Rams Sean McVay calls Nick Sirianni the most disrespected coach in NFL

Rams Sean McVay calls Nick Sirianni the most disrespected coach in the league for a guy who is making his second Super Bowl appearance.

Nick Sirianni is among the winningest head coaches to start an NFL career. However, a loaded team and a highly criticized opening press conference have constantly caused pundits to ridicule the Eagles head coach.

Finishing up year four as an NFL head coach, Sirianni has been to two Super Bowls and is one win away from being one of the highest-paid coaches in the NFL.

During the Super Bowl pregame show on Fox, Rams head coach Sean McVay called Sirianni the most “disrespected coach in the league.”

According to Elias Sports, Nick Sirianni is the third NFL head coach to advance to multiple Super Bowls in their first four career years, joining Joe Gibbs (1982, ‘83) and Mike Tomlin (2008, ‘10) in that category. Sirianni is the first Super Bowl Era head coach to make the playoffs in each of their first four career seasons while reaching the Super Bowl multiple times (also Super Bowl LVII). He is also the only Eagles head coach to advance to two Super Bowls and is the second to appear in multiple NFL championship games (Greasy Neale from 1947-49).

Overall, Sirianni is the fifth Super Bowl Era head coach to earn postseason berths in each of their first four career years at the helm, joining John Harbaugh (2008-11 Ravens), Bill Cowher (1992-95 Steelers), John Robinson (1983-86 Rams) and Chuck Knox (1973-76 Rams). Sirianni is the 12th NFL head coach to lead their teams to a 17+ win season (including playoffs), joining Bill Belichick (four), Mike Ditka, Joe Gibbs, Chuck Noll, Bill Parcells, Andy Reid, Ron Rivera, George Seifert, Mike Shanahan, Don Shula and Bill Walsh. He is one of seven head coaches to win 14+ regular-season games multiple times.

According to Elias Sports, Sirianni (.706, 48-20) owns the 3rd-highest regular-season winning percentage by a head coach in the Super Bowl Era (min. 50 games), trailing only John Madden (.759, 1969-78) and
George Allen (.712, 1966-77). Overall, it is the 6th-highest mark in NFL history, behind Guy Chamberlin (.784, 1922-27), Madden, Vince Lombardi (.738, 1959-67, ‘69), Ray Flaherty (.720, 1936-42), and Allen.

Sirianni won the 2nd-most regular-season games with an NFL head coach in their first four career years, behind George Seifert (52-12, .813). He also joins Seifert (three) as the only NFL head coach to win 14+ regular-season games twice in their first four career years.

Report: Kellen Moore will fly back with Eagles following Super Bowl before joining Saints

Kellen Moore will fly back to Philadelphia with the Eagles before joining the New Orleans Saints

Kellen Moore is the clear front-runner for the New Orleans Saints.

The Eagles offensive coordinator is expected to receive a formal job offer after Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX matchup, which he’s likely to accept.

Nick Underhill reports that Moore will fly back to Philadelphia with the Eagles before beginning the process of accepting the Saints’ head coaching position.

Like Jonathan Gannon after Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, Arizona, the assumption was that Saints brass would ensure that Moore doesn’t leave New Orleans after the Eagles face the Chiefs on Sunday night.

After a historic career at Boise State, Moore served as the Cowboys’ backup quarterback from 2015 to 2017 before taking over as quarterbacks coach in 2018. Dallas promoted him to offensive coordinator the following season, and he held that job through 2022.

This season, Philadelphia finished eighth in total yards, seventh in points, and second in rushing yards, but it had a league-low in passing attempts.

Report: Saints expected to hire Eagles OC Kellen Moore as coach after Super Bowl LIX

Saints expected to hire Eagles OC Kellen Moore as coach after Super Bowl LIX

Kellen Moore is the clear front-runner for the New Orleans Saints. According to Adam Schefter, the Eagles offensive coordinator is expected to receive a formal job offer after Sunday’s Super Bowl LIX matchup, which he’s likely to accept.

Since the postseason began, Saints brass have interviewed Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator twiceTom Pelissero reports that the two sides will meet again after Super Bowl LIX at the earliest possible time or conduct another interview.

Pelissero reports that New Orleans GM Micky Loomis has blocked communication with other candidates, and Moore has been assembling his coaching staff.

Like Jonathan Gannon after Super Bowl 57 in Glendale, Arizona, Saints brass could ensure that Moore doesn’t leave New Orleans after the Eagles face the Chiefs.

Philadelphia racked up 459 yards of total offense and scored 55 points in a blowout win over Washington in the NFC Championship game. Following that performance, the Saints quickly secured a second interview with Moore before Super Bowl 59 in their host city.

After a historic career at Boise State, Moore served as the Cowboys’ backup quarterback from 2015 to 2017 before taking over as quarterbacks coach in 2018. Dallas promoted him to offensive coordinator the following season, and he held that job through 2022.

Nick Sirianni could join group of highest-paid NFL coaches with Super Bowl win over Chiefs

Nick Sirianni could become one of the highest-paid NFL coaches with a Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs

Nick Sirianni is one of the most accomplished head coaches in NFL history. Through his first four seasons, he has become one of the most accomplished coaches in the league. Just hours before Super Bowl LIX kicks off, the Eagles’ top guy is in line to make millions with a win.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, one of the lowest-paid head coaches is in line for a significant pay raise with a win over Andy Reid.

Siriani makes $7 million per season and is one of the lowest-paid NFL head coaches. He initially signed a five-year, $35 million deal in January 2021 that is set to expire after the 2025 season.

Sirianni, 43, is 48-20 in the regular season over his four years with the Eagles and has led Philadelphia to the Super Bowl in two of the last three years. Eagles CEO Jeff Lurie told reporters this week that Siriani “has done a phenomenal job” and called him “an incredible leader.”

Owner Jeffrey Lurie had this to say when asked about Sirianni during Super Bowl opening night.

“His future is going to be great,” Lurie said Monday. “We never talk about contracts or whatever publicly in 30 years, so I’m not going to start now. But he’s great.”

Sirianni is the first Super Bowl-era head coach to make the playoffs in their first four career seasons while reaching the Super Bowl multiple times (also Super Bowl LVII). He is the only Eagles’ head coach to advance to two Super Bowls and the second to appear in numerous NFL championship games (Greasy Neale from 1947-49).

Nick Sirianni raves about Kevin Patullo amid Kellen Moore head coaching buzz

Nick Sirianni says he trust Kevin Patullo and has complete faith in the Eagles passing game coordinator ahead of Super Bowl LIX

Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore has been focused on the task despite the apparent announcement that he won’t leave New Orleans with the Eagles after Super Bowl LIX.

Outside of something dramatic, Moore is expected to become the 19th head coach in Saints franchise history.  The expected move will force Philadelphia to name a new offensive coordinator for the third consecutive offseason.

Veteran NFL assistant Kevin Patullo has been working with the Eagles offense since the 2021 season, and he has a shot at being the leading candidate to assume the role of Hurts’ fourth offensive coordinator in this system.

During his Super Bowl press conference on Thursday, Sirianni raved about Patullo amid rumors that Moore is gone.

Patullo’s role as the passing game coordinator has provided some head coach and offensive coordinator responsibilities.

“I get to do both, which is very fortunate,” he said. “I get to see a lot of stuff as a coach that most people don’t get to see if they’re not the head coach. So from that point of view, it’s very unique. (Head coach Nick Sirianni) trusts me, and obviously we’re very close and I get to be part of a lot of decisions. So that’s really valuable to me.”

Patullo has played a key role in the development of Jalen Hurts. The 44-year-old has been a quarterbacks coach and pass-game specialist at the NFL level for most of the last 20 years.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts laughs when asked about potentially getting another new OC

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts can only laugh when asked about potentially playing for another offensive coordinator if Kellen Moore gets the Saints job

Since his time at Channelview High School in East Houston, Jalen Hurts has only had the same offensive coordinator once in consecutive years.

On Tuesday, one day after Super Bowl opening night, Hurts laughed when asked about Kellen Moore potentially leaving to take the Saints’ job. Thus, the Eagles quarterback would once again have a new offensive coordinator o

Hurts, who spent three years at the University of Alabama before transferring to Oklahoma, never had consecutive seasons with the same play-caller at the collegiate level.  With the Crimson Tide, Lane Kiffin got the head coaching job at Florida Atlantic; Steve Sarkisian got the offensive coordinator job with the Atlanta Falcons; Brian Daboll got the offensive coordinator job with the Buffalo Bills.

During his NFL tenure with the Eagles, Shane Steichen was the only offensive coordinator with whom Hurts had multiple years.  That resulted in an MVP runner-up and his first Super Bowl appearance before Steichen landed with the Indianapolis Colts.

When Steichen was hired in Indianapolis, Brian Johnson was promoted from quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator. Philadelphia finished seventh in points per game (25.5) last season, but the offense struggled down the stretch as the Eagles lost six of seven following a 10-1 start. Johnson was fired and replaced by Moore, the former Dallas Cowboys and Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator, in February.

This season, with Moore at the helm, the Eagles’ offense was eighth in total yards (367.2), 29th in passing offense (187.9), and, most importantly, seventh in points (27.2).

Under Moore, Philadelphia rushed for a single-season club-record 3,048 yards (6th most in NFL history) and finished 2nd in the NFL in rushing yards per game (179.3), trailing only Baltimore (187.6). The Eagles are the second team in NFL history to rush for 3,000+ yards and 25+ TDs (29).

Philadelphia set a club record in passer rating (103.4) in 2024.

With Moore likely to land the New Orleans Saints job, Hurts will smile as he learns another offensive system.

Eagles to face Chip Kelly in 2025 after he’s hired as Raiders offensive coordinator

Philadelphia Eagles to face former head coach Chip Kelly in 2025 after he’s hired as the Las Vegas Raiders offensive coordinator

After winning at Ohio State, Chip Kelly has returned to the NFL as Pete Carroll’s offensive coordinator with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Kelly was considered an early target for the Jaguars and Texans positions.

Kelly, 61, just won a national championship with the Buckeyes. After flaming out with the Eagles and 49ers, he’s kept an interest in the NFL for years, including last year when his name was tossed around the league following his UCLA tenure and before he went to Ohio State.

Kelly is now in Las Vegas but will return to Philadelphia in 2025 to face his former team when the Eagles host the Raiders at Lincoln Financial Field.

Kelly becomes the third assistant coach to leave Ohio State this offseason, joining defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and offensive line coach Justin Frye. Knowles left the Buckeyes to become the defensive coordinator at Penn State, while Frye left Ohio State to become the Arizona Cardinals’ offensive line coach.

With Kelly calling Ohio State’s offensive plays and coaching the Buckeyes’ quarterbacks, Ohio State scored 35.7 points per game – an increase of more than five points per game from 2023 – and Will Howard completed a school-record 73% of his passes while leading the team to a national championship.

A legendary coach at Oregon, Kelly was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles for three seasons and then coached the 49ers for a year before being dismissed. Kelly has been in the college ranks since becoming the UCLA coach in 2018.
