McKayla Maroney quickly reminded fans she’s not the MyKayla who Simone Biles trolled after winning gold

McKayla Maroney is not MyKayla Skinner, in case you need an extra reminder

No disrespect to anyone who shares the same name out there, but typically the first person who comes to mind when you hear “McKayla” and “Olympics” in the same sentence is former USA Gymnastics star McKayla Maroney.

This is for two very good reasons.

First, she was a member of the Fierce Five team at the 2012 London Olympics that won a gold medal in the team event. Second, she created one of the greatest memes ever with her unimpressed expression after winning a silver in her individual vault event.

She even got then-President Barack Obama to recreate the image.

But there’s another MyKayla out there, also a former USA Gymnast who caused a bit of a stir with her recent criticism of the current Olympics team. MyKayla Skinner also won silver on the vault at the Olympics, but that was in 2021.

You could see how it’s easy to confuse the two.

McKayla Maroney IS NOT MyKayla Skinner. And while that should be pretty easy to remember now, Maroney made it exceptionally clear with a comment on Simone Biles’ epic Instagram post slamming Skinner’s comments after winning the team gold medal on Tuesday.

Referencing the NSFW nickname Biles bestowed on the 2024 USA Women’s Gymnastics team, Maroney made sure everyone knew her and Biles were still cool.

Now you can remember her for a third reason.

Jordan Chiles and Team USA win gold medal

Chiles gets the gold!

Jordan Chiles, UCLA Bruins gymnastic great, and her teammates earned a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday. Chiles and her teammates Simone Biles, Suni Less, Hezly Rivera and Jade Carey won the top spot over Italy by nearly 6 points.

The US Women finished with a 171.296.  The American team looked great throughout. Chiles had an error when she fell during her beam mount with a front pink salto.

Suni Lee took to the floor today, as Jade Carey struggled with illness, and put together a great routine, at 13.533 to help the USA score high. One of the other notable scores was Biles on the beam, earning a 14.366 overall.

Chiles got redemption when she did her floor routine, as many call it one of the most “stunning floor routines of her career”.

The gold gave the US their 22nd medal overall and 10th gold. There have been 52 gold medals awarded in the 2024 Olympics, and 329 will be given out before it’s all said and done.

Jonathan Owens shared a touching Instagram tribute about Simone Biles after 8th record-breaking gold medal

Jonathan Owens left a very touching message on Instagram for Simone Biles.

Simone Biles‘ husband, Jonathan Owens, was in Paris to see her win another gold medal with Team USA gymnastics, and afterward, he shared a heartfelt message.

Remember several years back when Owens said he didn’t know who his wife was? Well, it’s getting harder and harder to believe that story because his wife is only the greatest gymnast ever. Biles now has a recording breaking EIGHT GOLD MEDALS, the most in Olympics history for an American.

Jonathan was in the building to watch Simone rip out the pages of history books (while rocking a sweet custom shirt), and following her huge night, he posted a touching message to Instagram to celebrate his wife, saying, “Witnessing history every time you step on the mat…So thankful I was there to see it.”

Team USA, Suni Lee wins gold medal in Women’s team finals

The former Auburn star earned another Olympic gold medal as Team USA defeats Italy in the women’s gymnastics finals.

Team USA women’s gymnastics took home the gold medal in the women’s team final on Tuesday, and the results were not even close.

Team USA earned the top spot at the podium Tuesday by scoring 171.296, nearly six full points ahead of the silver medalist team, Italy, who finished with a 165.494 overall score. Former Auburn star [autotag]Suni Lee[/autotag] played a key role in Team USA’s win by having a solid performance on bars (14.566) and beam (14.600).

With Tuesday’s performance, Lee earned her second gold medal in Olympic competition. In 2021, she took home the gold medal in the all-around competition at the Tokyo Games, and she has the chance to win another all-around gold medal Thursday. She finished second in Sunday’s competition, trailing only Simone Biles.

Here’s a look at the best images from Lee and Team USA’s gold medal win.

Simone Biles shared the actual nickname of the 2024 Team USA women’s gymnastics squad, and it’s perfect

Alright, this is pretty perfect.

Team USA women’s gymnastics superstar Simone Biles clarified the actual nickname for the 2024 Paris Olympics squad after revealing a delightfully NSFW nickname on Tuesday.

After Biles called the 2024 American women’s gymnastics roster the “[Expletive] around and find out” squad, Biles shared on Twitter (X) that the team is actually known as the “Golden Girls” because of their collective age and experience.

While the NSFW version is much funnier, the “Golden Girls” is perfectly wholesome, particularly the “Golden” part after the team brought home the gold during Tuesday’s artistic gymnastics women’s team final.

We hope to see some of this “Golden” gymnastics team back in Olympic competition once the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games roll around after its outstanding performance in Paris this week.

Simone Biles seemingly called out former teammate MyKayla Skinner’s criticism after winning gold with Team USA gymnastics

Simone Biles seemed to have some words for a former teammate after taking the gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

After winning yet another Olympic gold medal with Team USA women’s gymnastics on Tuesday, all-star gymnast Simone Biles seemingly called out one of her 2021 Olympic teammates on Instagram.

The comment likely stems from former Team USA gymnastics standout MyKayla Skinner criticizing the new roster of American women’s gymnasts, specifically calling out their perceived lack of talent and work ethic — outside of Biles.

“Besides Simone, I feel like the talent and the depth just isn’t what it used to be. I mean, obviously, a lot of girls don’t work as hard. The girls just don’t have the work ethic,” Skinner said on a recent YouTube video, per Sporting News.

“A lot of girls don’t work as hard. It’s hard too because of SafeSport. Coaches can’t get on athletes which in some ways is really good but at the same time, to get to where you need to be in gymnastics you do have to be…a little aggressive, a little intense.”

Skinner issued two different apologies for her remarks, saying in part that she was comparing the 2024 Olympic team to the 2021 Olympic team she competed with that was guided by the controversial techniques of gymnastics coach Marta Karolyi.

“Upon reflection, I was comparing the ‘Marta Era’ to the current era. I am coming to terms that I have not fully dealt with the emotional and verbal abuse I endured under Marta that perhaps led to my hurtful comments. I take full responsibility for what I said and deeply apologize,” Skinner wrote on Instagram earlier this month.

Well, Biles still seemed to take Skinner’s comments personally, as she shared a photo of this year’s Olympic team celebrating its gold medals on Instagram with the caption, “lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions.”

Team USA gymnastics wasted no time creating the hysterical gold medal TikTok that Simone Biles and Suni Lee planned

Simone Biles and Suni Lee are also TikTok geniuses.

Be as completely dominant as Team USA gymnastics in the Paris Olympics, and you’ve earned the right to some good old-fashioned bravado. Just ask the legendary Simone Biles as she explained her NSFW nickname for herself and her teammates after winning the gold medal in the all-around team final on Tuesday.

As it turns out, the acrobatic ladies weren’t quite done celebrating in their own unique way just yet.

Right after the USA officially won gold, Biles and Suni Lee were filmed mapping out their triumphant TikTok plans. The exchange specifically centered on Lee mentioning how she wanted to do a video with the team, “imagining if they never won” in the style of Kanye West’s infamous Grammys speech.

It was absolutely hilarious to see world-class athletes do this live, and, well, they wasted no time putting their plans into action:

Simone Biles revealed her hilarious NSFW nickname for Team USA gymnastics after they won gold

Simone Biles has a legendary sense of humor, too.

As the greatest American gymnast in Olympic history, the iconic Simone Biles has more than earned the right to be supremely confident.

So of course she was always going to be over the moon for herself and her Team USA teammates after they added to their Paris run with another gold medal. Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey, and Hezly Rivera are just that dominant together.

In the aftermath of their gold medal in the all-around team final on Tuesday, Biles was first seen excitedly planning future TikToks with Lee. Later, while talking to the media, Biles revealed that Team USA’s nickname is perfectly on-brand and absolutely hilarious.

(Warning: NSFW language below.)

Truly, I have no notes. It’s outstanding. Because that is an obvious reference to what happens when you test Biles and her teammates.

[Expletive] and find out when they inevitably win the gold medal.

Simone Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens arrived in Paris from NFL training camp with an amazing custom t-shirt

We love to see a supportive spouse.

Simone Biles‘ husband, Jonathan Owens, officially arrived in Paris from NFL training camp with the Chicago Bears, and he came bearing a SWEET tribute to Simone: a fantastic custom t-shirt.

OK. Listen. If your spouse doesn’t show up to support you like this, you gotta throw the whole spouse away and start over. (I’m kidding.) But seriously, this is the sweetest thing, and everyone deserves this.

Owens got clearance from the Bears to travel to Paris, and he arrived just in time to see Simone and the Team USA women’s gymnastics team compete in the finals. What’s more, he did it while rocking an absolute stunner of a shirt tribute to his wife.

Why Team USA Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik tugs on his ear when he’s competing

It’s fine, Steve. We’re not crying. There’s dust in our eyes.

Stephen Nedoroscik has seemingly captured the hearts of America after his stellar bronze medal-winning performance on Monday. Olympic fans might fall in love with him even more after hearing the sweet reason he tugs on his ear while competing.

Steve’s skyrocketing fame recently earned him some airtime on Today, where he wholesomely explained why you might find him tugging on his ear when he’s on TV. The move started back in college and has continued to the Olympic stage in Paris.

Here’s what he shared about what tugging on his ear actually means:

“So, this right here [tugging on ears] is for my dad’s father — my dziadek, that means grandfather in Polish — he passed away last year, unfortunately…”

“His name is Stephen John Nedoroscik, just like me. I’m named after him. And back when I was at Penn State, that was the thing that I did whenever I was on TV to say, ‘Hey, Dziadek.’ So, I’ve kept the tradition up, and now it also means ‘Hey’ to everyone that I love.”
