Eagles activate WR Quez Watkins and CB Craig James from Reserve/Injured list

The Philadelphia Eagles have some more offensive reinforcements heading to the active roster after the team announced that wide receiver Quez Watkins and cornerback Craig James were active off the reserve injured list.

Watkins had his 21-day practice window activated last week and he could be the team’s fifth wide receiver against the Steelers on Sunday.

James has been out since suffering an injury in the season opener against the Washington Football Team.

The Philadelphia Eagles had three open roster spots in advance of Sunday’s matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers and the club just signed Grayland Arnold to the active roster.

Arnold’s promotion is not a surprise considering the fact that the Eagles will be without starting cornerback Avonte Maddox (ankle) and backup Trevor Williams (rib).

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery when they match up with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Philadelphia Eagles released their final injury report in advance of Sunday’s game against the host Pittsburgh Steelers and the Birds will again be without their two star wide receivers in Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson.

Jeffery missed the bulk of practice this week with a non-COVID related illness, while Jackson got in limited practice but was ruled out at the last minute.

The Philadelphia Eagles just released their Friday injury report and star wide receiver DeSean Jackson was ruled out against the Steelers with a hamstring injury.

Jackson had been questionable for Sunday’s game with a hamstring injury after he missed the Eagles’ Week 4 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

For the second straight week, the Eagles will rely on Greg Ward, Travis Fulgham, and John Hightower at wide receiver for the second consecutive week with J.J. Arcega-Whiteside.

Fulgham scored the go-ahead 42-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter. Ward finished with four catches for 38 yards in the victory and Hightower had two catches for 22 yards.

The Jordan Mailata experiment at the left tackle position was successful on Sunday night and his audition could turn into a permanent spot along the Eagles offensive line.

On Friday during his final zoom meeting for the week, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson gave Mailata a ringing endorsement and even hinted at the huge athletic lineman staying at left tackle even after Jason Peters returns.

During his debut against the 49ers, Mailata gave up 0 sacks, 0 QB hits, 1 QB hurry allowed, with a 75.2 pass-blocking grade (Lane Johnson 76.4)

Pederson went on to say that he’s hoping Mailata will make the decision for Eagles coaches difficult when Jason Peters is cleared to play.

Alshon Jeffery is getting closer to making his 2020 debut with the Philadelphia Eagles but he’ll likely wait another week after missing most of this week with a non-COVID-related illness Doug Pederson reported on Friday.

Jeffery has been out since last season after suffering a Lisfranc injury and although the Eagles didn’t put the star wide receiver on the PUP list, he’ll miss his fifth straight game this season.

Alshon Jeffery missed practice with an illness, while Rodney McLeod (hamstring) and Lane Johnson (ankle) were limited as well.

JJ Arcega-Whiteside was a full participant today as well as Fletcher Cox, Marcus Epps, Nate Herbig, and Jason Kelce.

McLeod popped up on the injury on Wednesday but is expected to start and play an integral role against the Steelers.

The Philadelphia Eagles made three roster moves on Thursday, first signing linebacker Dante Olson to the practice squad and then placing middle linebacker T.J. Edwards and safety Rudy Ford on the reserve/injured list.

Edwards and Ford both suffered hamstring injuries in the Eagles Week 4 win over the San Francisco 49ers and were forced to leave the game.

Linebacker Alex Singleton is likely to take Edwards’ spot in the lineup.

The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former undrafted free agent linebacker Dante Olson to the practice squad after having him in for a visit and workout on Tuesday.

Olson was the 2019 Buck Buchanan Award winner, which is given to the most outstanding defensive player in the FCS. A tackling machine at Montana in the last two seasons.

Olson started 25 of 47 games at Montana and during his final season, he set the Big Sky Conference’s single-season record for tackles with 179 and made 26 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, three interceptions, five forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. In the game that put him on the map, Olson registered 14 tackles against Oregon.
