Denver Broncos kicker Brandon McManus has been named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the NFL announced Wednesday.

On the day the Broncos honored late wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, McManus scored eight points while wearing jersey No. 8 in Denver’s 31-10 win over the Detroit Lions.

McManus converted a 52-yard field goal in the win and went five-of-five on extra point attempts while wearing custom “8-8” cleats to honor Thomas.

McManus has converted 20-of-23 field goal attempts this season and 27-of-28 extra point attempts, accounting for 87 total points. McManus ranks second on the team’s all-time scoring list (813 points), trailing only Ring of Fame kicker Jason Elam (1,786 points).

This is the third time McManus has earned Player of the Week honors in his career. He is the only remaining player on the roster that won Super Bowl 50 with Denver following the 2015 season. McManus has three years remaining on his contract that’s scheduled to expire in 2025.
