Vikings legend Jared Allen named to Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025

The result of voting this year has Jared Allen set to be enshrined in Canton, Ohio as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

After coming so close for so many years, Jared Allen can finally jump on his horse and ride to Canton. The Vikings legendary pass rusher finally heard his name on Thursday be officially tied to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The result of voting this year has Jared Allen set to be enshrined in Canton, Ohio as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Allen played a total of 12 years in the NFL, six of which came with the Minnesota Vikings. Those six years proved to be his most fruitful in his career as he would accumulate a whopping 85.5 of his 136 sacks in his career. While a member of the Vikings, Allen woudl also be named to three All-Pro teams and be a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year twice.

Allen’s best year came in 2011 when he racked up 22 sacks coming within one sack of breaking Michael Strahan’s all-time record for a season.

Jared Allen will be one of four modern members inducted into the Hall of Fame. Alongside him will be Antonio Gates, Sterling Sharpe, and Eric Allen.

They will be inducted on August 2, 2025 at the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony in Canton, Ohio.

Pro Bowlers discuss Seahawks DL Leonard Williams’ pick-six

Pro Bowlers discuss Seahawks DL Leonard Williams’ pick-six

Perhaps the single greatest play from the 2024 Seattle Seahawks was defensive lineman Leonard Williams’ pick-six against the New York Jets. Seattle was trailing 21-7 and the Jets were knocking on the door of blowing them out, putting them in a hole too deep to climb out from. But then came Williams, heroically snagging the ball away from Aaron Rodgers and getting the Seahawks back on the board.

From there, Seattle’s defense pitched a shutout against the Jets.

Side note, forgive the typo in the tweet. It was actually a 92-yard pick-six, but at the time it was reported it was 91. The 92 was an amendment later.

Of course, with such a massive play, especially coming from a lineman, it was bound to turn a few heads… especially from fellow Pro Bowlers. In Orlando, several Pro Bowlers – including teammates Devon Witherspoon and Jaxon Smith-Njigba – were asked just how fast do they think Big Cat got on his impressive run. From what you will see below, he is held in high regard among his peers.

Mike Macdonald has been the Seahawks HC for officially one year

Mike Macdonald has been the Seahawks HC for officially one year

Today officially marks one full year since Mike Macdonald officially became the ninth head coach of the Seattle Seahawks franchise. It is wild to think it’s already been a full calendar year, and exciting to think what the future may hold.

Winding the clock back one year, the Seahawks were doing something they had not done in 14 seasons: seeking a new head coach. Seattle had parted ways with Pete Carroll, and were looking for a fresh voice to lead the team. Fortunately, they landed arguably the top coaching candidate that year with Macdonald, who was in high demand following his successful run as the defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.

A lot has happened in just a year for Macdonald. He won his first 10 games of his coaching career, he helped vastly improve Seattle’s struggling defense, he finally beat the 49ers, and he became a father.

Going into year two of his regime, Macdonald will face considerable new challenges. He has uncertainty at quarterback, he will need to break in a new offensive coordinator, and must find a way back to the playoffs. Not to mention winning the NFC West, which slipped out of Seattle’s grasp not once but twice last year.

Still, it is hard to argue the Seahawks are on anything but the right path with Macdonald at the helm. There is still a lot of promise with this squad, especially on defense and with the skill position players they have. This is not a team priming for a rebuild, but one that must find a way to take the next step forward. It won’t be easy, but I have a feeling Macdonald is up to the task.

Bobby Wagner leads Commanders in tackles, as PHI leads 27-15 in first half

Bobby Wagner leads Commanders in tackles, as PHI leads 27-15 in first half

Former Seattle Seahawk legend Bobby Wagner is competing to get back to his third Super Bowl, but the odds seem to be against him. We are in halftime between the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game, and Philly leads 27-12 at the intermission.

Wagner himself is doing all he can to help Washington’s struggling defense, which has had little effect against the Eagles’ dynamic offense. So far, the future Hall of Famer is leading the Commanders’ defense with five total tackles. Still, Wagner’s efforts have yielded little results, especially when it comes to Philadelphia running back Saquon Barkley.

Barkley has run rampant over Washington, already at 85 yards on nine carries and two touchdowns… including one on his very first carry, and Philly’s first play from scrimmage. Unfortunately, Wagner could have been in a clear position to make a play on Barkley, but he got tangled up with his own defensive linemen.

The Eagles will get the ball to start the third quarter. Head coach Dan Quinn – Seattle’s former defensive coordinator during their own Super Bowl years – will need to come up with incredible half time adjustments to get back in the big game.

Las Vegas Raiders hire Pete Carroll to be their next head coach

Las Vegas Raiders hire Pete Carroll to be their next head coach

After a year away from the game, former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is officially returning to football. On Friday morning it was announced the Las Vegas Raiders were signing the Seahawks legend to be their next head coach.

Carroll had interviewed with the Chicago Bears and Las Vegas Raiders, but word broke on Thursday he had spoken with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. However, it is evident the meeting with Jones was not going to produce anything, as Carroll has now been named head coach for the Raiders. Perhaps it was a leverage play from Carroll to secure the Raiders job.

The Raiders will now be Carroll’s fourth team coached in the NFL, and his return to the AFC. Carroll was once the head coach for the New York Jets for one season in 1994, then eventually became the New England Patriots’ top man from 1997-1999.

Of course, Carroll’s return to football… specifically the AFC West… means something else: the renewal of his rivalry with Jim Harbaugh, who is currently the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers.

Carroll joins a stacked-to-the-brim division. Obviously the biggest hurdle being the Kansas City Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes and head coach Andy Reid. But he will also have to contend with the aforementioned Harbaugh-led Chargers, as well as a Denver Broncos team on the rise with Sean Payton and Bo Nix. The common thread for all his opponents? They all clearly have a franchise quarterback. Carroll’s first task will be to find his legitimate starting quarterback, and will have to do so fast.

One last thing… the irony of Carroll joining the Raiders is the fact Tom Brady, a partial owner of the Raiders, is now technically his boss. Carroll and Brady faced off three times when both were active in the league, including (information about the Super Bowl redacted), and winning two of the meetings. Now, the former foes are united in Las Vegas.

Alleged culprit of crash that killed Khyree Jackson indicted on 13 counts

The woman alleged to have been the culprit of a July crash that killed Vikings CB Khyree Jackson and two others was indicted on 13 counts.

The 2024 season was somewhat of a magical one for the Minnesota Vikings, but no one will forget the horrific note the season started on. Before the pre-season even began, the Vikings got news no one ever expects or is prepared to hear. Their fourth-round draft pick, cornerback Khyree Jackson, had been killed in a car accident.

Today, word has come down from Prince George’s County state attorney Aisha Braveboy that a grand jury has returned an indictment on 13 counts against Cori Clingman, the woman allegedly behind the wheel of the vehicle that caused the crash killing Jackson and two others. The charges include vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence.

Jackson was chosen by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Oregon, and figured to play a prominent role on the team in his rookie season. Jackson figured to slot into the rotation for the team at cornerback and play a vital role at a position that was seen as a weakness on the team heading into the season. Jackson may have even earned a starting role opposite eventual Pro Bowler Byron Murphy Jr. after a strong showing in OTAs.

Unfortunately, Jackson never got that chance due to the late-night crash that killed him along with two of his former high school teammates, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton, Jr. No other individuals were harmed in the wreck. If found guilty, Clingman could face up to 30 years in prison for their deaths.

Breaking: Jaguars named Bucs OC Liam Coen new head coach

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported early Friday morning that Liam Coen was expected to be named the head coach of the Jaguars.

After a back-and-forth usually reserved for Wimbledon, the Bucs now know where things are with their now-former offensive coordinator, Liam Coen. After agreeing to become the highest-paid assistant in the NFL, the Bucs offensive play-caller is heading north to Jacksonville to become the head coach of the Jaguars.

Greg Auman of Fox Sports reported late Thursday night that Liam Coen was expected to be named the Jaguars’ head coach.

For the Jaguars, hope and optimism are now at an all-time high after they fired their longtime general manager, with an approval rating that was less ideal, Trent Baalke. Some people presumed that after being in running for the job earlier this week that Baalke staying deterred Coen from taking the job, thus agreeing to the new deal with the Bucs.

Once the Jaguars fired Baalke, the talks resumed and heated back up.

Albert Breer of MMQB pointed out that Coen’s deal to become the highest-paid assistant coach in the NFL was contingent on his not talking to the Jaguars. Once Coen crossed that line, he was seemingly all in on taking the job.

Now, the Bucs will be looking for a new offensive coordinator. It is worth mentioning that whoever they end up hiring will be Baker Mayfield’s seventh offensive coordinator in as many years in the NFL.

Dallas Cowboys are interested in former Seahawks HC Pete Carroll

Dallas Cowboys are interested in former Seahawks HC Pete Carroll

In a stunning bit of news from Thursday, reports are out there that the Dallas Cowboys are interested in former Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll. Not only are they interested in Carroll, but the Fort Worth Star-Telegram is reporting the Super Bowl winning head coach has already met with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

This comes after other reporting stating Dallas was closing in on a deal with Brian Schottenheimer to be their next head coach. The irony of course being Schottenheimer was once Carroll’s offensive coordinator in Seattle from 2018-2020.

Carroll is clearly on the hunt for a new job in the NFL. He has already interviewed with the Chicago Bears, who eventually chose Ben Johnson from the Detroit Lions. He has also interviewed with the Las Vegas Raiders. But an opportunity to get back into the league with the Dallas Cowboys? Now that would be one way for Jerry Jones to make a splash… and we all know how much Jones craves constant media attention on his Cowboys.

However, it is precisely the Jerry Jones factor that could prevent Carroll from becoming Dallas’ next head coach. It is well documented and exhibited how much control Jones wields in the Cowboys organization, as it eventually led to the split between the team and the legendary Jimmy Johnson – who is in a rare club with Carroll as one of the only three head coaches (along with Barry Switzer) to win a college national championship and a Super Bowl. \

Carroll had ultimate say in Seattle when it came to personnel, even outranking general manager John Schneider. It is, quite frankly, impossible to imagine he would have similar power in Dallas with Jones looming over his shoulder.

Still, the allure of returning to the league is a powerful driving force, and Carroll brings stability and culture-resetting power. Perhaps this might be a situation where one or both men decide to relinquish a little power themselves in order to build a legitimate contender.

Breaking: Bucs’ Liam Coen meeting with Jaguars to discuss HC opening

After agreeing to an extension with the Bucs, Liam Coen is now reported to be in Jacksonville discussing their head coaching vacancy.

When it snowed in Jacksonville and other parts of the South this past week, everyone assumed that was the craziest things would get for fans of the franchise. As it turns out, things were just getting started as it pertains to the NFL in the state of Florida.

After agreeing to an extension with the Bucs, Liam Coen is reportedly in Jacksonville, discussing the Jaguars head coaching vacancy. Ian Rapoport of NFL Media first reported the news of Coen’s visit late Thursday.

The Jaguars were discussing their opening with Coen last week before talks stalled. There was speculation that the team retaining general manager Trent Baalke turned Coen off from the idea of taking the Jaguars job, which made everyone curious about what the ramifications would be when the Jaguars fired their general manager on Wednesday.

It appears Coen has not been responding to the Bucs after agreeing to an extension on Wednesday. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that while no team member has heard from him, Coen did inform Bucs head coach Todd Bowles of his intention to interview with the Jaguars.

If you thought things were hard to follow, here comes the curveball while you are down in the count 0-2.

The Las Vegas Raiders were reportedly agreed with Bucs assistant general manager John Spytek to become their general manager. Despite those reports, the team has not finalized the deal, and there is speculation that Spytek could follow Coen to Jacksonville if they close a deal.

Until the Raiders announce Spytek, and Coen is announced to be extended by the Bucs, this whole thing is just getting started.

On this date: Seahawks win the NFC for the first time

On this date: Seahawks win the NFC for the first time

Today is a special day in Seattle Seahawks history. On this day, 19 years ago, the Seahawks claimed their first NFC Championship, and punched their ticket to their first Super Bowl ever. Finally, after 30 seasons of existence, the Seahawks reaped the rewards of conference supremacy and had an opportunity to play for a Lombardi.

The 2005 campaign will always be a special one, as Seattle won 13 games for the first time ever and went into the playoffs as the No. 1 seed. The road to Super Bowl XL went through the Emerald City, and the 12th Man showed the world what a fortress Lumen Field (called Qwest Field in those days!) could be.

As the recently-crowned American Idol winner Carrie Underwood finished her rendition of the National Anthem, it was on between the Seahawks and the Carolina Panthers. Carolina was attempting to earn their second conference championship in three season, but their efforts were quickly extinguished in Seattle.

The Seahawks built up a 20-7 halftime lead behind the arm of Matt Hasselbeck and the legs of league MVP Shaun Alexander. Eventually, the game was put out of reach once Alexander had his second rushing touchdown to give Seattle a 34-7 lead late in the fourth. A garbage time touchdown from the Panthers did little to ease the pain of a blowout loss, as the Seahawks ended with their 34-14 victory.

Hasselbeck was an efficient 20-of-28 for 219 yards and two touchdowns, while Alexander bullied his way to 132 rushing yards and two touchdowns as well.

Sadly, the Seahawks would have to wait eight more years to win their first Lombardi, as highly suspect officiating cost them in Super Bowl XL. Still, this was a building block the franchise needed and finally achieved. There are still teams in this league who remain searching for their first conference championship, and on this day 19 years ago, the Seahawks triumphantly removed themselves from that list.
