Seahawks elevate S Ty Okada and QB Jaren Hall from practice squad

Seahawks elevate S Ty Okada and QB Jaren Hall from practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks have made a pair of roster moves on Saturday prior to their Week 13 game against the New York Jets. The Seahawks elevated safety Ty Okada and quarterback Jaren Hall from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster.

Okada has made the move from practice squad to the active roster a few times this year, being active in both games against San Francisco and Atlanta. So far this year he has logged three total tackles. Okada knows the system and provides depth at safety.

Meanwhile, elevating Jaren Hall is a little curious. Hall was signed to the Seahawks at the beginning of September after spending his rookie season with the Minnesota Vikings. Hall played in three games, started two, and won one of them. However, the one win was one where he was knocked out of the game with a concussion, did not return, but the Vikings still held on for a victory. This will be the first time the Seahawks have rolled with three quarterbacks for a game day.

The Seahawks and Jets will kick off Sunday at 10:00 am Pacific time on FOX.

Vikings place linebacker on IR, sign veteran replacement

The team announced that Ivan Pace Jr. suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday and is being placed on Injured Reserve.

The Minnesota Vikings defense has been relatively healthy in 2024. On Sunday against the Bears, however, it suffered its first major injury.

The team announced that Ivan Pace Jr. suffered a hamstring injury on Sunday and is being placed on Injured Reserve. He will miss the next four games for the team and in a corresponding move the team removed rookie edge rusher Gabriel Murphy from injured reserve.

While Murphy gives Brian Flores another edge piece, the team is signing a veteran linebacker to replace Pace Jr. on the roster. The team is signing Jamin Davis to the 53-man roster after playing five games for the Washington Commanders in 2024.

Davis has played in 50 career games for the Commanders and totaled 282 tackles and seven sacks in those games. Davis also boasts career PFF grades of 67.5 in run defense, 69.4 in tackling, and 56.9 in pass coverage assignments.

Davis and Murphy are expected to be available to play in Week 13 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Seahawks beat the Cardinals, win 16-6 and move into 1st place

Seahawks beat the Cardinals, win 16-6 and move into 1st place

The Seattle Seahawks have officially reclaimed first place in the NFC West, at least temporarily, thanks to their 16-6 victory over the Arizona Cardinals. Sunday marked the first win at Lumen Field for the Seahawks since Week 3 against the Miami Dolphins… which was on September 22nd.

Seattle extends their winning streak against Arizona to now six-consecutive games, including the last three at Lumen Field. Speaking of which, including Sunday’s game, it was another example of a low scoring defensive slugfest between these teams in the Emerald City. The last three home games against the Cards have gone as such…

  • 2024: Seahawks win 16-6
  • 2023: Seahawks win 20-10
  • 2022: Seahawks win 19-9

Something about these teams playing in Seattle forces them both down into the mud, scrapping for points at any cost. It was more of the same in Week 12, as points were truly difficult to come by.

After a first half of 7-3 football, the Seahawks managed to blow the lead open with Coby Bryant’s 69-yard pick-6 to make it a 13-3 lead. While Jason Myers did miss the PAT (thanks to Devon Witherspoon’s personal foul penalty backing him up) the 10-point lead proved to be insurmountable.

Arizona did manage to make it a one-score game again with a field goal, after being stalled in the red zone. It was a drive started by a Geno Smith interception (his 12th of the year) in the end zone. But Seattle responded accordingly, as Smith found redemption leading a 13-play, 59 yard drive capped off by a 50-yard field goal by Jason Myers. It officially put the game out of reach.

The Cardinals last gasp ended as a field goal attempt with 15 seconds sailed wide left, and the Hawks kneeled it out.

Now, Seattle moves into first place. If they want to remain as such, they will hopefully get a little help from the Philadelphia Eagles, who are playing the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football shortly. If the Eagles win, and the Rams fall below .500 again, Seattle’s status on top will be cemented.

Well, at least for a week.

Watch: Seahawks S Coby Bryant has a 69-yard pick-6

Watch: Seahawks S Coby Bryant has a 69-yard pick-6

The youngsters are taking over the game for the Seattle Seahawks in their Week 12 showdown against the Arizona Cardinals. Seattle found the end zone for the first time on Sunday thanks to Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s massive first half. The second touchdown came courtesy of the defense.

Facing a 4th-and-1, the Cardinals decided to go for it. The ball was snapped, and the pass fell incomplete… only the play was blown dead at the last second, because right before the snap, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald called a time out. A sense of slight nervousness fell over the crowd as folks wondered if perhaps Macdonald made the right decision.

Turns out he did, and his safety Coby Bryant helped prove it. On 4th down, Kyler Murray’s pass sailed right over the head over wide open receiver Michael Wilson and into the waiting arms of Bryant.

Unfortunately, Devon Witherspoon was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the 15-yard penalty was enforced on the PAT. The extra yardage tacked on proved to be a detriment, as the usually sure-footed Jason Myers did miss the PAT attempt. The score remained 13-3 in favor of Seattle.

Still, the Seahawks defense has sucked the life out of Arizona thus far. At the moment, it is still the third quarter and the Seahawks lead by 10.

First half recap: Seahawks lead the Cardinals 7-3

First half recap: Seahawks lead the Cardinals 7-3

Another week and yet another slow start for the Seattle Seahawks and their offense. Week 12 between the Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals has become quite a defensive struggle, which is what the last two games between these teams at Lumen Field were.

The game started with six-consecutive drives ending in punts. Arizona struck first blood on their fifth possession of the day, with a 35-yard field goal. Seattle responded with another punt of their own. However, the defense, which has been playing outstanding today, held their own once more.

The Seahawks offense finally got things cooking right before the two minute warning, when Geno Smith hit Jaxon Smith-Njigba for a 46-yard reception to set Seattle up at Arizona’s 3-yard line. Two plays later, Smith and JSN sealed the deal with a touchdown.

The Cardinals, in their final possession of the half could not do much with limited time, and punted once more. In this game, there have been nine combined punts. The only time

First half stats:

  • Total Yards: Seahawks over Cardinals 145-110
    • Rushing: Cardinals over Seahawks 28-20

  • Total plays: Seahawks over Cardinals 32-27
  • First downs: Seahawks over Cardinals 8-5

Geno Smith has completed 11-of-16 passes for 150 yards. JSN leads the team with 4 receptions for 62 yards and a touchdown. Kenneth Walker has 20 yards on eight carries, unable to get much going. Defensively, the Seahawks have sacked Kyler Murray three times. Unfortunately, Arizona has gotten to Smith four times themselves.

The Seahawks will get the ball to start the second half. Be sure to follow @TheSeahawksWire and @KoleMusgrove23 for more highlights, analysis and updates.

Cam Robinson injury vs. Bears: Latest news on Vikings LT

The Minnesota Vikings’ offense took a blow on Sunday against the Chicago Bears as left tackle Cam Robinson suffered a foot injury early.

(This story was updated to provide up-to-date information on the player’s injury.)

The Minnesota Vikings are playing well on Sunday against the Chicago Bears despite a rash of bad luck early in the game. Running back Aaron Jones had a fumble deep in Bears territory early. Officials missed a late hit out-of-bounds penalty that would have benefitted the Vikings and called a questionable holding penalty that hurt them.

Worse, the Vikings have had to endure a couple of important players going down with injury concerns. After the fumble, Vikings’ linebacker Ivan Pace was injured and is questionable to return with a hamstring injury. Shortly after the Pace injury, the Vikings lost another key contributor to the team, this time on the offensive side.

Cam Robinson injury update

After losing Pace, the Vikings offense suffered a blow of their own, as left tackle Cam Robinson went down in the first quarter. It was unclear at the time exactly what the injury was, though the training staff appeared to be looking at the left tackle’s leg. Vikings beat reporter for The Athletic Alec Lewis reports that Robinson has been ruled out for the second half of the game against the Bears.

How long will Robinson be out?

Robinson was checked out on the sidelines after the injury and then taken back to the locker room for further examination, which isn’t a great sign. However, the fact that it’s being designated as a foot injury and not a knee should be seen as a positive sign.

Vikings Wire will provide any updates on Robinson’s long-term status as they become available.

Vikings offensive line depth chart

With Robinson out, the Vikings have turned to swing tackle David Quessenberry to fill in at left tackle. Quessenberry has been with the Vikings for the past two seasons, and filled in for previous left tackle Christian Darrisaw when he suffered his knee injury a month ago.

Ivan Pace injury vs. Bears: Latest news on Vikings LB

Minnesota Vikings linebacker Ivan Pace, Jr. was injured in the first quarter of Sunday’s game vs. the Bears and is questionable to return.

(This story was updated to provide up-to-date information on the player’s injury.)

The Minnesota Vikings have gotten off to a shaky start on Sunday against one of their division rivals, the Chicago Bears. The first quarter was somewhat of a disaster for the Vikings, as running back Aaron Jones fumbled on the Bears’ 2-yard line to kill a drive that could have ended up in an early touchdown.

Things went from bad to worse for the Vikings, as on the ensuing drive, linebacker and last year’s feel-good story Ivan Pace, Jr. was injured. As the Bears were trying to get out of the shadow of their own end zone, they handed the ball off for a short gain. On the ensuing tackle, a pile of players collapsed on Pace, who went down with an apparent leg injury.

Ivan Pace injury update

After Pace went down, trainers came out on the field and examined his leg. Upon replay, it looked like Pace had suffered what could potentially be a significant leg injury. Vikings beat writer for The Athletic Alec Lewis has provided us with an update that Pace Jr. has been ruled out for the remainder of the game against the Bears.

How long will Pace be out?

We’re not going to speculate on any further status at this time, but Vikings Wire will keep you updated with any updates on Pace’s status as they become available.

Vikings linebacker depth chart

With Pace currently out, the Vikings have shifted linebacker Blake Cashman to Pace’s position, with linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill taking over Cashman’s position. The team has also appeared to be using nickelback and all-around defensive chess piece Joshua Metellus more in the wake of Pace’s injury.

Jordan Addison injury vs. Titans: Latest news on Vikings WR

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison left Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter with cramping issues.

The Minnesota Vikings have had somewhat of a bounce-back game on Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Quarterback Sam Darnold has made some big plays with his arm and legs, making several key scrambles to extend plays and keep the Vikings’ offense moving.

That offense has been running more smoothly than we’ve seen in weeks, and one of the key contributors to that has been wide receiver Jordan Addison. Unfortunately for the Vikings, Addison left the game in the fourth quarter with some cramping issues and will likely be out for the rest of the game.

Jordan Addison injury update

It’s unfortunate for the Vikings’ offense to have to operate without one of their key playmakers for the rest of the fourth quarter. According to the CBS broadcast crew, Addison is officially designated as questionable to return with cramps.

How long will Addison be out?

While Addison is being called questionable to return to the game, the Vikings are up 10 with less than 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. The Vikings’ defense has held up well, and gave the ball back to the offense. Minnesota will likely play it safe with Addison and keep him on the sidelines for the rest of the game.

On the positive side, cramps are a temporary issue, and Addison should be fine for next week’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Vikings wide receiver depth chart

With Addison on the sidelines, the Vikings will likely look more toward Jalen Nailor and Brandon Powell. Both receivers have already had their name called several times in the fourth quarter. Nailor just missed a touchdown catch, while Powell made a nice catch over the middle that was initially called incomplete but overturned after a challenge by head coach Kevin O’Connell.

Seahawks C Connor Williams has RETIRED from the NFL

Seahawks C Connor Williams has RETIRED from the NFL

On Friday, the Seattle Seahawks announced center Connor Williams was ruled OUT from Sunday’s week 11 game against the San Francisco 49ers. Williams had missed the entire week of practice, and was ultimately ruled OUT due to a not-injury related: personal reason. At the time we at Seahawks Wire reported this news, it was not known as to what the personal reason was/is.

Well, we have some idea now… after Friday’s practice, head coach Mike Macdonald announced Connor Williams had decided to officially RETIRE from the NFL. According to Macdonald, Williams has his reasons and any possibility to perhaps return later does not seem likely.

The Seahawks signed Williams in early August as a free agent. Originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, Williams became a Miami Dolphin for two seasons until he unfortunately tore his ACL towards the end of the 2023 campaign. Williams was allowed to walk in free agency, and was deciding between the Seahawks and Ravens before ultimately closing the deal with Seattle.

Williams started all nine games for the Seahawks this year, bringing his career start total to 86 out of 92 possible games played in the NFL. While there were times where it appeared Williams had brought stability to the interior of Seattle’s offensive line, he had shockingly begun to regress in his last two games. Specifically, the fact he kept snapping the ball far too high to quarterback Geno Smith, and even stepping on him on a crucial 4th down play on the goal line against the Buffalo Bills.

Coach Macdonald has confirmed sophomore backup center Olu Oluwatimi will start on Sunday.

The NFL is a highly challenging league. Not just physically, in the games… but emotionally and mentally. Football can be a dangerous sport and if your head/heart are not in it, for whatever reason, it can be detrimental to your health. We at Seahawks Wire want to wish Connor Williams a happy retirement in whatever endeavor he chooses after his life in football.
