Bucs send DL Mike Greene to injured reserve, call up DL Pat O’Connor

The Bucs are making some changes to their defensive line depth.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are making some roster moves ahead of their Week 13 game against the Carolina Panthers.

The team announced on Friday that it is sending defensive lineman Mike Greene to injured reserve. Greene has been battling a calf injury and will now miss at least four games with the injury, and he’s the second Bucs player to be moved there in recent weeks behind wide receiver Rakim Jarrett.

The corresponding move to shore that depth up is to promote DL Pat O’Connor to the active roster. O’Connor has yo-yo-ed back and forth between the active roster, the practice squad and being released entirely, and because O’Connor has been released and hit waivers this season, he’s still allowed to be elevated from the practice squad without being signed to the 53-man roster. As it stands, this will be O’Connor’s fifth promotion to the active roster this year.
