Broncos select QB J.J. McCarthy in ESPN’s 2024 NFL mock draft

Jordan Reid’s recent NFL mock draft has the Broncos selecting quarterback J.J. McCarthy at No. 12 overall.

In his latest 2024 NFL mock draft, ESPN’s Jordan Reid has the Denver Broncos selecting Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy with the 12th overall pick (subscription required for link).

“The Broncos might sign an experienced veteran, but McCarthy has some traits we’ve seen [Sean] Payton gravitate toward in the past: The Wolverines star is an instinctive and accurate passer who makes plays to win games,” Reid wrote on ESPN.com. “He has really good ball placement, hitting 72.3% of his throws this season.”

Reid has the top three QBs in this year’s class all going off the board immediately — Caleb Williams at No. 1, Drake Maye at No. 2 and Jayden Daniels at No. 3. After Denver’s pick, no other QBs are picked in the first round (apparently Reid isn’t as high on Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix as some fans and pundits).

The 2024 NFL draft will be held in Detroit from April 25-27.
