On Thursday night when the Brooklyn Nets took on the Boston Celtics, Bruce Brown shared a couple funny moments with Kemba Walker. These interactions weren’t new at all for the Boston native. In fact, after shootaround on Friday, Brown said he loves facing the Celtics star.
“Coming into the league my rookie year we played Charlotte like four times quick and Kemba busted my [expletive] every time. So going into my second year I locked in. I watched everything on Kemba. Literally every game on Kemba. His moves. The way he likes to dance. I kind of take that personally. I love that matchup.”
Brown has always prided himself on his defense throughout his career. Kyrie Irving and other players around the league have felt Bruce Brown’s wrath defensively over the years and last season it caught the eyes of Irving and Sean Marks. When Brown sees an opportunity to guard a player like Kemba Walker – with all the talent he possesses offensively – the former Hurricane seizes it so that he can improve his overall defense.
“He’s getting me better out there on the floor on the defensive end, so I take it personally,” Brown said about Walker.
This friendly and competitive rivalry between Bruce Brown and Kemba Walker is one to look out for in the near future. Other than that, the 24-year-old is on the right track in becoming a special defender in this league.
