Cardinals’ Chandler Jones a bit of a longshot for Defensive Player of the Year

12 players have better odds than he does, despite coming off a 19-sack season.

If you look at the numbers, Arizona Cardinals outside linebacker Chandler Jones is one of the league’s best defensive players in the league. No one has more sacks than he has had since entering the league. The same is the case since he joined the Cardinals in 2016. He is coming off a 19-sack season in which he had two games with four sacks.

You would think he would be a favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year.

That, however, is not the case.

According to odds by BetMGM, 12 players are given shorter odds than Jones.

He currently has +3000 odds (30/1).

The leader is Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald at +750. Other popular names like Nick and Joey Bosa, Bobby Wagner, J.J. Watt, T.J. Watt, Von Miller and Stephon Gilmore are among those given shorter odds than Jones.

Even Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has better odds at +2500.

Jones and Cardinals fans should be used to this. Jones, despite incredible pass-rushing production, continues to be one of the most overlooked players in the league.

However, with the production he has had, he does make a nice sleeper bet. It might be worth dropping $20 on that wager.
