Bucs coaches Harold Goodwin and Joe Gilbert join Dave Canales in Carolina

Tampa Bay’s offensive staff has been almost entirely gutted since Canales left the Bucs to become the Panthers’ head coach.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive staff is all but cleared.

NFL reporter Ian Rapoport and FOX Sports reporter Carmen Vitali reported Tuesday that Bucs assistant head coach and run game coordinator Harold Goodwin and offensive line coach Joe Gilbert are joining Panthers head coach Dave Canales in Carolina. Both had been with the Bucs before Canales arrived in Tampa Bay in 2023, but both are now making lateral moves away from the team to join Canales.

With the movement of Goodwin and Gilbert and the departure of Brad Idzik on Tuesday as well, Tampa Bay’s staff has faced massive turnover. The team’s offensive staff has almost entirely turned over since 2022, with the longest-tenured coach in one position being tight ends coach John Van Dam, who has held the position since 2022.

As Canales has converted most of Tampa Bay’s offensive staff, whoever the Bucs choose as their next offensive coordinator will likely bring a whole new cast of coaches for the offensive side of the ball in 2024.
