Cardinals had veteran long snapper in for tryout

35-year-old long snapper Jake McQuaide had a tryout for the Cardinals on Thursday.

The Arizona Cardinals re-signed veteran long snapper Aaron Brewer this offseason. He is the team’s long snapper for the eight year in a row.

There might be an injury concern with Brewer.

They had two other different long snappers on the roster during the offseason and now they have brought in another for a workout.

According to the NFL transaction report on Thursday, they had Jake McQuaide in for a tryout.

McQuaide has played 12 years in the NFL and is a two-time Pro Bowler.

He spent a decade with the Rams in St. Louis and Los Angeles and then was with the Dallas Cowboys the last two seasons.

McQuaide, 35 years old, was with the Detroit Lions in the preseason.

He had never missed an NFL game before last season but played in only four last season before landing on injured reserve.

Had the tryout been a young long snapper, perhaps it would be simply looking ahead to the future.

McQuaide is two years older than Brewer.

Brewer was not on the injury report on Wednesday or Thursday, but this is something to watch.
