The Buffalo Bills have signed defensive end Breeland Speaks to their practice squad. The team announced the transaction on Wednesday.

Speaks, 26, was one of a few pass rushers who worked out for the Bills (8-6) prior to signing earlier this week.

The 6-foot-3, 285 pound defender was a second-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs in 2018 out of Ole Miss. In college, Speaks was a teammate of Buffalo tight end Dawson Knox.

As a rookie, Speaks played in all 16 games with the Chiefs, making four starts. He notched 24 tackles, 1.5 sacks and a forced fumble.

The ensuing season he started the year on injured reserve. He was then suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy while on IR.

Since then, Speaks has played for the Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants without being active for a game.

Due to multiple Bills players being moved to the COVID-19 list from the practice squad, Buffalo had an open spot for Speaks on the taxi squad.
