NCAA to bring new NIL program to bring transparency in the sport

In an attempt to create more transparency in the NIL space, the NCAA is launching the NIL Assist program

NIL has been a polarizing topic across college sports, with players now being paid through their name image and likeness, and more in particularly, NIL collectives around the universities. With these new changes, there have been a lot of debates and uneasiness around the way collectives are run and operate.

With these changes, and in attempt for transparency or any semblance of legislation, the NCAA is unveiling the NIL Assist platform.

The idea is to bring more transparency to NIL, but plenty in the collective space have apprehensions about its purpose.

Michigan State men’s soccer to be featured on BTN three times in 2024

MSU will be on BTN three times this fall:

The Big Ten Network has been slowly releasing their TV schedule for the upcoming fall season. The latest sport to release their TV schedule this fall is the MSU men’s soccer program. In 2024, the Spartans will be looking to make their first NCAA Tournament since 2018, where they made the College Cup.

In their quest to return to glory, MSU will be featured on BTN three times: Oct. 1 against Northwestern, Oct. 22 against Michigan and Oct. 29 against Ohio State.

Shay Colley excels, Canada loses in Olympic opener

Shay Colley had a strong effort in Canada’s Olympics opener, despite a loss to France

Former Michigan State women’s basketball guard Shay Colley is competing in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Colley, a professional basketball player in France, is competing for Canada in the games.

In Canada’s opener against the hosts France, the Canadians lost 75-54, but Colley gave a strong effort.

The former Spartan racked up a team high in points and assists, finishing with 11 points and 6 assists in the contest.

Michigan State field hockey to be featured on Big Ten Network

MSU field hockey will be featured on Big Ten Network this season

The Big Ten Network has released their TV schedule in which they will be featuring field hockey games. BTN has announced that they will be airing seven games featuring the nine participating schools in the conference.

Michigan State fans can watch their field hockey team on BTN on Mon., Sept. 23 at 3 p.m. ET. The Spartans will face Michigan in East Lansing.

MSU releases 2024 cross country schedule:

Michigan State has announced the release of the men’s and women’s 2024 cross country schedule. It has officially been a decade since the Spartans took home the women’s national championship in 2014, a ceiling that the Spartans would love to reach again.

Michigan State has a couple of former runners in the 2024 Olympic Games, and now fans can check out the next crop of Spartan athletes.

With golf at the Olympics taking place this week, and the FedEx playoffs set to begin, the PGA Tour season is coming to a close. Michigan State alum Ryan Brehm, a one-time PGA Tour winner, enjoyed another season competing on golf’s biggest stage.

In 2024, Brehm played in 20 events, finishing in the top ten once and two top 25 finishes, making over $500,000 in earnings.

Michigan State gymnastics releases 2025 schedule

Michigan State gymnastics had the best season in program history in 2023-24, when they made it all the way to the NCAA championships after winning the program’s first Big Ten Championship.

Michigan State tennis lands blue chip recruit

MSU landed a blue chip prospect on the trail

Michigan State’s tennis program has seen a major surge in recent years, and it looks like there is going to be more to come. The Spartans landed a huge win on the recruiting trail on Tuesday.

A former North Carolina commit, blue chip prospect Matt Forbes has made the decision to commit to Michigan State. A major recruiting win for head coach Harry Jadun.

After decommitting from North Carolina, blue-chip recruit Matt Forbes (UTR 12.64 / #6 in class of 2024 / #2 in NC @TennisRecNet) has signed with @MSU_MTennis following a @RedRobinBurgers dinner with head coach @HarryJadun. Michigan State a top university according to Forbes

See where MSU ranks in Forbes top 500 list, ranking US colleges:

The popular news outlet Forbes has published their latest Top 500 list, ranking colleges in the United States. In a list compiled by College Basketball Report, fans got a glimpse at where Michigan State landed.

Michigan State was ranked as the No. 23 overall school in the United States, and falls as the No. 11 school in the Big Ten.

Michigan State and Nike extend contract through 2027

Michigan State and Nike have extended their contract for another three years

Michigan State’s uniforms have been known to sport the Nike swoosh, with the company having a relationship with the university. That relationship is set to continue for at least three more years.

The new contract, courtesy of Stephen Brooks of 247Sports, the new deal going through 2027, states that Nike will pay Michigan State a base of $700,000 per year.

Michigan State Athletics extended its contract with Nike through 2027, per the latest contract (via FOIA). The previous deal ran through the 2023-24 year.

Nike pays MSU $550,000 for 23-24 and $700,000 the next three years.
