Browns placed in enhanced COVID-19 protocols after latest testing

The Browns were placed in enhanced COVID-19 protocols after the latest testing

Get ready for some unwelcome news for the Browns on the COVID-19 front. The team has been placed in the NFL’s enhanced COVID-19 mitigation protocols on Tuesday after the latest round of testing revealed enough positives to trigger the advanced status.

None of the players or staffers who may have tested positive have been revealed yet, but the NFL doesn’t accelerate the protocols unless there is a serious outbreak. The Browns already have four players on the reserve/COVID-19 list: TE David Njoku, TE Stephen Carlson, P Jamie Gillan and LB Anthony Walker.

As a result of the enhanced protocols, all team meetings must be held virtually. Masks become mandatory for staff and players while indoors, even those who are confirmed vaccinated.

The Browns are the sixth team to be placed in the enhanced protocols in the last week. There were 37 players who tested positive on Monday across the NFL, the worst outbreak since the pandemic began.

We’ll keep updating which team members test positive as events unfold.
