches, Chris Tormey, coming in with previous college head-coaching experience.

Tormey, hired from Idaho, posted a 16-31 record with the Wolf Pack from 2000-03. Choate, who left Washington to lead Montana State in 2016, had a successful tenure, going 4-7, 5-6, 8-5, and 11-4 over four seasons.

His time with the Bobcats included back-to-back FCS playoff appearances in 2018 and 2019, with a semifinal berth and a No. 4 ranking in his final season. He also went 4-0 against rival Montana in the annual “Brawl of the Wild,” marking Montana State’s first semifinal appearance since 1984.

This is, without a doubt, one of the most challenging jobs in the MWC, and this was a good hire on so many levels when one looks at Choate’s resume. It should be fun for the fans to watch how they compete this year.

  1. Ken Niumatalolo, San Jose State: Niumatalolo, the Navy’s former head coach, is proven but untested outside his unique system.

How he adapts at San Jose State will be closely watched. Ken Niumatalolo, the all-time winningest coach at the Naval Academy, Niumatalolo, who won a record 109 games at Navy, led the team to 10 bowl games.

Of course, he was hired after Arizona hired former head coach Brent Brennan to coach the Wildcats, hence the new hire.

This was a particularly good hire by San Jose State, with his proven winning record, his schemes he runs and head coaching experience.

  1. Jay Norvell, Colorado State: An offensive-minded coach with a strong recruiting record, Norvell is rebuilding Colorado State.

His talent for developing players is undeniable, but a championship push is still needed. Norvell, who led the Nevada Wolf Pack to four bowl games in five seasons (2017-21), brought his offensive expertise to Fort Collins.

While he turned Nevada into a conference title contender, Ram fans are eager for a breakout year in their new $220 million stadium built in 2017.

There is no denying that there is now pressure to win games in Ram nation and frankly it comes with this head coaching job there in Fort Collins.

  1. Barry Odom, UNLV: Odom led UNLV to its best season in program history in 2023. His success at UNLV and previous experience in the SEC make him a strong contender in the MW.

UNLV Head Football Coach Barry Odom discussed how his team is using their second-place preseason ranking as motivation during Mountain West Football Media Days

“Every week is crucial,” Odom said. “We’re in the spotlight with five Friday night games, and 11 of our 12 regular season games are on national television—something that’s never happened before at UNLV. We’re also focused on the fact that UNLV has never made back-to-back bowl games.”

“I didn’t finish strong as a head coach—we lost the championship game and the bowl game, so lessons were learned,” Odom said. “We’re a much better football team than we were at any point last year. We have meaningful competition in many areas, and we’ll see how that unfolds throughout the year.”

You mention a program that is poised for a breakout after a great year: the Running Rebels of UNLV. Yes, they didn’t finish well last year but you saw what this staff can do with the right talent, scheme and support from the local fan base.

  1. Bronco Mendenhall, New Mexico: Mendenhall comes into the MWC as one of the most accomplished coaches in the MW, having successfully coached at BYU and Virginia.

His 135 wins make him the winningest head coach in the current MWC of active head coaches. He faces a challenging task in New Mexico but has a strong track record of improving programs.

There is no denying that he has 17 years as a head coach at both BYU & Virginia and 16 bowl appearances, Bronco is proven winner, bottom line.

Before coaching at Virginia, Mendenhall had a 99-43 record at BYU, with no losing seasons in 11 years. He also served as an assistant at New Mexico from 1998-2002. Known for maximizing talent in challenging situations, Mendenhall is expected to be a strong fit in Albuquerque.

AD Eddie Nunez’s decision to hire Mendenhall after Danny Gonzales’s departure is poised to pay off in the long run.

Gonzales was immensely popular with the local fanbase of Lobo supporters but equally popular because his affiliation with former head coach Rocky Long is Bronco Mendenhall.

So here you have Danny Gonzales, who was Urlacher’s roommate in college while at UNM, but it was Mendenhall who coached him as the then DC for the Lobos.

Coming from the Rocky Long coaching tree, Mendenhall’s old-school philosophy of “Earned, not Given” stands in contrast to today’s more immediate, results-driven culture among players.

The conference is undergoing significant rebuilding, and the Lobos are no exception. Despite over 60 roster changes, Mendenhall is confident he can lead the Lobos to a bowl game, as he has done in 16 of his 17 coaching years.

“The longest it’s taken to reach the postseason in my previous jobs is year two,” Mendenhall said. “I like our team’s grit and resolve.”

Known as a great motivator, Mendenhall acknowledges the landscape has changed since his time in Virginia.

He notes after a three-year coaching break, “Roster and financial management now consume more of my time than ever before. It’s a different game.”

  1. Troy Calhoun, Air Force: Calhoun is the longest-tenured MW coach with a consistent record of success at Air Force.

With 13 bowl appearances and five 10-win seasons, the only thing missing is a MW title. Without question the best coach at the Mountain West Conference.

The Falcons are heading into the new season with just five returning starters from last year’s squad, which went 9-4 and 5-3 in Mountain West Play and capped off the season with a win over James Madison in the Armed Forces Bowl.

Head coach Troy Calhoun admits he has never faced such a significant roster turnover in his career, but he and his team stay focused and optimistic.

This is what every NCAA college football team is now dealing with with NILS and the current transfer portal situation in college sports.

“It’s a process,” Calhoun said. “It’s going to take some time, but we got the guys with a lot of heart. Some say we are rebuilding, but really, it’s a reload; we have young players with great talent.”

Air Force is solid every year and I do not expect that to change, even with this year’s rosters of new talent and new cadets.

All the Air Force Falcons do, is win every year no matter who is playing, its the Falcons mantra, prove how good they are year in and year out.

CFB25: The Mountain West Conference

According to EA Sports College Football 25, Nevada and Boise State will play for the Mountain West Conference Championship.

Contact/Follow @Sean or @MWCWire

Just three empty Saturday’s stand between us and Week Zero’s slate of games to kick off the NCAA Football season! I know, I know, it’s been a long off-season and we are all yearning for some game action. Well, there is some good news.

Two weeks ago, EA Sports finally released the College Football 25 video game after a decade long absence for their signature franchise series. To say this has been a much-anticipated return would be a colossal understatement. EA Sports sold over 2 million copies of their premium edition, which granted gamers access three days in advance of it’s announced July 19th standard release date.

As a long time enthusiast of this games series, I was one of the 2 million who secured early access. While there is no replacing a Saturday (or the myriad of other days that games are now played on) of Mountain West action, CFB25 provides a nice bridge to the official start of the 2024 season.

Recognizing that not every college football fan has, or will purchase the CFB25 game, we want to share some of the fun with everyone. So here is what we’ve done.

WE’VE SIMULATED THE 2024 SEASON

IMG_0902.jpg

Using the Dynasty feature on the CFB25 game, we’ve simulated the entire 2024 football season. In case you’re wondering, Jacksonville State did make the playoff in our simulation as the lone representative from the Group of Five. As if being snubbed from the playoff wasn’t bad enough, the MWC fans aren’t going to be happy to learn that BYU didn’t just make the college football playoff but earned a bye week as well.

So sure, the introduction of the new 12-Team College Football Playoff is exciting, but we’re here for the Mountain West Action! Even though no Mountain West Conference team made the playoff in our simulation, there were plenty of interesting yields from the season.

HOW THE (MOUNTAIN) WEST WAS WON

IMG_0903.jpg

Probably not surprising to many, the Boise State Broncos were your Mountain West Conference Champions. Who did they have to defeat to win the championship? Nevada. That’s right, the Nevada Wolf Pack weren’t just Bowl eligible, but were nearly crowned Conference Champs in our simulation.

Joining Boise State and Nevada in Bowl eligibility were Air Force, Fresno State, San Diego State, New Mexico and Hawai’i.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

One of the first things that stood out was the New Mexico Lobos surrendered the fewest points defensively. One of the reasons for the strong defensive showing was their defensive end, Gabriel Lopez who recorded 15.5 sacks on the year. Lopez was third in voting for the Nations Best Defensive End award. It didn’t hurt that Tavian Combs was tied for the Conference lead in interceptions too.

The All-Conference First Team was littered with Broncos, as seven players from Boise State earned spots. Brayden Schager represented Hawai’i well, as he was the recognized as the top quarterback in the Conference. Somewhat shocking, Ashton Jeanty was not the first team running back, nor was Tory Horton an All-Conference nominee at all. However, Jeanty was on the second team, while Horton actually sustained a season ending injury on the simulation. Injury is the only thing that could keep that guy from snagging passes.

It was also interesting to see that three Mountain West quarterbacks threw for 30 or more touchdowns. Malachi Nelson (38), Brayden Schager (32), Devon Dampier (31) and Spencer Petras (30) all cleared 30 tudd’s and 3,000 yards on the year! And not surprising at all, Air Force’s Dylan Carson led the Conference in Rushing yards. Video game or not, get acquainted with that name.

SNUBBED

It was a lot of fun running this simulation and seeing how some of our favorite teams and players fared. But the level of disrespect for the Mountain West was undeniable. No teams in the playoff. Noone ranked in the top 25. And there wasn’t a single player from the Conference recognized as a consensus All-American.

Coaches across the Mountain West may want to print this and hang it up as motivation for the season. Our EA Sports College Football 25 season may have slept on the Mountain West, but we know better. We just can’t wait for the actual season to kick off and do the fact checks!
