WATCH: Jordan Addison makes spectacular effort to extend halftime lead

Jordan Addison rips the ball away from San Francisco’s Charvarius Ward to extend Minnesota’s first-half lead.

Jordan Addison is showing the world why he was a first-round wide receiver last April. After losing the first struggle for the football on the opening drive that ended in a Charvarius Ward interception, Addison returned the favor in a major way.

Cousins put the ball on the money for Charvarius Ward to get his second interception of the game. Instead, Addison pulls the ball away from Ward’s waiting arms, leaves him clueless on the field, and goes 60 yards to extend the Minnesota lead to 16-7.

This Vikings offense is firing on all cylinders and Kevin O’Connell is not letting up in this pivotal prime-time matchup.

This game is starting to become a statement that this Minnesota team is not letting their foot off the gas on the 2023 season.

The play of Addison, Cam Akers and T.J. Hockenson highlights this amazing performance in prime-time.

Seahawks Week 7 inactives: DK Metcalf, and 5 others ruled OUT

Week 7 inactives: DK Metcalf, and 5 others ruled OUT

This isn’t exactly news the 12th Man wants to hear. The Seattle Seahawks are under two hours away from kicking off against the Arizona Cardinals, but they will have to do so without star wide receiver DK Metcalf.

Unfortunately, they’ll also have to do it without two starting offensive linemen and their primary backup running back. Despite a clean injury report on Friday, the gametime decisions did not go the way the Seahawks obviously wanted them to go.

As for the Cardinals, they will be without two linemen themselves and some secondary help. The full inactives are below:

Seahawks Inactives:

  • LB Devin Bush
  • WR DK Metcalf
  • CB Artie Burns
  • RB Zach Charbonnet
  • G Phil Haynes
  • C Evan Brown
  • T Raiqwon O’Neal

Cardinals Inactives

  • WR Zach Pascal
  • S Qwuantrezz Knight
  • LB Jesse Luketa
  • CB Antonio Hamilton
  • S Jalen Thompson
  • OL Carter O’Donnell

WATCH D.J. Wonnum scoops and scores to help Minnesota take lead

The Vikings finally had a fumble bounce their way

One defensive touchdown deserves another. D.J. Wonnum’s scoop and score give the Minnesota Vikings the 14-13 lead in the late minutes of the third quarter.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young dropped back and scanned the field, not realizing that Brian Flores had sent yet another of his patented blitzes at him. By the time Young saw the 12-year veteran Harrison Smith in his face, it was too late. Smith delivered a massive hit to Young and this Carolina Panthers offense as the ball was jarred loose. Wonnum opportunistically scooped the ball with a convoy of Vikings to help escort him to the 51-yard score.

Young has been having a pretty good game up until this point, he’s gone 16-for-21 for 136 yards and has been decisive with his throws and pocket movements. However, the defense of the Vikings has made it difficult on the rookie. Hopefully, they can keep that same success.

WATCH Justin Jefferson gets Vikings on the board early vs. Panthers

Justin Jefferson did a great job getting open for Kirk Cousins

After an abysmal interception by Kirk Cousins to start the day, the Minnesota Vikings offense finally finds the end zone. Justin Jefferson beats his man and scores the first points for the Vikings as they take on the Carolina Panthers.

Jefferson has been the main target for Cousins, who has been having a rough start to the day. Jefferson has 37 yards on four receptions and that touchdown as the Vikings trim the early ten-point lead to three.

The acquisition of Cam Akers has shown early dividends as the Vikings run game has complemented the pass well, running at 5.5 yards per carry. O’Connell’s strategy of establishing the run seems to be working and is allowing for the offense to open up.

Cousins also showed a little creativity, getting out of the pocket and finding Jefferson on a scramble drill. Jefferson did a great job to sit down and wait for Cousins to find him.

Seahawks Week 4 injury report: 10 players DNP

The Seahawks are hurting… literally

The Seattle Seahawks are set to take on the New York Giants on Monday Night Football for their Week 4 showdown. Unfortunately, it is another long list when it comes to the injury report.

The Seahawks are hurting, literally, during the infancy of this NFL season. Plenty of key contributors are either missing time or dealing with considerable injuries. Hopefully this is something the team is able to work through as the year progresses.

But for now, here is Thursday’s injury report:

Seahawks to wear white jerseys at home for the first time in team history

Seattle was the last team in the NFL to have never worn their white jerseys at home

Ten years ago, the Seattle Seahawks made franchise history when they won their first ever Super Bowl. On Sunday, they will be making history again… albeit of a different variety.

On Thursday afternoon, the Seahawks announced their uniform combo for Sunday’s game, and it’s a franchise first: white jersey and blue pants, in honor of the uniforms the 2013 team wore as they won Super Bowl XLVIII over the Denver Broncos.

Not only is this the first time the Seahawks will be wearing this combination at home, it’s the first time ever for Seattle to wear a white jersey at home, regardless of the current style. Interestingly enough, the Seahawks were actually the last team in the NFL to have never donned their white threads at home. When Sunday rolls around, all 32 teams will have done it.

Many consider this to be one of the stronger – if not strongest – uniform combinations Seattle has to offer. The Seahawks wore them last week, and enjoy a very respectable 25-19 record. Behind only the regular all-blue home uniforms, 25 wins is the second most wins of any Seattle uniform combo.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll turns 72 years old today

Happy Birthday, Coach!

A very special congratulations is in order for Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, as he officially turns 72 years old today.

Although he is easily the oldest head coach in the NFL, he sure does not act his age. Carroll’s exuberance and contagious energy is unrivaled. As many coaches his age appear to be ready to leave the profession, Carroll still looks like he surfs to work.

Carroll has accomplished plenty during his storied NFL career, but his legacy in the league is defined by the incredible success with Seattle. Carroll completely revived a Seahawks franchise mired in mediocrity at best, and at worst… Jim Mora Jr. His 161 career wins are tied with fellow Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren for 17th most in NFL history.

But perhaps one of his greatest accomplishments is the fact he is one of only three head coaches to have won both a Super Bowl and College National Championship.

Here’s to you, Coach Carroll. Hoping you have a memorable birthday, and can keep adding to your legacy.

Seahawks Week 2 injury report: Charles Cross DNP for 2nd straight day

Things looking doubtful for LT Charles Cross

The Seattle Seahawks completed their second practice of the week as the prepare for the Detroit Lions. Unfortunately, it looks like they may have to take on the Lions without either tackle.

Right tackle Abe Lucas was placed on injured reserve, and left tackle Charles Cross was out a second-straight practice. Nothing has been ruled in regards to Cross, but this isn’t a good sign.

Positive signs trend for Jamal Adams, who did practice again. Below is the full injury report:

Seahawks signing veteran LT Jason Peters

Obviously this is not a great sign for Cross or Lucas, but if there needs to be a backup plan Seattle would be hard pressed to find a better one than Jason Peters.

The Seattle Seahawks suffered injuries to both their starting tackles, Charles Cross and Abe Lucas. While initial reports were positive from head coach Pete Carroll on Sunday following their Week 1 loss, it seems there are still lingering concerns for the two.

Apparently concerned enough to be bringing in a 41-year old veteran to the team. Although, it’s not just any veteran, it’s future Hall of Famer Jason Peters. It was announced Tuesday morning the member of the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the 2010’s would be signing with the Seattle Seahawks.

Peters has forged a remarkable NFL career during his now 20 years in the league. Originally an undrafted rookie with the Buffalo Bills in 2004, Peters spent the bulk of his prime with the Philadelphia Eagles. In his time with the Eagles, Peters helped deliver the first and only Lombardi Trophy to the City of Brotherly Love.

After two brief stints with the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys, it seems Peters is still wanting to show he has some gas left in the tank. Obviously this is not a great sign for Cross or Lucas, but if there needs to be a backup plan Seattle would be hard pressed to find a better one than Jason Peters.

Pete Carroll shares injury updates on Charles Cross, Abe Lucas and Tyler Lockett

The Seahawks seemed to have missed three major bullets

The Seattle Seahawks had a rather ugly showing in Week 1, getting blown out at home to the rival Los Angeles Rams. Practically everything collapsed for them in the second half, as they were outscored 23-0. It was about as bad as it could get for the Seahawks.

Almost.

Midway through the third quarter, starting tackles Abe Lucas and Charles Cross left the game. Both were given “questionable” designations, but neither returned. Cross was even carted back to the locker room. Shortly, wide receiver Tyler Lockett was being evaluated for a concussion pursuant to the NFL’s policy.

Fortunately for Seattle, it appears three major bullets were dodged. At least for now. According to head coach Pete Carroll, Cross has a sprained big toe, but mentioned the x-rays did not look bad.

As for Lucas, Carroll mentioned his knee “acted up,” but made sure to mention he does not have a knee injury. However, Carroll did follow it up saying it was the same knee that caused the Seahawks to rest him during training camp.

The last bit of good news was a quick comment saying Lockett is fine. He was evaluated for a concussion, but nothing came from it.
