Steelers vs. Bengals: How to watch, listen and stream Week 12

Here’s how to catch Steelers vs. Bengals Week 12.

The Cincinnati Bengals stare the worst start in franchise history in the face Sunday with the Pittsburgh Steelers in town.

Those Steelers have some problems of their own coming out of the fight with Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns, not to mention a wealth of injuries.

But it still hardly compares given the struggles of these 0-10 Bengals. The home team still won’t have A.J. Green back and rookie quarterback Ryan Finley will get another start.

Here’s everything to know about viewing info for the matchup.

Ravens vs. Rams: Who’s playing and who isn’t

The Baltimore Ravens seem like they’ll be without defensive tackle Michael Pierce for Week 12 against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Baltimore Ravens get yet another tough test again this week as they’ll travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams in Week 12. Playing on Monday Night Football, this could be the chance for Baltimore to finally prove to the few remaining critics just how good they actually are. But the Ravens could be a little shorthanded this week.

Defensive tackle Michael Pierce is listed as doubtful and even that seems optimistic. Pierce missed Friday and Saturday’s practices after being listed as limited on Thursday. Coach John Harbaugh said Pierce is unlikely to play this week as he still recovers from an ankle injury suffered against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 10, according to Aaron Kasinitz of Penn Live.

While wide receiver Chris Moore, guard Ben Powers and tackle Ronnie Stanley are all listed as questionable, all three were full participants on Saturday meaning they’ll likely be able to play Monday night.

Take a look below for the full game statuses for both the Ravens and Rams in Week 12.

Baltimore Ravens game status:

DT Michael Pierce (ankle) – Doubtful
WR Chris Moore (thumb) – Questionable
G Ben Powers (thumb) – Questionable
T Ronnie Stanley (ankle) – Questionable

Los Angeles Rams game status:

T Rob Havenstein (knee) – Out
DB Darious Williams (ankle) – Out
LB Natrez Patrick (illness) – Questionable

Forget about Chase Young: QB is the Bengals’ only hope

Chase Young looks great. QB is more important for the Bengals.

As the Cincinnati Bengals drunkenly stumble their way towards the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 draft, the debate as to what Cincinnati should do with their top draft pick rages on.

The two viable options for the rebuilding Bengals are Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young or a quarterback. Taking Tua Tagavailoa’s recent season-ending hip injury into account, LSU’s Joe Burrow and Justin Herbert of Oregon look to be the top options at quarterback. In other words, there are legitimate quarterback options for the Bengals to choose from in 2020.

The Bengals are far from being a lock for the No. 1 pick in the draft, but for the sake of argument, let’s say that they end up with the worst record in the league and drafting first. Should they go with the sure thing, the defensive game-changer, the monster off the edge in Chase Young? Or should they roll the dice on someone like Joe Burrow in the hope that he becomes a franchise passer in the NFL?

[lawrence-related id=25017]

To set the scene somewhat, the Bengals have a desperate need at quarterback. Regardless of what side of the argument you find yourself on, most Bengals fans will agree that a new starter behind center is needed. The Andy Dalton era looks to be coming to a painful end, while Ryan Finley has been thoroughly unimpressive since entering the starting lineup.

As far as I’m concerned, if you don’t have a starting quarterback and you’re drafting high, you take a quarterback. If that pick doesn’t pan out and you find yourself drafting high again, you take another quarterback (à la Kyler Murray). And you keep doing it until you find the franchise quarterback that changes the fortunes of your entire organization. The quarterback position is that important.

Even if you assume that Chase Young is the best player in the draft and he turns out to be an elite talent at pass rusher, the quarterback is still the right selection. Chase Young doesn’t turn this franchise around. Chase Young doesn’t kickstart a new era for the Bengals. Chase Young won’t lead this team to a Super Bowl. A franchise quarterback can accomplish every one of those feats. This isn’t to say that pass rushers don’t have an enormous impact on the outcome of games. But the impact of an elite pass rusher pales in comparison to the monumental change that can be brought to an NFL franchise by bringing in a top-tier starting quarterback.

The Bengals cannot be forgiven if they pass on a quarterback in this year’s class who goes on to be an elite pro. In my eyes, they can be forgiven for selecting a quarterback who doesn’t pan out. It would be a tough pill to swallow, but I would applaud the team for taking a shot at finding a franchise quarterback.

[lawrence-related id=25001]

In 2017, the Browns found themselves in a very similar situation to the 2020 Bengals. Cleveland went with the 2017 version of Chase Young, Myles Garrett. Garrett has been a great player in the league, but I wonder if Browns fans might rather have Deshaun Watson or Pat Mahomes on their team.

That same year, the Bears botched the second pick by selecting Mitchell Trubisky. While this selection has proven to be made in error, they went with the player they believed to be the top quarterback in the class. Sure, Burrow could be Trubisky and Young could be Garrett, but the upside of a franchise quarterback is just too much to neglect. Hopefully, the Bengals can end up with their version of Watson or Mahomes, because the reward of this is easily worth the risk of ending up with someone like Trubisky.

There’s no ‘next year’ to draft a quarterback. Next year’s quarterback class is perpetually seen as being better than the current crop of passers. Firstly and most importantly, we have no idea when the Bengals will find themselves drafting this high again. Hopefully, they won’t find themselves as well-positioned to pull the trigger on a top quarterback prospect in years to come. Secondly, it’s far too early to emphatically declare that the 2021 class of quarterbacks is undoubtedly more talented than the 2020 group. Who knows how the 2021 class will be viewed once they play another season of football.

For struggling teams, the draft is not about adding the most talented player to your team, as crazy as that may sound. The draft, and in particular the Bengals’ 2020 draft, is about this: how do you take the biggest step towards competing in the league? The answer: you take the quarterback. Good teams with talented quarterbacks can go down the BPA (best player available) route, but struggling, quarterback-less franchises simply don’t have this luxury.

If Chase Young is the most talented player in the draft and he goes to Cincinnati, he can break the single-season sack record and it still won’t be enough for the Bengals to make a playoff run. If, however, the Bengals hit on a quarterback, this can offset so many of the issues with how poorly this organization is run. A star quarterback is perhaps the only acquisition that can accidentally turn these Bengals into contenders.

Darius Phillips on way back to join elite-looking Bengals return game

Darius Phillips will soon join Brandon Wilson on returns.

[jwplayer uqPHPsPf-ThvAeFxT]

The Cincinnati Bengals announced cornerback Darius Phillips has been cleared to practice.

This makes the star returner and cornerback the second to return from the Reserve/Injured list this year and starts a 21-day period where he can practice with the team before counting against the active roster. He’s eligible to join the roster next week.

Call it a case of the rich get richer.

Special teams is seemingly the only place the Bengals are rich this year. Brandon Wilson has been a breakout stud on kickoff returns, taking 14 for 490 yards (35.0 average) and a score so far.

The Bengals really appear to have something there with Wilson. But Phillips is just as promising — don’t forget he had a kickoff return for a score after coaches put him in for Alex Erickson, only for a flag to negate it.

Phillips is important to the base defense too, of course. He’s got starter upside, which will be important to see in live action this year with Darqueze Dennard headed to free agency again.

But Phillips adds some more sheer entertainment value to Bengals games alongside an electric breakout like Wilson. His return could help the team win some games too.

Titans TE Delanie Walker getting closer to return

The tight end says he’s “not sure” what the weekend will look like.

Tennessee Titans tight end Delanie Walker has been sidelined for the past three weeks with an ankle injury, but is getting closer to returning to the field.

He’s listed as doubtful on the team’s latest injury report for this week, so only time will tell if he’s in the starting lineup on Sunday.

The tight end says he’s “not sure” what the weekend will look like.

“Yeah, I would say maybe it would be better to be on the cautious side, yes,” Walker said of his recovery. “I am getting close. I am on the field and that is always a good thing when you can run. But I don’t want any setbacks so we’ll see what happens.”

[lawrence-related id=22861]

Walker noted in an interview with Titans Wire earlier in the month that he thought pass-catcher Jonnu Smith had done a solid job in his place.

Heading into Sunday’s game against Jacksonville, Smith has reeled in 22 receptions for 287 yards with one touchdown.

Smith recorded four receptions for 30 yards in the Titans’ most recent win, with his lone score of the year coming during Week 8’s 27-23 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Titans and Jaguars are set to kick off at 3:05 p.m. CT on Sunday in Nissan Stadium.

Titans TE Delanie Walker, OL Kevin Pamphile doubtful ahead of matchup vs. Jaguars

Here’s a look at the complete injury report for both teams.

The Tennessee Titans come off the bye week much healthier as a team overall, but could still be without key players on Sunday.

Tight end Delanie Walker (ankle) and offensive lineman Kevin Pamphile (knee).

Cornerback Chris Milton (ankle) and defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (shoulder) were listed as limited participants, while offensive lineman Rodger Saffold (knee) did not practice.

Linebacker Jayon Brown (groin) practiced in full capacity.

Report: Bengals have scouts at Ohio State-Penn State showdown

The Bengals will take in the Ohio State vs. Penn State game.

[jwplayer uqPHPsPf-ThvAeFxT]

As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals will have a presence at one of the biggest college football games of the year when the Ohio State Buckeyes host the Penn State Nittany Lions.

This after director of player personnel Duke Tobin was at Oregon’s recent game to watch quarterback Justin Herbert.

According to Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors, the Bengals are one of many teams sending reps to Saturday’s encounter between the eighth-ranked Nittany Lions and second-ranked Buckeyes. Lori Schmidt of News Radio 610 reported the same.

Those Buckeyes are loaded with NFL talent. Chase Young, the potential top overall pick, makes his big return to the field. Jeff Okudah is in contention to be the first cornerback off the board.

As for Penn State, wideout K.J. Hamler looks like a top option, as does pass-rusher Yetur Gross-Matos.

Keep in mind the long-term angle here too, with Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields working on his 2021 resume, for example.

Penn State and Ohio State kick off at noon on Fox.

Jaguars QB Nick Foles shaky on Week 11 return vs. Colts

It wasn’t long ago that many analysts drew a connection between the Tennessee Titans and quarterback Nick Foles.

It wasn’t long ago that many analysts drew a connection between the Tennessee Titans and quarterback Nick Foles.

Obviously, the Titans decided not to go for him and it was the Jaguars that paid the high price for the signal-caller.

Foles was injured at the beginning of the season, and made his return last week. The veteran looked rusty as the Jaguars offense failed to get anything going.

He was 33-of-47 passing for 296 yards with two touchdowns and one interception on the 33-13 loss.

[lawrence-related id=22843]

Head coach Doug Marrone made note of Foles’ subpar performance, but wants to see the team perform better as a whole.

“I don’t know. I think we all needed to play better, so it’s hard to judge that. He got hot early, then you’ve just got to take what the defense gives you after that. Then, I thought at the end he started to play really well. First game back is always difficult for anyone, it doesn’t matter whether it’s the quarterback, or any player on the field. So, we’re hoping to get everyone on offense to pick it up this week.”

Last season, Foles was 141-of-195 passing for 1,413 yards and seven touchdowns with four interceptions.

The Titans and Jaguars are set to kick off at 3:05 p.m. CT on Sunday in Nissan Stadium.

Draft heat check: Joe Burrow or Chase Young after Tua Tagovailoa injury?

What should the Bengals do after the Tua Tagovailoa injury?

[jwplayer uqPHPsPf-ThvAeFxT]

The injury to Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has dramatically altered the outlook of the 2020 NFL draft, where the Cincinnati Bengals remain on pace to hold the top overall pick.

Tagovailoa’s serious setback throws a question mark into the proceedings. The odds of his going No. 1 have plummeted.

Even in November, this leaves a team like the Bengals in a precarious position. If they pick first, should the nod go to LSU quarterback Joe Burrow or Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young?

The gut reaction might be to side with Burrow, the Athens, Ohio native who has blossomed into a must-have prospect over the course of a single season. So far, he’s completed 78.6 percent of his passes with 38 touchdowns and six interceptions.

Seems simple enough, but even given the importance of the position, Burrow isn’t besting Young in many places:

Young, even despite missing some time, has a silly 13.5 sacks this year over eight games. He’s perhaps the closest thing to unblockable the NFL draft has seen in years.

All sorts of potential ideas for the Bengals exist. Maybe they grab Young and a quarterback later in the draft. Maybe they take the top passer and add a rusher later, hoping the underperforming line this year is a fluke.

Scarcity has to enter the conversation. Most teams don’t get a chance to pick first. The odds the Bengals end up picking first again aren’t great. There’s a reason only three non-quarterbacks have come off the board first overall since 2009.

And yet, this feels like a debate that is just beginning. The Tagovailoa injury has changed things, yet a talent like Young continues to persist as a dominant factor.

After all the drama, Cordy Glenn is expected to start for Bengals again

Cordy Glenn will surprisingly return to the Bengals starting lineup.

[jwplayer uqPHPsPf-ThvAeFxT]

In a season full of unexpected results, Cordy Glen playing for the Cincinnati Bengals again might be the most shocking development of all.

It seemed like the Bengals would cut Glenn. Maybe trade him. Or worst-case scenario, let the storm blow over until the offseason and make the split happen then.

Now the team intends to have Glenn start at left tackle Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Some background. A report said Glenn and the team got into a dispute over the handling of his preseason concussion. He then reportedly got into an altercation with a coach and was fined $200,000. Zac Taylor called it an internal discipline matter. The Bengals then suspended Glenn for a game the very next day. He didn’t travel with the team to games after that.

And now…Taylor has been bumped to starting left tackle again.

“He has been good. It looks like he’s in good shape,” Taylor said, per Bengals.com. “He’s been dialed in and focused and understands the things that we want him to do. He’s had a good week of practice.”

It’s an incredibly odd situation. The rift between the team and player seemed impossible to fix until quarterback Ryan Finley got tossed around badly in a loss to Oakland last week. The Bengals want to get a proper evaluation on Finley before a high draft pick this offseason, but one has to wonder what sort of message that sends to a locker room that was clearly done with Glenn.

Either way, Glenn’s football conditioning seems to be where coaches want it and he’s expected to be out there Sunday. Call it the latest turn in a season littered with sharp ones.
