Bucs Hall of Famer Derrick Brooks talks about his draft night

Hall of Fame linebacker Derrick Brooks spoke about his draft night back in 1995, and recalled a funny story about his grandmother.

Last year, the Buccaneers took LSU linebacker Devin White with the fifth pick in the 2019 NFL draft, marking the first time the Bucs had taken a linebacker in round one since Derrick Brooks back in 1995.

The pick of Brooks turned into one of the greatest ever by Tampa Bay — along with that of Warren Sapp, who was taken in the same draft ahead of Brooks. Brooks took some time to talk about his draft night experience all those years ago, and recalled a funny story involving his grandmother on “phone patrol.”
