Philadelphia Eagles to hire Bobby King as inside linebackers coach

With Vic Fangio now entrenched as the Eagles defensive coordinator, his first staff in Philadelphia is starting to fill out.

Tim McManus of ESPN reports that the Eagles are hiring former Tennessee Titans inside linebackers coach Bobby King for “a similar role in Philly.”

The Eagles previously interviewed former Green Bay Packers coordinator Joe Barry and former Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Mike Caldwell for the position.

The Dolphins hired Barry as their new linebackers coach/run game coordinator, while Caldwell joined the Las Vegas Raiders with the same title.

King started his career in 2010 as the assistant linebackers coach/defensive quality control coach before moving on to the Texans.

King has spent time in Houston and San Diego, and most recently with the Titans, where he previously coached Zach Cunningham.

Eagles officially announce the hiring of Kellen Moore as offensive ccordinator

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the hiring of Kellen Moore as the team’s new offensive coordinator after firing Brian Johnson

With Jim Harbaugh now the head coach of the Chargers, Kellen Moore was on the outs, and he found the perfect landing spot.

Adam Schefter reported that the former Cowboys and Chargers play caller will get Jalen Hurts and the Eagles offense back on track as the team’s new offensive coordinator.

Philadelphia officially announced the move on Monday.

The 35-year-old Moore spent the 2023 season as the Chargers’ offensive coordinator. After five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, he joined Brandon Staley’s staff in January 2023.

In 2023, the Chargers finished No. 18 in total yards and No. 21 in points scored.

In 2019, the Cowboys offense finished No. 1 in yards and No. 6 in points with Moore as offensive coordinator.

Dallas was No. 1 in both categories in the 2021 season.

The Eagles have a new quarterback coach, hiring the veteran Doug Nussmeier to help get All-Pro signal-caller Jalen Hurts back on track.

Nussmeier has worked with Moore in Dallas and Los Angeles with the Cowboys, helping to develop Justin Herbert and Dak Prescott before that.

Nussmeier, a former NFL quarterback, was a fourth-round selection by the New Orleans Saints in the 1994 draft. Nussmeier found most of his success as a professional football player in Canada, where he was a Grey Cup champion with the British Columbia Lions in 2000.

He has held various roles on coaching staffs in Canada, in the college ranks, and in the NFL since his playing days ended.

Former Eagles assistant coach Brian Johnson to interview for Commanders OC job

Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive assistant Brian Johnson to interview for Commanders offensive coordinator job

Reports suggest that Brian Johnson would land on his feet in another system, and the first-year offensive coordinator is heading to Washington to interview for their vacant position, according to Jordan Schultz.

The Commanders have a vacancy after Dann Quinn became the first head coaching hire of the Josh Harris era as owner.

Johnson, 36, took over as Eagles offensive coordinator this year after spending two seasons under Shane Steichen as quarterbacks coach, helping the Eagles reach the Super Bowl after last season.

Johnson was promoted after Steichen landed the Colts heading coaching job, but he came under fire after the Philadelphia offense grew “stale’ while regressing this season.

Eagles DB coach D.K. McDonald expected to be named Kansas Jayhawks new co-defensive coordinator

D.K. McDonald departing Eagles to accept DC job at Kansas

The Eagles are losing another staffer, as defensive backs coach D.K. McDonald is expected to go to Kansas to become the Jayhawks new co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach.

Before arriving in Philadelphia, he’d spent the previous five seasons at Iowa State, where he served as the pass game coordinator and worked with the defensive backs.

McDonald is replacing former co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach Jordan Peterson who left to assume a position on the Texas A&M staff.

Kansas is coming off of back-to-back bowl game appearances under head coach Lance Leipold.

Eagles’ WR A.J. Brown on Brian Johnson’s firing: ‘Somebody has to be the bad guy’

Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown says he’s not surprised that offensive coordinator Brian Johnson was fired and that someone has to be the bad guy

The Brian Johnson era is over in Philadelphia, as Derrick Gunn initially reported that the Eagles’ embattled offensive coordinator wouldn’t return to that position in 2024.

The Eagles moved quickly to hire former Cowboys and Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for the same position.

With the offseason underway, players have reacted, and A.J. Brown may have offered the most insightful assessment of what happened.

While talking to Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press, Brown chalked Johnson’s firing up to “somebody having to be the bad guy.”

Brown went on to say that he doesn’t get attached to who the offensive coordinator is for his team and that Philadelphia failed to execute down the stretch.

Former Eagles and current UCLA coach Chip Kelly could be candidate for Commanders OC job

Former Eagles and current UCLA head coach Chip Kelly could be candidate for Commanders offensive coordinator job

Chip Kelly could be heading back to the NFC East, as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the UCLA head coach could be a candidate for the Commanders’ vacant offensive coordinator job.

Washington made their first hire under new owner Josh Harris, hiring Dan Quinn away from the Dallas Cowboys.

Washington hired Adam Peters as general manager on Jan. 12. The moves represent the first onfield steps to moving on from Dan Snyder and his toxic regime.

Quinn served as Dallas’ defensive coordinator for the past three seasons, and during that stint, the Cowboys ranked a combined fifth in points and seventh in yards. Under Quinn, the Cowboys led the NFL with 93 forced turnovers.

The Commanders finished 4-13 in 2023 but will enter the offseason with momentum as they own the No. 2 pick in the 2024 draft and five picks in the top 100.

According to Over The Cap, they also have approximately $70 million in available cap space.

With Vic Fangio in Philadelphia as the Eagles defensive coordinator, the legendary play-caller is starting to put together his staff.

The NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reports that the Eagles have requested permission to interview Dolphins safeties coach Joe Kasper for the same position.

Kasper spent two seasons (2021-22) with Philadelphia as a defensive quality control coach before joining Fangio in Miami with the Dolphins.

Philadelphia hired Casper ahead of the 2021 season after he spent three years at Duke University as a Grad Assistant.

Kasper’s experience at the college level included defensive backs for two years and quarterbacks for his final season with the Blue Devils.

Chad Johnson is angling for job as Eagles wide receivers coach

Chad Johnson wants to coach the Philadelphia Eagles wide receivers

Long before Howie Roseman passed on Justin Jefferson for Jalen Reagor, they picked a Pac 10 star from UCLA over several big-named prospects, including a future Bengals legend.

The Bengals drafted Chad Johnson out of Oregon State in the second round of the 2001 NFL draft.

Johnson finished his career with 766 catches for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdown catches, clearly outdoing Freddie Mitchell, who the Eagles selected at No. 25 overall in the first round.

Now a podcaster and jack of all trades, Johnson spends time in Philadelphia filming Inside The NFL on the CW Network.

During one of his recent social media sessions, Johnson again angled for a role with the Eagles, this time as the wide receivers coach.

Johnson has close relations with Eagles wide receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, and he’s previously confessed his love for Philadelphia, thanks to fans pelting Santa Claus.

Johnson was in Allentown this summer for DeVonta Smith’s celebrity softball game and gave a unique reason for why he should have been in Philadelphia during his career.

“I don’t know how to explain it,” Ochocinco said Saturday via Chris Franklin of NJ.com. “I like how they call people d**** and s***. There is no fanbase like this. They f*** beat up Santa. Who does that? I fell in love with the city, hearing the stories in a couple of months of training with Boots. I wished I would have been able to play here.”

Aaron Moorehead had been the Eagles wide receivers coach for the past three years but could be removed from the role amid the coaching purge on both sides of the football.

Jason Kelce offers strongest support yet regarding Nick Sirianni’s value as head coach

Jason Kelce offers strongest support yet regarding Nick Sirianni’s value as head coach and what he brings to the Philadelphia Eagles

Following the Eagles’ 32-9 loss to the Buccaneers in the wild card round, Fletcher Cox and Jason Kelce were among the players who offered support for head coach Nick Sirianni amid opinions that he should be fired.

While at the Pro Bowl in Orlando, Kelce endorsed Sirianni’s value as a head coach on the New Heights Podcast via Eliot Shorr Parks.

“(Sirianni) coach things up in team meetings and hold people accountable better than pretty much any coach I’ve been around…Nick has a lot to bring of value as head coach and the organizational leadership he provides for the team”

Sirianni is 34-17 in his first three seasons, with three postseason appearances, a 2-3 record in the playoffs and a Super Bowl appearance.

Sirianni fired offensive coordinator Brian Johnson and defensive coordinator Sean Desai, replacing them with Kellen Moore and Vic Fangio.
