Dustin Johnson’s putt rolled across the 18th green at Augusta National Golf Club and stopped about a foot short of the hole, leaving him a tap-in late on an autumn Sunday afternoon. It was November 15, 2020, and making that putt would have been great, but I reality it didn’t matter. Holing the short next putt and scoring 4 under for the day gave the American a total of 20 under at the 2020 Masters, good enough for a five-shot win over Australia’s Cameron Smith.

To celebrate his victory, TaylorMade is releasing the Dustin Johnson Spider Limited Commemorative Edition putter for $499. It is available now available for preorder ($499) and will be available for purchase on April 9.

Like Johnson’s own putter, the limited edition club has no alignment aids or sight lines. (TaylorMade)

The putter is a replica of the club Johnson used last November at the Masters. It is 35 inches long and only available in a right-hand version. It has a black crown no alignment aids of sightlines, a short slant hosel and a Counter Core SuperStroke GT 1.0 grip. In the sole, there are two 9-gram weights placed in the heel and toe. The face is destined with a TaylorMade’s Pure Roll insert. The soleplate has been given a commemorative black and green logo in the center.

Each Dustin Johnson Spider Limited Commemorative Edition putter will come in a commemorative box.

Irons used by the top 10 golfers in strokes gained approach the green

See which clubs are used by the best iron players on the PGA Tour as they prepare for the Masters.

Spring is in the air, and for golf lovers that means one thing: the Masters. The best players in the world are preparing to take on Augusta National Golf Club in pursuit of the coveted green jacket.

While the course’s fairways are edged by a second, slightly higher cut of grass, there is no deep rough of the kind that traditionally faces players at most U.S. Opens or PGA Championships. For that reason, most players can be more aggressive off the tee at the Masters, but precision with irons on approach shots is critical. Missing the target by just a few feet when hitting to Augusta National’s famous greens can make the difference between a birdie chance and scrambling to avoid a big number.

The players listed below are the top 10 in strokes gained approach the green, the best statistical measure of iron play on the PGA Tour. The list also includes the irons they are playing. Strokes gained measures how much better or worse a player is versus the field average, so a strokes gained of 1.0 means that player is one stroke better than the field average per round.

Masters: Shoes Nike players will be wearing at Augusta National in 2021

See the Nike footwear, designed using recycled materials, that players like Rory McIlroy, Tony Finau and Jason Day will wear at the Masters.

While Nike’s most iconic golfer, Tiger Woods, is not going to be competing next week at the 2021 Masters, plenty of other big-name players who wear Nike footwear are going to be in the field. Golfers like Rory McIlroy, Tony Finau, Jason Day and others will be at Augusta National Golf Club trying to win the year’s first men’s major championship.

While Nike is not officially making any Masters-themed footwear, the company does have new colorways that will be featured by its athletes starting next week. Collectively, they are being called Nike’s Masters NRG Pack, but individually they are the Air Zoom Victory Tour 2 NRG, Air Max 90 G NRG and the Air Zoom Infinity Tour NRG.

The uppers in all the shoes are made from 100 percent recycled canvas, which gives them a raw, rougher look and feel. The lace loops and the canvas on the tongue are also made from 100 percent recycled materials.

Srixon Q-Star Tour Divide golf balls

The unique coloring of Srixon’s Q-Star Tour Divide makes it easy to spot, while the cover material and fast core boost performance.

Gear: Srixon Q-Star Tour Divide golf balls
Price: $32.99
Specs: Three-piece, urethane-covered ball with matte yellow and orange coloration
Available: April 15

When March 24th dawned over Middlefield, Connecticiut, a chilly fog covered the first fairway of Lyman Orchards’ Player Course. It’s an uphill par 4 with a large tree guarding the corner of the dogleg right, but that tree was shrouded by the mist. Even the start of the fairway, about 50 yards up the slope from the tee box, was barely visible.

An orange and yellow streak suddenly split the foggy air like a disco ball. It was a Srixon Q-Star Tour Divide golf ball, the latest offering from the Japanese brand, and when it came to rest about 200 yards up the fairway, it was easy to spot because the Q-Star Tour Divide looks like few balls most players have ever seen.

The Q-Star Tour Divide is a three-piece ball with a core that is very soft in the center that becomes gradually firmer in its outer areas. Srixon calls it a FastLayer core, and it helps provide a soft feel and more ball speed.

On top of the core is a thin casing layer, which is surrounded by a new thermoplastic urethane cover that features an aerodynamic 338-dimple pattern. The pattern is designed to make the ball more stable in the wind and reduce drag for more distance.

However, instead of adding paint to the cover, Srixon infused the urethane with yellow and orange pigments. The high-visibility matte colors make the Q-Star Tour Divide easy to spot in flight as well as on the ground. The bright coloring also makes it easy to see the spin on chip shots and pitch shots, as well as to align the ball on the green for a putt. The two-tone coloration clearly shows how well the ball is rolling on putts.

At the same time, Srixon said the Q-Star Tour Divide should provide the same performance and spin characteristics as the standard Q-Star Tour ball.

PXG Apparel, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, has introduced a new color, “Paratrooper Blue” in addition to its typical black-and-white monochromatic color palette. This vibrant color is inspired by the Arizona skies and their juxtaposition with the landscape.

PXG, founded by entrepreneur Bob Parsons in 2014, has built a name on its innovative lines of golf clubs. PXG Apparel was established in 2018 with Renee Parsons as president and executive creator director of apparel.

In this latest collection, PXG has introduced its version of sustainable fashion. Some pieces are crafted with recycled yarn, nylon carpets, fishing nets and other landfill-bound products. Its fabrication is eco-friendly with a commitment to sports performance.

“I have witnessed incredible adaptability from our communities as we have had to adjust to a new normal.” Renee Parsons said. “This has not only inspired us to create a collection that reflects confidence and resilience but has also influenced new designs anchored in soft, technical fabrics and transitional pieces that provide comfort, style and ease.”
