Jets’ Aaron Rodgers had eye-opening ‘energy’ comments post-Steelers loss

Jets’ Aaron Rodgers had eye-opening ‘energy’ comments post-Steelers loss

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers turned some heads (again) with a couple of his comments following his team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.

Rodgers mentioned how he felt like the Jets (2-5) were “flat” in terms of energy both before and during the 37-15 loss to the Steelers (5-2).

“I just felt like the energy, it starts with me, the energy for whatever reason at halftime was a little flat. I felt like it was flat before the game too,” Rodgers said. “We all got to do better.”

The circumstances of the situation in New York carry a lot of weight here.

The season is not over, but a win was needed… and the contest was a prime-time feature on “Sunday Night Football.” But energy was flat? That’s not a good sign for any NFL team.

While specifically not saying it, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich noted a lackluster effort in his post-game thoughts as well. Ulbrich pointed toward the later stage of the game above all else.

“That game, especially that second half, that’s not who this team is,” Ulbrich said via video conference. “That’s not good enough and that starts with me and the coaching staff and it goes down to every single player on this team. We can all give more and we will give more. We have what we need. That is not who we are.”

On top of needing a win and the prime-time factor, the Jets are fresh off trading for All-Pro receiver Davante Adams and firing head coach Robert Saleh. All these combined to make Rodgers’ thoughts alarming.

Rodgers’ full post-game breakdown can be found in the clip below:

Aaron Rodgers, turnovers, and terrible towels: Steelers top Jets, 37-15

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers was overwhelmed by both the Pittsburgh Steelers defense and the swirling terrible towels in the crowd in Week 7.

The Steelers made shreds of Rodgers and the Jets offense on “Sunday Night Football,” taking a 37-15 win

More excessive passing was the plan for Rodgers and newly acquired wide receiver Davante Adams. However, the Jets’ very predictable play calling was devoured by Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.

Sure, Rodgers had 276 passing yards but needed a whopping 39 attempts to do so.

After 39 pass attempts and yet another game with more interceptions than touchdowns, it’s time for fans to stop being delusional about Rodgers and hold him accountable. If not, Rodgers’ very toxic ideals will consume what’s left of team comradery, and the losing streak will continue.

Steelers troll Jets with ‘Sopranos’ post after 37-15 win

The Pittsburgh Steelers went “Sopranos” style with their social media following their win over the New York Jets.

The Steelers (5-2) took a 37-15 win over the Jets (2-5) on “Sunday Night Football in Week 7.

They went full mafia after the final whistle.

The Steelers edited a photo from the HBO show to take a jab.

Jets’ Garrett Wilson blunt after Steelers loss: ‘I’m playing like [expletive] right now’

Jets’ Garrett Wilson blunt after Steelers loss: ‘I’m playing like [expletive] right now’

New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson was very blunt following his team’s loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Wilson played a big role in the 37-15 loss and not in a positive way.

The Steelers notched an interception thanks to a drop from Wilson. A pass deflected off of him and ended up turning into six points for Pittsburgh.

Because of that, Wilson said the loss was on him.

“I’ve got to catch the damn ball. I’m playing like s— right now,” Wilson said. “I feel like that’s the reason we lost the damn game.”

New York trailed 16-15 when Wilson missed that ball. One play later after a long return from Steelers cornerback Beanie Bishop Jr., Pittsburgh put away another touchdown.

In a supportive manner, despite the play, quarterback Aaron Rodgers said he backed Wilson right after the mishap.

“I said I’m going to come back to you. He’s a dynamic player, we need to target him,” Rodgers said via video conference. “Obviously no one feels sicker than him about that play but he’s a dynamic player.”

Wilson ended up finishing the contest with five catches for 61 yards. That was overshadowed by the interception in the second half.

The New York Jets were burned both on and off the field in Week 7.

The Jets (2-5) lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2) in a 37-15 final. It was not a pretty showing as the scoreboard shows.

New York’s offense was particularly poor. Because of that, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers caught the brunt of the insults following the contest considering all the changes the team has made.

The New York Jets (2-5) were topped by the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-2), 37-15, in Week 7 on “Sunday Night Football.”

The loss stings considering all the recent changes the team has made. Interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich is still in search of his first win and All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams is, too.

Here is Jets Wire’s instant analysis of the Week 7 loss to the Steelers:

Scoring summary:

First quarter 11:33 Chris Boswell Made 46 Yard Field Goal (3-0 Steelers)

First quarter 2:27: Breece Hall 13 Yard Rush (7-3 Jets)

Second quarter 8:20: Chris Boswell Made 29 Yard Field Goal (7-6 Jets)

Second quarter 5:29: Tyler Conklin Pass From Aaron Rodgers for 1 Yard (15-6 Jets, two-point conversion)

Second quarter 0:27: George Pickens Pass From Russell Wilson for 11 Yards (15-13 Jets)

Third quarter 7:49: Chris Boswell Made 21 Yd Field Goal (16-15 Steelers)

Third quarter 7:15: Russell Wilson 1 Yard Rush (23-15 Steelers)

Fourth quarter 12:09: Van Jefferson Pass From Russell Wilson for 4 Yards (30-15 Steelers)

Fourth quarter 0:26: Najee Harris 10 Yd Run (37-15 Steelers)

In an otherwise poor game on offense, running back Breece Hall managed back-to-back big games. Hall notched a touchdown run of 13 yards to give his team a 7-3 lead early. In addition, Hall shined in the passing attack, leading the Jets with six catches for 103 yards.

The two interceptions quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw were extremely untimely.

Just before halftime, Rodgers tossed one when he was forcing a pass down the middle of the field. Right after, Pittsburgh managed a touchdown with 27 seconds remaining. It wasn’t a backbreaker, but it hurt.

Then in the second half wide receiver Garrett Wilson dropped an easy catch and it was picked off on the deflection. After a long return, the Steelers pounded in that one for a touchdown as well.

Momentum was killed.

Beanie Bishop was the player who picked off Rodgers on both occasions. The second of the two felt like it might have ended the game.

The Steelers were leading 16-15 at that point and the interception, combined with the Wilson drop, and then the long return? The wind went right out of the Jets’ sails. New York did not score another point after that point.

This one is pretty simple: What’s the excuse now? First head coach Robert Saleh is fired, then the addition of All-Pro wide receiver was needed.

Not only was this a loss, it was ugly and might have ended the Jets’ season before Halloween. There was huge hype around this team in New York and it is now completely gone.

The Jets will complete their season series against the Patriots (1-6) as they head to New England for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Week 8.

The Jets have recently made a lot of changes to their team but the on-field results continue to lack. A tough second half did not do them any favors in this one.
