Cardinals 24, Steelers 10: James Conner, Trey McBride star in 1st road win

The Cardinals shocked the Steelers 24-10 for their first road win of the season behind James Conner’s 105 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

The Arizona Cardinals picked up their first road win of the year on Sunday, defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers 24-10.

They scored 24 straight points, never turning the ball over, while the defense forced a turnover on downs at the goalline, had a fumble recovery, and the Steelers missed a field goal.

Running back James Conner had 105 yards and two touchdowns in his return to Pittsburgh.

The game was delayed twice because of weather.

It was the Cardinals’ first road win since Week 10 of last season. They improved to 3-10 while dropping the Steelers to 7-5.

Steelers QB Kenny Pickett exits game vs. Cardinals with ankle injury

Pickett had 70 passing yards before leaving the game in a 3-3 tie in the second quarter against the Cardinals.

The Pittsburgh Steelers saw starting quarterback Kenny Pickett head to the locker room in the first half of their game against the Arizona Cardinals. He reinjured his right ankle.

Tied 3-3 in the second quarter, the Steelers were threatening to score. Pickett scrambled to the one-yard line on third down, getting tackled by Jonathan Ledbetter.

Pickett had his right ankle already wrapped. He was dealing with it all week, although he did not miss any practice time.

He came out, the Steelers were stopped at the one on fourth down and he was taken to the locker room.

The Steelers announced Pickett was questionable to return but the television broadcast said he was doubtful. He was ruled out for the rest of the game at halftime.

Before leaving the game, Pickett completed 7-of-10 passes for 70 yards.

Cardinals RB Emari Demercado injured in 1st half

A big hit from Steelers LB Elandon Robert sent Demercado to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion and a neck injury.

The Arizona Cardinals suffered an injury to the offense in the first half of their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Rookie running back Emari Demercado exited the game to be evaluated for a concussion and a neck injury.

On the Cardinals’ second drive of the game, on third down, Kyler Murray threw a pass to Demercado. It was beyond his reach and Steelers linebacker Elandon Roberts hit him high and hard.

He was penalized for the play and Demercado stayed on the ground. He was later taken to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion and neck injuries.

It was announced he was questionable to return.

Steelers inactives: Starting NT Montravius Adams out with ankle injury

Montravius Adams was out again in Week 13 while safety Minkah Fitzpatrick returned to the lineup.

The Pittsburgh Steelers only had one player listed with a game designation on their final injury report. That player, starting nose tackle Montravius Adams, who was questionable with an ankle injury, was on the Steelers’ inactive list released 90 minutes before kickoff of their Week 13 home game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Adams had the ankle injury all week but had a setback Friday, going from a full participant to limited in practice. He would not suit up against Arizona.

Adams has not played for the last month. He has started all eight games he played this season and has 21 tackles and a forced fumble, anchoring the middle of the defensive interior. Keeanu Benton is listed behind Adams on their depth chart.

These are the players on Pittsburgh’s Week 13 inactive list:

Pittsburgh Steelers Week 13 inactive list

  • QB Mason Rudolph (3rd QB)
  • CB Darius Rush
  • RB Anthony McFarland
  • ILB Blake Martinez
  • DT Montravius Adams
  • T Dylan Cook

Everyone else on the list was a healthy scratch. Rudolph is eligible to play under the league’s new emergency quarterback rule, should starter Kenny Pickett and backup Mitch Trubisky both get injured during the game.

Cardinals inactives: Marquise Brown, Trey McBride active vs. Steelers

Despite being questionable for the game, Marquise Brown, Trey McBride, Kevin Strong and Jalen Thompson were all active to play in Week 13.

The Arizona Cardinals entred the weekend with a fairly long list of players listed as questionable for their Week 13 road game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Perhaps the two most important ones, receiver Marquise Brown and tight end Trey McBride, the team’s top two pass catchers in terms of yards and catches, will play.

This was previously reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. They were not included on the Cardinals’ inactive list, released 90 minutes before kickoff.

Who was activated?

Arizona Cardinals Week 13 inactive list

  • WR Zach Pascal
  • WR Michael Wilson
  • CB Starling Thomas
  • CB Antonio Hamilton
  • OL Dennis Daley
  • TE Blake Whiteheart

Pascal did not make the trip with the team as he was present for the birth of his first child. Wilson, Thomas and Hamilton were ruled out with injuries.

Wilson has missed three of the last four games with a shoulder injury. Hamilton missed for the second straight week and Thomas missed after getting hurt in last week’s loss to the Rams.

Daley and Whiteheart were healthy scratches. It would appear that Carter O’Donnell will start again at left guard, although he split time last week with Trystan Colon.

With Pascal and Wilson out, expect the Cardinals’ top three wideouts to be Brown, Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch.

Receiver Dan Chisema, signed to the roster from the practice squad on Saturday, could see a few snaps but has played almost exclusively on special teams in his 27 career games played.

With Hamilton and Thomas out, rookies Garrett Wilson and Kei’Trel Clark will start at cornerback with either Marco Wilson getting back into the rotation or Divaad Wilson, elevated from the practice squad for the second straight week, getting snaps for the second straight week.

Defensive lineman Kevin Strong, questionable with a knee injury on the final injury report, returns to the lineup after missing last week’s game.

Safety Jalen Thompson, also questionable for the game because of a rib injury, will suit up and start.

POLL: Who wins in Week 13 – Cardinals or Steelers?

Do you think the Cardinals can get the upset win over the Steelers on the road? Vote in the poll!

The Arizona Cardinals face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13 on the road. They are 2-10 and have lost two in a row. They have looked progressively worse in each of the three games since quarterback Kyler Murray’s return.

They will not have rookie receiver Michael Wilson. They will not have cornerbacks Antonio Hamilton or Starling Thomas.

The Steelers are healthy and get safety Minkah Fitzpatrick back after he missed a month.

The Steelers have a top-five scoring defense but teams have moved the ball against them. The Cardinals have been awful on the road, averaging only a little more than 11 points per game and never scoring more than 16.

The Steelers offense, after firing OC Matt Canada, put up more than 400 yards of offense for the first time since 2021. They still only scored 16 in a 16-10 win over the Bengals.

So who will win this game in Week 13? Can the Cardinals get an upset win or will they continue their road woes this season?
