Does a new contract come for Matt Milano?
As the 2020 season approaches, so does the expiration for Milano’s contract. We’ve mentioned Milano was a fifth-round pick of the Bills, so in terms of the contracts of those around him, Milano’s been an underpaid player. And unlike Edmunds, he doesn’t have a fifth-year option on his deal, which comes with said big pay day.
So what do the Bills do from here? Perhaps it’s been hard to ink Milano to a deal because of the ongoing pandemic this offseason. But time is ticking. If the Bills do get Milano extended, that could go a long way. The heart of the team’s defense is their pairing the middle. Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane hasn’t been shy about wanting to keep all of these guys together. Beane extended safety Jordan Poyer earlier this offseason, and now Milano’s up next. His final year on his current contract in 2020 shouldn’t even play much of a role in constructing a deal. Milano’s already established.
