Gear: Odyssey Ai-ONE Square 2 Square Putters Price:$299.99 each Specs: Center-shafted putters urethane insert, 3.3-degree forward press, and navy blue PVD finish. Available:Now (pre-order), Nov. 29 (in stores)
Who it’s for: The Ai-ONE Square 2 Square putters should appeal to golfers who want to minimize face rotation and increase their consistency on the greens.
What You Need to Know: This line extension blends a White Hot face insert that was developed using artificial intelligence, with toe-up weighting and balance intended to help golfers reduce face rotation during the stroke.
The deep dive: Odyssey released the first Ai-One putters in late 2023, promoting them as tools that could enhance a golfer’s distance control thanks to a White Hot face insert engineered with the help of artificial intelligence. The lineup expanded last month to include severalnew Ai-One and Ai-One Milled putters, including 2-Balls, Jailbirds and other midsize mallets.
Now, Odyssey is introducing the Ai-ONE Square 2 Square line and bringing the AI-designed face insert to a putter category that’s gaining a lot of attention — zero torque putters.
The new Ai-ONE Square 2 Square line includes two mallets, the Jailbird and #7, as well as a heel-toe weighted blade with an extended back flange that is called the Double Wide. All three putters have a center-shafted design, but instead of bringing the shaft into the topline, it connects well behind the face and a few millimeters toward the toe from the center of gravity (CG) location. As a result of that hosel location, if you hold the putters freely across your hands, the toe goes up and the face naturally points forward, toward your target.
Each Ai-ONE Square 2 Square putter is also designed with a 3.3-degree forward press, so the shaft leans toward your target when you address the ball.
The combination of the toe-up balance and forward press takes away the putter head’s bias to rotate closed on the backswing and rotate open on the downswing. So, the Ai-ONE Square 2 Square putters remain square to a golfer’s stroke path, regardless of whether that path is relatively straight, slightly arched, or strongly arched.
Odyssey believes this combination of reduced torque (face rotation), the AI-designed White Hot insert, and the latest counterbalanced Stroke Lab shaft can help golfers produce a smoother stroke with a better tempo that naturally keeps the face square to the path, and that should help golfers hit better putts.
Odyssey is not claiming that this is the first or only zero-torque putter out there, but the Ai-One Square 2 Square putters conquer one of the challenges faced by club designers in this category: zero-torque putters often look very unconventional. The Ai-ONE Square 2 Square putters have classic head shapes that will be familiar to just about every golfer.
The Jailbird, originally released in 2014 and used by Wyndham Clark to win the 2023 U.S. Open, incorporates Odyssey’s signature Versa alignment stripes. The #7 is a fang-style mallet with dual white alignment lines that help frame the ball, making alignment more intuitive. The Double Wide completes the lineup as a modern, heel-toe weighted blade with a T-shaped white alignment aid.
Gear: PXG Desert Golf Club Price: $99.99 Specs: 36.5-inch shaft, 44° loft, mid-bounce sole, made from raw hardened 17-4 stainless steel
Who It’s For: Golfers who frequent desert terrain or who often find themselves in a bit of a rugged predicament after a wayward drive.
What You Need to Know: PXG has crafted the Desert Golf Club specifically for shots where your golf ball might be a little too cozy with cacti, rocks or desert brush and you don’t want to damage or gash your clubs.
The Deep Dive: One of the great things about desert golf is after hitting a wayward shot that slices right of the fairway or goes over the green and into a nature area, finding your ball can be surprisingly easy. The bad news is you may not like what you see once you have found that ball. Rocks, rooks, cacti, sand, pebbles — it’s all out there, waiting to damage your shiny new irons and wedges.
PXG’s new Desert Golf Club doesn’t shy away from off-road adventures, it was designed for them. When wise judgment says, “Declare the ball unplayable and take a drop,” the Desert Club sits in your bag, gleaming, covered in saguaro cactus stamps, whispering, “Go ahead, I’ve got this.”
The Desert Club is made using 17-4 stainless steel, a harder material than the 8620 carbon steel and 431 stainless steel PXG uses in the body of its irons and wedges, so it should be more durable. It comes standard with the length of an 8-iron (36.5 inches) and the loft of a pitching wedge (44 degrees). A combination like that should allow players to make a fast swing, get the ball over trouble and back into play.
Is the PXG Desert Golf Club something every golfer needs? No, it’s not. It is, however, a clever alternative to the old, beat-up iron that many golfers in Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada, Texas and the desert regions of California commonly carry for handling off-the-fairway trouble shots.
Caitlin Clark took over the LPGA on Wednesday when she played in The Annika pro-am alongside Nelly Korda and Annika Sorenstam — she played the front nine with the world No. 1 and the back with the GOAT.
Fans came out in droves to Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, to get an up-close look at the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and her golf game.
Her one goal for the day was to avoid hitting a fan, and she nearly failed. However, she rebounded and played some great shots throughout the morning.
Social media quickly picked up on Clark’s shoes and were obsessed with the gold bottoms. Her shoes were Nike’s Infinity Tour 2, however, they were a Player Exclusive, meaning they’re not available to the public.
A three-camera system and portable design let you use the Approach R50 on the range or at home to collect data or play simulated holes.
Garmin is a massive company that has proven good at creating products that track things. For years, the company has been making Global Positioning System (GPS) devices for pilots and sailors. It makes watches and wearable devices for runners, cyclists, and fitness enthusiasts, and over the last decade, Garmin has made several well-regarded golf GPS devices and laser rangefinders. Garmin also made the Approach R10 and Approach G80 launch monitors, but with the release of the new Approach R50, the Olathe, Kansas-based brand is offering its most sophisticated and versatile golf product ever.
The Approach R50 ($4,999.99) is a portable launch monitor that can provide up to 15 club and ball metrics, indoors or on the range, that is also a fully integrated simulator that comes pre-loaded with over 43,000 courses.
[afflinkbutton text=”Shop new Garmin Approach R50″ link=”https://dicks-sporting-goods.ryvx.net/WyDR0G”]
How does the Garmin Approach R50 work?
The Approach R50 uses a three-camera system to capture each shot in high resolution, frame by frame. This allows the system to accurately track both the club as it goes through the impact zone and the ball’s movement to collect comprehensive swing data and launch data.
The R50, which comes with a carrying case to make it easier to move, is straightforward to charge and its battery supports up to 4 hours of simulator or launch monitor use.
What does the Garmin Approach R50 do?
The three-camera system allows the Approach R50 to capture data and reveal stats like ball speed, spin rate, launch angle, spin axis, carry distance, and total distance. Golfers see that information on a massive 10-inch color touchscreen that can also replay high-speed impact videos. The Approach R50 can provide this information on any club in a player’s bag, from driver to putter, and it can do it on the range or indoors when a golfer hits into either a net or screen.
[afflinkbutton text=”Shop new Garmin Approach R50″ link=”https://dicks-sporting-goods.ryvx.net/WyDR0G”]
In addition to being a sophisticated launch monitor, the Approach R50 can be used as a golf simulator, again, either outside or inside. Using Garmin’s Home Tee Hero software, up to four players can play and compete on up to 43,000 different courses.
On the range, the 10-inch color touchscreen makes it easy to see the simulated hole and shots you are playing, but indoors the unit can be attached to a projector using an HDMI cable to create a realistic indoor simulator. And, because the Approach R50 gathers such detailed information about the shots you hit, the virtual flight of the ball in the simulator is more realistic.
The device also offers compatibility with third-party simulators like GSPro, E6 Connect, and Awesome Golf, expanding the options for virtual play beyond Garmin’s own platform.
Who is the Garmin Approach R50 for?
The $599 Garmin R10 is a more portable launch monitor and the Approach G80, at $499, is also very small and features a colorful screen, but the Approach R50 is designed for a completely different player. While those units can certainly provide valuable insights and information, the three-camera system of the Approach R50, along with its ability to provide tour-level metrics and information make it a product that could be considered by elite golfers who play and train year-round, college golfers, instructors and deep-pocketed recreational golfers who may have tinkered with the idea of creating a simulator in their basement or garage.
The large color screen on the Approach R50 makes seeing the data easy, and with over 43,000 courses pre-loaded, it should make the idea of “playing holes” on the range easier, which can make practice sessions more meaningful.

It has been a very busy year for Vokey Design, the wedge division of Titleist. Back in January, the brand released the SM10 wedge family, but throughout the year, WedgeWorks, the tour-inspired custom division of the Vokey brand has dropped several limited-edition offerings, including the L Grind, A+ Grind and V Grind. Now we can add the K* (pronounced K Star) Grind wedge to that list.
Available only as a 58- and 60-degree lob wedge with True Temper Dynamic Gold S200 shaft and Titleist Universal 360 grip, the K* Grind wedge was developed after tour players approached Aaron Dill, Vokey’s PGA Tour rep, and requested he modify the sole of a standard low-bounce K Grind wedge. Instead of keeping the wide sole smooth, they wanted extra pre-wear on the leading edge and more relief in heel, toe and trailing edge.
The result of Dill’s work and experimentation is a wedge that is ideal for players who like to hit shots with a shallow attack angle and sweep the ball off the turf from a square stance.
However, because the K* Grind has extra material removed in the heel and toe areas, when golfers open the face, skilled players can still slide the leading edge under the ball because the leading edge stays down. At the same time, in bunkers, the overall sole width acts like effective bounce and makes the K* Grind an excellent choice from greenside sand.
With that level of versatility, it should come as no surprise Justin Thomas, Cameron Young, and Ludvig Aberg are among the players who frequently have a K* wedge in their bag.
The WedgeWorks K* wedge, which will cost $225 and come in a raw-steel finish that will rust over time and with exposure to air and moisture, is only available as a right-hand club.
