Ohio State football has seen a number of players transfer out and have success somewhere else, even in the NFL. Two come to mind immediately in Nick Goings who transferred to Pittsburgh and had great success in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers. Another one is Mike Furrey, who was a walk-on that transferred to Northern Iowa and also shined in the NFL playing on both offense and defense for multiple teams.
Perhaps no one has been more successful than Joe Burrow, who left for LSU and won a national championship and Heisman Trophy. In my opinion, once you are a Buckeye, you are always a Buckeye, but I understand that Burrow shined brightest in Baton Rouge.
In a recent interview on the “Pardon My Take” podcast, Burrow said “I didn’t play football there, I mean, I practiced football there.” He then added that he tells people “I went to school at Ohio State and played football at LSU.”
I don’t think any rational fan would argue against that, but I also don’t think that means Ohio State fans have to stop cheering for him.
