According to Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer Gerry Dulac, the Pittsburgh Steelers will honor injured Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin on Sunday. The Steelers will have the No. 3 on each 30-yard marker on the field painted blue and red for Hamlin.

Hamlin is currently in the hospital after suffering cardiac arrest on the field after a hit last week. Thankfully, Hamlin appears to be on the road to recovery and everyone in the league is grateful for this.

From a football standpoint, the Steelers are fighting for a spot in the playoffs and the Bills can help. The Steelers must beat the Cleveland Browns but Pittsburgh needs the Bills to beat the New England Patriots as well for the formula to work and get Pittsburgh into the playoffs.

The Bills game last week against the Cincinnati Bengals was postponed last week after Hamlin’s injury. The NFL ended up canceling the game and declaring it a no-contest.

Browns downgrade DE Jadeveon Clowney to OUT vs Steelers

Jadeveon Clowney won’t play vs the Steelers.

Whatever the spat is between the Cleveland Browns and defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, it is benefiting the Pittsburgh Steelers. On Saturday, the Browns announced that Clowney has been downgraded to out for Sunday’s game against the Steelers.

Clowney was sent home from practice on Friday, which was the ending to a tumultuous week. Clowney refused to play on first and second down last week against the Baltimore Ravens. Later in the week, Clowney said he is 95 percent sure he wouldn’t be back next season, and he threw teammate Myles Garrett under the bus for being the focus of the team.

The Steelers and their fans are no strangers to player drama. Everyone who lived through the Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown era understands how much players like Clowney can frustrate and entertain the fan base. Will this have any impact on the game on Sunday? It is hard to say, but with so much on the line for the Steelers, they will take any advantage they can get.

Browns DE Myles Garrett definitely wants to be Mike Tomlin

Myles Garrett has been listening to Mike Tomlin’s press conferences.

One thing Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin is known for above everything else is his Tomlin-isms. Little phrases that Tomlin drops in press conferences and interviews that you never hear from anyone else and are usually right in line with his sort of deadpan delivery.

At least one NFL player has been paying attention and that is Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. Garrett spoke to the media on Friday about teammate Jadeveon Clowney and the tantrum he threw this week culminating with him being sent home from practice on Friday.

Garrett was asked if he would welcome Clowney back and he channeled his inner Tomlin when he said, “I want volunteers, not hostages.”

This is about as classic of a Tomlin-ism as there has ever been and Garrett just had to borrow it. All jokes aside, if Clowney doesn’t play, this really works to the advantage of the Steelers despite Clowney having a pretty poor season overall.

Jadeveon Clowney’s trantrum looks to benefit Steelers this week

The Browns could be without Jadeveon Clowney this week.

You have to love a little internal turmoil on an NFL team when it isn’t the Pittsburgh Steelers. Pittsburgh has dealt with more than its fair share so it is nice to see it happening this week to the Cleveland Browns. Especially in the days leading up to a game with huge playoff implications.

The drama in question is all about Browns defensive Jadeveon Clowney. It came out this week that Clowney refused to play on first and second down the week before against the Baltimore Ravens. He then followed it up with an interview where he stated he’s 95 percent sure he won’t be back next year. Clowney is set to hit free agency in March.

Clowney also said he feels like the team is more worried about getting defensive end Myles Garrett into the Hall of Fame instead of focusing on winning games.

The latest in this ongoing saga is the Browns had to send Clowney home from practice on Friday. It wasn’t clear as to the reason but head coach Kevin Stefanski couldn’t say if Clowney would play against the Steelers on Sunday. If Clowney is out this certainly helps the Steelers.

Clowney has 10 starts this season but has only mustered up two sacks. Clowney’s cap number for 2021 is $3.467 million.

Steelers vs Browns game status report

Steelers safety Tre Norwood is out this week vs the Browns.

On Friday, the Pittsburgh Steelers put out its game status report ahead of the regular-season finale against the Cleveland Browns. The only player the team has listed for out this week is backup defensive back Tre Norwood. He continues to deal with a hamstring issue.

The worst news on the report is safety Minkah Fitzpatrick is listed as questionable this week with an ankle injury. If Fitzpatrick can’t go or is limited that hurts the Steelers defense in all phases and will mean an expanded role for Damontae Kazee.

Pittsburgh also lists linebacker Myles Jack as questionable with a groin injury. This isn’t a new injury and honestly, the Steelers have been doing fine with Robert Spillane and Mark Robinson holding down the middle of the defense.

For the Browns, offensive tackle Jake Conklin and defensive end Isaiah Thomas are both out for the game and cornerback Denzel Ward is listed as questionable. The Browns also seem to be minus defensive end Jadeveon Clowney who was sent home from practice on Friday and is on a tear ripping on his current team.

Steelers playoff hopes lie in the hands of Jets QB Joe Flacco

The Jets are starting Joe Flacco against the Dolphins this week.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

The playoff fate of the Pittsburgh Steelers is a three-headed monster. First, the Steelers must beat the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. In addition, the Buffalo Bills must beat the New England Patriots. Seems quite plausible.

Then there is the final step. The New York Jets must beat the Miami Dolphins. It is a longshot at best but with Friday’s injury news, becomes even more tenuous. Jets starting quarterback Mike White is out for this week’s game and New York is turning to Joe Flacco.

The Steelers know Flacco well from his time with the Baltimore Ravens and needless to say we are all feeling a little uneasy thinking about putting the team’s playoff hopes in his hands.

One saving grace to all this is the Dolphins quarterback situation is no better. They are also down to their third quarterback and will start Skylar Thompson.
