Cardinals’ grade for 3rd-round pick Garrett Williams: B-

The selection of Williams in the third round is fine but unspectacular.

The Arizona Cardinals made Syracuse cornerback Garrett Williams their first of two selections in the third round of the draft on Friday.

He was one of two cornerbacks the Cardinals drafted over the weekend.

What grade do they get for the selection of Williams?

Grade: B-minus

Williams was pretty good at Syracuse.

However, he is coming off a torn ACL and will not be ready until at least July. That means no offseason reps until perhaps training camp.

Williams, even before the injury, was only average athletically and is not the ideal length. He is 5-foot-10.

There is no questioning his character, a theme with all the Cardinals’ draft picks this year, but there were more athletic corners who went at the top of the fourth like Jakorian Bennett and Kelee Ringo.

Before his ACL tear, he was a solid starter and one of the best corners in his conference. He made plays on the ball.

He seems to be a reasonably solid selection.
