Hurricanes at Canucks projected goalies

Antti Raanta (4-1-1, 2.41 GAA, .904 SV%) vs. Thatcher Demko (11-11-1, 2.73 GAA, .915 SV%, 1 SO)

Raanta allowed just 2 goals on 34 shots in a win last time out against the Buffalo Sabres Dec. 4. He gets the nod here after Frederik Andersen made the start in Edmonton Saturday.

Demko has won three straight starts, including a shutout of the Los Angeles Kings Dec. 6. He has allowed just 4 goals on 104 shots during his current win streak.

Hurricanes at Canucks odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hurricanes 3, Canucks 2

Money line

The HURRICANES (-130) haven’t been fazed over the years playing back-to-back games. The young Carolina team has had a quick recovery period, going 28-8 in the past 36 occasions when playing on no rest. They’ll cool off the Canucks but it certainly won’t be easy.

Against the spread

The Canucks +1.5 (-270) would normally be the play, as I expect this to be a one-goal game. Vancouver has been playing well, but you can’t risk this kind of money for such little reward.

PASS.

Over/Under

UNDER 5.5 (-105) is the way to be here. The Under is 5-1-1 in Carolina’s last seven road games and 10-3-3 in its last 16 overall.

The Under is 8-3-1 in the past 12 overall for Vancouver, and 20-6-4 in its last 30 games at home. The Canucks are also 4-0 to the Under in their last four as underdogs.
