The 49ers on Monday lost defensive back Qwuantrezz Knight to the Arizona Cardinals according to Matt Barrows of the Athletic.
It’s not a huge surprise the Cardinals poached the second-year undrafted free agent from San Francisco since they tried claiming him off waivers after final cuts.
Knight was a candidate to come up off the practice squad for San Francisco’s Week 2 game after they placed CB Samuel Womack on IR with a knee injury. Instead they elevated CB Tre Swilling.
The 49ers originally signed Knight as an undrafted rookie in 2022 out of UCLA. He spent all of last season on the practice squad, but now he should get an opportunity to debut in Arizona after they placed safety Budda Baker on IR.
