The Buffalo Bills made an expected roster move, placing offensive lineman Ike Boettger on injured reserve.

In the Bills’ Week 16 33-21 win over the New England Patriots (9-6), Boettger suffered an Achilles injury.

The Bills (9-6) quickly announced that Boettger’s day was finished when it occurred. Buffalo went on to place Boettger on IR on Monday.

Boettger had been starting for the Bills in recent weeks as Jon Feliciano has spent time sidelined due to the COVID list and injury.

When Boettger left the lineup, Buffalo’s hand was then forced. Dion Dawkins was activated from the team’s COVID list on Saturday, but he was not in the starting lineup. He only got out there once Boettger went down, but he held his own.

Also prior to kickoff, the Bills had called Bobby Hart up from their practice squad. In a corresponding move with Boettger hitting injured reserve, Hart was signed to Buffalo’s 53-man roster.

Other transactions the Bills announced on Monday:

  • Cornerback Cam Lewis has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
  • Defensive end Breeland Sparks was released from the practice squad.
