Raptors vs. Suns: Prediction, point spread, odds, over/under, betting picks (Jan. 6)

Our prediction and best bet for Wednesday’s Raptors vs. Suns game in Phoenix.

The slumping Toronto Raptors play the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday night, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 9 p.m. ET and can be seen on Sportsnet (TOR) / Fox Sports Arizona (PHX).

Without Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol on the roster, the new-look Raptors are 1-5 on the year and “have no swagger,” according to veteran guard Kyle Lowry. The Suns are looking to rebound from a loss to the Clippers on Sunday, but are 5-2 to start the season and sit second in the Western Conference.

Both teams enter Wednesday’s game relatively healthy. Patrick McCaw is out for the Raptors, and Abdel Nader and Jalen Smith are out for the Suns.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Suns -2.5
  • Moneyline: Suns -140 / Raptors +115
  • Over-under: 218.5

Advice and prediction

Oddsmakers continue to sleep on the Suns, who are 3-1 against the spread as a favorite this season, while the Raptors are 1-5 against the spread. I don’t see the Raptors, coming off back-to-back losses, faring well against a stout Suns defense. This line should be bigger. Take Suns -2.5 while you can.

For the total, take under 218.5. With Phoenix playing brilliant defense (first in opponent points per game, third in defensive rating), the Suns have gone over 218.5 once all season, while the Raptors’ offense has proven to be inept so far (106 ppg.).

Prediction: Suns 111, Raptors 97

Thunder vs. Heat: Point spread, betting odds, prediction

See betting odds and point spread for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat game scheduled for Monday night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the Miami Heat and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 6:30 p.m. and can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma.

The Thunder are 2-3 on the season after taking down the Orlando Magic in a team effort. Six players scored double-digits and the group was led by Darius Bazley’s 19 points and 12 boards.

The Heat, meanwhile, have underperformed at 2-3, in part due to Jimmy Butler’s injury suffered in the season opener that cost him two full games and impacted him in others.

How to watch: Thunder vs. Heat

Advice and prediction

Honestly? This point spread isn’t bad for bettors who want to take the Thunder. The Heat are averaging just 103.4 points per game, third-to-last in the NBA, and the Thunder have been solid on defense. Oklahoma City has a shot coming off a win and a pair of lesser performances from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander than we’ve grown accustomed to.

There are two things that give me pause: one is that the Heat have had two days off between games and plenty of time to practice after scoring just 83 their last outing. The other is that Butler should be closer to full health, given that he has had two days off.

I’m taking the under. I mentioned that Miami averages the third-fewest points in the league; Oklahoma City averages the second-fewest. Maybe the Heat are kick-started by Butler’s health and the days off, but I’d bet it’s a relatively low scoring affair.

Because of that, I’m taking the Thunder +8.5 and the under, but neither with a high degree of confidence.

Prediction: Heat 110, Thunder 103

Thunder vs. Pelicans: Point spread, betting odds, prediction

See betting odds and the point spread for the Oklahoma City Thunder and New Orleans Pelicans game on New Year’s Eve.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the New Orleans Pelicans and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. and can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma.

The Thunder are 1-2 on the season after falling to the Orlando Magic. They have been competitive in all three games this year, and missing Al Horford on Tuesday cost them against Orlando. They should get him back in the lineup, though George Hill’s status is unclear after he was ruled out of Tuesday’s game that afternoon due to neck spams.

New Orleans (2-2) is coming off a 25-point loss to the Phoenix Suns in which they trailed by as many as 40 points. In Steven Adams’ return to Oklahoma City, the Pelicans will look to make up for that defeat.

How to watch: Thunder vs. Pelicans

Advice and prediction

I’m never confident in betting against a good team after a whopper of a loss, and if the Pelicans truly are a good team — which I think they are — I’d expect them to come out with extra intensity after the poor showing against the Suns. Oklahoma City has looked better than expected in its first three games, but I don’t love the spread with New Orleans coming in with fire and something to prove.

With that said — the Pelicans’ offense hasn’t been good this year. They’ve only broken 100 points once in four games. They scored 98 against the Miami Heat and San Antonio Spurs before scoring just 86 against the Suns. Oklahoma City’s defense has been strong over its first three games, and with Horford back, it should be better than it was against the Magic.

These odds aren’t great. I think the Pelicans will bounce back and I’d take the over, but I’m not doing it with great gusto.

Prediction: Pelicans 112, Thunder 106

Thunder vs. Magic: Point spread, betting odds, prediction

See betting odds for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Orlando Magic game scheduled for Tuesday night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the Orlando Magic and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. and can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma.

The Thunder are 1-1 on the season and both games have been decided by last-second shots. On Saturday, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit a long 2 with 1.4 seconds left to lift Oklahoma City over the Charlotte Hornets. On Monday, Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell hit a runner with seven seconds left to give Utah a one-point lead, and Gilgeous-Alexander was unable to answer for another win.

The Magic, meanwhile, are one of four 3-0 teams in the league. They had an impressive opening night victory against the Miami Heat and then beat the Washington Wizards in back-to-back games.

How to watch: Thunder vs. Magic

Advice and prediction

In all honesty, this is a game I wouldn’t feel comfortable betting on. The Thunder have impressed in their first two games, beating one playoff hopeful and taking a perennial postseason team to the wire. Meanwhile, the Magic beat the reigning Eastern Conference Champions and another playoff hopeful, though Russell Westbrook did sit out the second game.

Oklahoma City proved me wrong last game by easily covering the spread, so I’ll take them to do the same here. With the defense and 3-point shooting the team has displayed, there’s real reason to think they can give the Magic their first loss of the season.

I’m also taking the over. Oklahoma City put up 109 against the Jazz and the Magic have averaged 121 points per game. That’s a bet I feel better about than whether the Thunder will cover the spread, though as you’re about to see, I’m also predicting they’ll win:

Prediction: Thunder 114, Magic 110

Thunder vs. Jazz: Point spread, betting odds, prediction

See betting odds for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Utah Jazz game scheduled for Monday night.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the Utah Jazz on Monday and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. and can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma.

The Thunder are coming off a last-second win against the Charlotte Hornets. Guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit the game-winning shot after Charlotte overcame a 13-point deficit to tie the game late.

Utah’s last game was a tight loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Trailing by three with four seconds left, the Jazz were called for a five-second violation trying to inbound the ball, which ultimately ended the game.

How to watch: Thunder vs. Hornets

Advice and prediction

The Jazz are a playoff-caliber team coming off a painful loss to the Timberwolves. Oklahoma City looked good in the first game, but it would take a massive effort to defeat Utah.

As long as Rudy Gobert is anchoring the defense, the Jazz will be difficult to score on. The Thunder spaced the floor well against Charlotte, but this will be a different beast. Oklahoma City will need more consistency from its bench in particular if it is to win.

I wouldn’t bet on the Thunder winning or covering the spread. Utah is too good. If I’m betting on the over-under, I would take the under as well; Oklahoma City’s defense looked good in the first game, and the Jazz’s is consistently excellent.

Prediction: Jazz 112, Thunder 98

Thunder vs. Rockets: Point spread, betting odds, prediction

NBA betting odds on the Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Houston Rockets game. Smart decisions will come down to whether James Harden plays.

The Oklahoma City Thunder play the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, moneyline odds and over-under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet on BetMGM.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. and can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma.

News that the NBA is investigating an apparent video of James Harden at a strip club and could potentially suspend him, and reports that multiple Rockets are expected to miss the game due to contact tracing, adds intrigue to Thunder fans for this betting line. If you have time to place it before BetMGM updates its line, a couple bets should be easy to guess.

Oklahoma City guards Theo Maledon and Ty Jerome will both miss the game, head coach Mark Daigneault said Tuesday.

At the time of publication, Harden’s availability had not been clarified. Betting odds could change when that is made public. Check BetMGM for updates.

The lines, courtesy of BetMGM

  • Point spread: Thunder +5.5
  • Money line: Thunder +190 / Rockets -250
  • Over-under: 225.5

Place your legal, online sports bets in CO, IN, MI, NV, NJ, PA, TN and WV at BetMGM.

Advice and prediction

With the chance that Harden, John Wall and other Rockets don’t play, I’m slamming the under. This will be Thunder’s first real game with this new core, and given that Maledon and Jerome will be out, I’m not confident in whoever will be the main ball handler if George Hill and Gilgeous-Alexander are both on the bench at the same time.

If Oklahoma City is still learning how to play together and Wall and Harden are out, I don’t expect the teams to combine for more than 222 points.

Predicting who wins is a harder proximation, as both teams’ rosters look different than last year. However, if Harden and Wall are out, Lu Dort should manage to contain whichever Rockets scorer goes off and the Thunder should be able to win.

Prediction: Thunder 105, Rockets 88 (if Harden and Wall don’t play)
