Steelers and Browns meet at midfield for pregame prayer

Steelers and Browns pray at midfield for Damar Hamlin.

In a show of solidarity, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns met at midfield prior to the start of Sunday’s game for a prayer in honor of Damar Hamlin. Hamlin is the Buffalo Bills defensive back to suffered cardiac arrest on the field in a game last week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The NFL world has come together in a way I’ve not seen since 9/11 to support and uplift Hamlin as he continues to recover from a horrific injury. Hamlin was hit while making a tackle last week against the Cincinnati Bengals and after standing up briefly went back down on the field. If not for the effort of the trainers and EMTs, Hamlin might not have survived. His injury has served as a strong reminder that there are things bigger than football.

Hamlin remains in ICU but has had an opportunity to Facetime with his teammates and is even back on Twitter.

Steelers vs Browns: Full inactives for both teams

Here are your Steelers inactives for Week 18.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

Inactives are out for this week’s game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns. Safety Minkah Fitzpatrick and linebacker Myles Jack are both active for the Steelers after being limited in practice this week.

The Steelers are about as healthy as you could ever hope for this late in the season. Pittsburgh is fighting for a spot in the playoffs and must win even to have a shot. Rookie linebacker Mark Robinson gets a helmet again this week and figures to play quite a bit with an emphasis on slowing down the Browns rushing attack.

Outside linebacker Malik Reed is a healthy scratch again primarily based on the game plan. The Steelers are going to play a lot of heavy sets which means rookie DeMarvin Leal will line up on the edge.

Steelers travel to Buffalo if they make the playoffs as the No. 7 seed

The Steelers worst loss of the season was to the Bills.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

Week 18 of the NFL regular season will decide if the Pittsburgh Steelers make the playoffs. The Steelers must beat the Cleveland Browns but Pittsburgh also needs the Buffalo Bills to beat the New England Patriots along with the New York Jets beating the Miami Dolphins.

If all those things happen, this would secure the Steelers in the No. 7 seed in the AFC. It would also earn them a trip to Orchard Park for a rematch from earlier in the season with the Buffalo Bills.

The first time these two teams squared off this season, the Bills blew the Steelers out 38-3 in the ugliest game of the year for Pittsburgh. Bills quarterback Josh Allen threw for 424 yards and four touchdowns.

This first game was all the way back in Week Five and both teams are in very different places now. The Bills are still one of the top teams in the AFC but have shown some flaws in recent weeks. Meanwhile the Steelers have completely reversed their fortunes and don’t resemble the squad that rushed for 54 yards.

Let us know in the comments if you are excited about the potential of getting another shot at the Bills or if will it be another early exit for the Steelers.

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns is one of three pieces of their playoff puzzle. The Steelers need the Buffalo Bills to beat the New England Patriots and the New York Jets to beat the Miami Dolphins. But the only thing they can worry about is beating the Browns.

And beat them they will.

Since coming off the bye week, the Steelers have been a team possessed. The return of linebacker T.J. Watt has sparked the defense and now they are formidable against the run and the pass. On offense, as the offensive line has improved so has the rushing offense. Now, both of these units can dictate the action at the line of scrimmage and that allows them to control the clock and make opposing teams one-dimensional.

Cast your vote and tell us who you think wins this week. We are all in on the Steelers getting this W and doing their part. The Browns are going to want to run the ball but Pittsburgh isn’t going to let that happen. This one will be physical but the Steelers won’t need a last-second drive to win it.

NFL experts picking Steelers over the Browns in Week 18

NFL pundits are leaning heavily toward the Steelers beating the Browns this week.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

On paper, the game between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns might not be terribly enticing on paper but you can bet this will be a physical battle between two teams that really don’t like each other. The game is in Pittsburgh and the Steelers have plenty to play for so it only makes sense many NFL pundits would lean toward the Steelers this week.

But how many took the Steelers? For that information, we turn to our friends at NFL Pick Watch. They aggregate NFL picks from all over the internet so you don’t have to. This week they have the experts going with the Steelers over the Browns with 81 percent of the picks going with the Steelers.

The Steelers lost to the Browns in Cleveland earlier in the season. The two teams squared off in the first half of the season when nothing was going right for Pittsburgh and the Browns got a 29-17 win thanks to huge performances by running back Nick Chubb, wide receiver Amari Cooper and tight end David Njoku. Pittsburgh has turned the season around in the second half and should give a much better effort this time around in all three phases.

Steelers vs Browns: 6 bold predictions for this week

The Steelers finish the season with a win but come up short.

It all comes down to this.

After a horrible start, the Pittsburgh Steelers have turned things around and find themselves on the cusp of the playoffs. Standing in their way are the Cleveland Browns who have nothing to play for than to ruin the Steelers season. Here are our six bold predictions for this game.

Steelers elevate DT Renell Wren to active roster

The Steelers are calling in reinforcements to stop the run.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced on Saturday they are elevating defensive tackle Renell Wren from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. The Steelers also elevated Wren last week against the Baltimore Ravens and will get another shot this week against the Cleveland Browns.

Pittsburgh has figured out the formula for slowing down the run is to go big. Big bodies, physical football and fresh legs. This is why the Steelers are bringing Wren back as a “just in case” scenario. Wren only played one snap against Baltimore so don’t look for a huge impact but you know the Browns are going to try to push the Steelers around and run the football. You can never have enough big bodies.

The Steelers run defense has stiffened over the last month and it has all built up to this. The Browns have perhaps the best all-around back in the NFL in Nick Chubb and a very good offensive line. If the last four games were tests, this week is the final as the Steelers hope to sneak into the playoffs.
