Buffalo Bills sign running back Damien Harris to one-year deal

A new RB for the #Bills and it’s one you’ve likely heard of:

The Buffalo Bills have added to their backfield. It’s a name that’s all-too familiar: Damien Harris.

Formerly of the New England Patriots, the free agent running back has signed a one-year deal in Buffalo according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The addition comes shortly after the Bills learned that the team’s former running back, Devin Singletary, signed as a free agent with the Houston Texans.

Harris, 26, spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Pats.

In his time in the pros, Harris has had his fair share of two things: Injuries and huge games against Buffalo.

According to injury analyst Banged Up Bills, Harris has dealt with hamstring and thigh issues in his NFL career. His career features games played totals of two, 10, 15, and 11, respectively.

But when Harris is on the field, he particularly played well against his new team. Of his four times facing Buffalo, three of those has seen Harris surpass the 100-yard rushing mark. Harris also has four-career touchdowns against the Bills.

A 5-foot-11 back, Harris has the type of build at 215 pounds the Bills were expected to add after general manager Brandon Beane said he intended to add a bigger back this offseason.

It remains to be seen if Harris has a large role or not in Buffalo. It’s expected that James Cook will get his share of touches with the Bills in 2023 as well.

New England originally selected Harris in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft.
