Cardinals DC Vance Joseph expecting ‘huge steps’ from 2nd-year defensive backs

Byron Murphy, Jalen Thompson and Deionte Thompson all should be better after playing a lot as rookies.

“I think with D.T., playing some last year and getting his feet wet at the dime spot and at the safety spot, he’s going to come back and play better,” Joseph said.

Thompson played the least of all the 2019 rookie defensive backs. He was pushed out of the lineup when he got hurt and missed a couple of games and then Jalen Thompson progressed as a player.

He finished his rookie campaign with 18 tackles.
