Carmen’s Crew is back for this year’s TBT

Who is looking forward to some TBT action this summer? #GoBucks

If you are a fan of offseason basketball, then get ready for the Ohio State alumni team better known as “Carmen’s Crew” to come to a high definition televison set or streaming device near you this summer.

After taking a year off in 2022, the team got back together for a run at the winner-take-all tournament known as The Basketball Tournament (TBT), and according to a release on social media, the team will be back for 2024. Often known as one of the best teams in the TBT, last year wasn’t one to write home about, with a loss to a No. 2 Dayton alumni team in the regional semifinals.

But never fear, Carmen’s Crew is retooling with a new roster this season, and we’re happy to report that there are five former Buckeyes on the squad, In addition to twins Kaleb and Andre Wesson, former glue guy Kyle Young is on the team as well as Keyshawn Woods and forward Evan Ravenel. Joining that core will be former Bowling Green forward Scott Thomas, former Boston College forward CJ Penha, former Fairmont State guard Jamel Morris and former East Tennessee State guard Desonta Bradford. More players will be added later.

The squad will again be coached by former OSU All-American, Jared Sullinger with play beginning out of the Dayton Regional being held at the University of Dayton Arena. Carmen’s Crew will be the No. 3 seed in the eight-team region, and will play the sixth-seeded Purple Hearts in the first round on July 20 at 7 p.m. Big Ten Network will broadcast the game. Win, and well, things start to get interesting from there.

We like to follow this and will have results and analysis as the former OSU studs and a collection of others try to make another deep run in 2024.
