Cardinals would have No. 7 pick in draft if season ended now

Sitting at 4-8, if the season ended today, the Cardinals would have the No. 7 pick in the 2023 draft.

The Arizona Cardinals are now 4-8 this season entering the bye week. Any playoff hopes are all but gone, although mathematically it is still possible.

But at this point, it is more practical to look at where they stand in terms for the 2023 NFL draft order.

Sitting at 4-8, according to Draft Wire, the Cardinals would hold the No. 7 pick in the draft if the season ended today.

The Cardinals are one of four teams with a 4-8 record — the Panthers, Saints and Packers. The Panthers and Saints have a weaker strength of schedule, with the Packers’ strength of schedule is stronger than Arizona’s.

Who have been the No. 7 pick in the draft the last few years?

  • 2022: Giants OT Evan Neal
  • 2021: Lions OT Penei Sewell
  • 2020: Panthers DT Derrick Brown
  • 2019: Jaguars LB Josh Allen
  • 2018: Bills QB Josh Allen

The positive thing for having such a high pick, it means the Cardinals should be able to land a potential impact player.
